Chapter 626: Leaving
"ᚾᛃᚨᚱᛃᛦ ᚷᚱᚢᛗ ᚹᛖᚨᚱᛏᚺ" While Ruo'er was immersed in her cultivation, trying to grasp the true meaning of death, Noah appeared to be chanting some incomprehensible words that echoed through the underground room.
The liquid under the platform the girl sat on started to gurgle. Black-colored will-o'-wisps rose from the liquid. Suddenly the atmosphere in the room shifted to the point even Xin Yan's eyebrows furrowed a little.
'This feels rather unpleasant.' She glanced between Noah, the old man Ming, and the Ruo'er; much to her surprise, it was only she who was feeling this sensation.
Woosh!
Her thoughts were disrupted when the flow of the air in the sealed room suddenly changed. A gust of wind appeared; there were no windows or open doors in the room, but the wind grew fierce with each passing moment.
The black wisps of death energy that seemed to be untouchable moved with the current of the air. They flowed closer to Ruo'er, who was deep in cultivation, unaware of the changes around her.
The wisps merely hovered around her body, without touching her.
Soon, Noah stopped chanting the spell, but the process continued to work the same on its own.
Heaving a long, strained sigh, Noah glanced at the old man beside him. "I have done all I can to help." "The rest depends on her ability," he said, noticing the tense state of his body as he watched her granddaughter with a hint of worry and anticipation.
Ming Ye turned to look at Noah after a brief pause; he cupped his hands in appreciation and said, "I am truly grateful for the opportunity you have provided my Ruo'er with. If you need any sort of help from me in the future, feel free to tell me. 'The Ming Family' will never forget this favor."
Noah studied the old man for a bit and smiled. "It is no big deal; I was going to do this for her anyway."
Even though he said that he did not refuse his offer of 'the Meng Family' owing him one. Why would he do that? The Ming family was one of the ancient hidden families, one of the few of the strongest forces in the world.
And having one of them owing him did not hurt anyone.
Ming Ye shook his head but said nothing. But then, thinking of something, he could not help but ask, "Are you leaving now?"
"Indeed, as we informed you before, now that everything has settled down here, we are leaving the sect to roam around the world for a while." Noah looked at Xin Yan with a soft smile and held her hand, intertwining her fingers with his own.
"A lot of things happened lately; we just want some time alone for ourselves." Feeling his warmth, Xin Yan smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder before adding sweetly.
Upon seeing this, Ming Ye forced a chuckle.
"When are you going to return, then?"
Noah hummed slowly as if thinking of something before replying, "It might be a year or ten. Who knows? I have some plans for our travels."
…
Stepping out of the secret room, Noah and Xin Yan made their way toward the other members of the sect. They had yet to inform them of their departure.
"What?! You are leaving?" Ma Li screamed so loudly that her voice echoed throughout the sect; had it not been for the array, it would have reached the beasts in the forest nearby too, scaring them into hiding.
Other disciples were also shocked upon hearing this news, but they did not react like her. Since they were standing right beside her, they suffered a bit of hearing damage from her exclamation.
"Why so sudden?" Zhong Hua glared at the perverted woman before looking at Noah with a curious look on her face.
"Just wanted to have some time alone, away from the sect with my wife." Without thinking much, he casually gave a reply, but Xin Yan, who heard those words, froze.
She blankly stared at his back as the words sank in her mind, 'Wife?' She repeated in her mind, 'Wife? Wife? Wife?' Over and over again, 'He called me his WIFE!'
Xin Yan became so engrossed in her thoughts, repeatedly recalling his words, that she didn't even realize she was standing in front of everyone, a silly smile on her face, lost in her own world.
But seeing her like this made the other girls feel a pang of jealousy in their hearts. Ma Li even groaned out loud and stomped her feet on the ground.
"This is so unfair; why do you get to go have fun while we are stuck here working so hard?" She grumbled out loud, throwing a bit of a tantrum.
"Reach the Soul Formation Realm, and you can also leave the sect as you wish." Noah chuckled with a light smirk on his face.
"Why not just tie us here?" Tian Heng also groaned in annoyance. "Even the most talented of all disciples I have heard about need 50 years to go from the Golden Core Realm to reach the Soul Formation Realm."
The rest also had a look of agreement on their face even though they did not say it out loud.
"Then I guess you have to work harder." Noah did not seem fazed by their stares and commented, "Even after entering the same realm as Shisan, you are no match for her. What do you think would happen when you go out and encounter someone from the Red Dawn Cult?"
The disciples wanted to retort, but they all knew that he was telling the truth.
Shisan looked at their reaction silently before turning to look at Noah. "How long will you be gone for?" Her voice was considerably softer than usual. This surprised not only him but also everyone else's presence on the scene.
'No way, that woman has emotions!' Ma Li almost lost her balance; she literally turned around to look at the woman to check if she was the real Shisan or not. Even Xin Yan looked at her with narrowed eyes; her thoughts were a mystery to the rest.
Noah did not think much about it and replied with what he told Ming Ye. After speaking with them for a while, Noah made his way out of the sect, walking side by side with Xin Yan.
Instead of traveling through a flying artifact, the two of them decided it was better to walk on foot.
As if thinking of something, Noah paused, "I should tell Wuhan that we are leaving the sect now. He had been so busy with work that he failed to tell him before."
In front of Xin Yan's livid eyes, he took out a talisman and channeled his energy through it.
Soon the talisman glowed a bit, showing that the connection had been established.
"Wuhan, are you free?" Noah started the conversation.
"Noah— Ah, excellent timing. I was about to contact you as well."
Noah paused, hearing a hurried voice from the other side; he wondered what had happened for Wuhan to act like this.
"What happened? Do you need my help?" he asked.
"Actually, I kind of use your help." Wuhan sounded a bit unsure. "There is an emergency in the capital; it's best if you come here and check it yourself in person."
Noah and Xin Yan exchanged glances; the woman appeared a bit reluctant but nodded nonetheless. Seeing this, Noah's face broke into a warm smile; he instantly kissed the woman on the cheeks and replied, "I will be right there."
Cutting the connection with the talisman, Noah and a blushing mess of a woman made their way to the capital city of the Feng Empire.
