Chapter 627: The Foreign Forces
"What do you think this is about?" Upon entering the Feng city, Xin Yan asked, noticing no shift in the place. Everything and everyone in the capital city seemed calm as always. "From his tone, it seemed urgent as well."
Since it was an emergency, the two of them decided to take the flying artifact and covered the distance of thousands of miles in merely less than 10 minutes.
"It must be something to do with the palace or something secretive." Noah and Xin Yan could have used their soul sense to spy on the situation in the palace but decided against it. Since they had already arrived here and Wuhan did not mention anything about a battle, there was no need to spy on others.
Hearing the people whispering while looking in their direction, Noah and Xin Yan took a step and disappeared from the place to avoid attracting more attention than they already had.
"Who goes there!" Upon seeing an unfamiliar individual appearing before them out of nowhere, the guards raised their spears and slammed them on the ground before him.
And almost immediately a burly man jacked with muscles jumped down from the nearby wall, creating a small crater on the ground. His meta armor clanked from the sudden movements.
With his head held high in the air, the man ordered in an authoritative tone. "Identify yourself!"
"Looks like you did not learn from our previous encounter." The person who had just arrived at the Royal Estate spoke in a calm tone, "Mr. Bai Chen."
"You—it's you!" Bai Chen froze hearing the familiar voice before a shiver went down his spine. "You are that intruder!"
Hearing his exclamation, the guards tensed and pointed their weapons at him.
Bai Chen could not help but recall how he was manhandled when he faced the person before him for the first time. The memories alone made him shiver like he was peeing in some dark alleyway.
The person before him was not only strong, but he was also the emperor's friend.
"Senior Nuo Yan!" Bai Chen's immediate aura vanished as soon as it had flared. Noticing the drawn weapons in the hands of the guards, he immediately admonished them, "Hey! What are you doing?! How dare you point weapons at the emperor's esteemed guest!"
The guards were shocked beyond words; they hurriedly lowered their weapons in panic.
"My subordinates have no eyes to recognize Mt. Tai; I hope the senior forgives them." Bai Chen lowered his head to ask for forgiveness in place of his subordinates.
"There is no need for all; they are all doing their jobs." Noah shook his head before saying, "I have urgent work to do, so I will take my leave first."
Saying that, he took a step and vanished from the place once more, leaving a stunned Bai Chen and his subordinates.
"Captain…" One of the guards behind him stepped forward with a hesitant look on his face, "Shouldn't we inform about his arrival to the general?"
His words woke Bai Chen up from his daze.
"No need for that; I am sure his arrival has not gone unnoticed by the higher-ups." The man instantly rejected their suggestion before waving them off to their positions.
…
"Why do you want to stay hidden?" While walking in the direction of the royal palace, Noah suddenly started speaking as if he were talking to himself.
And for some reason, no one seemed to notice anything strange about his behavior.
"No, we would have to come up with new lies to explain about my existence, which in turn would lead us to tell more lies." Xin Yan's voice reached his ears from all directions as if she were everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
In no time, Noah found himself standing in front of the massive staircase leading to the Emperor's Audience Hall.
No one else stopped Noah on his way from there on out, and the guards even bowed to him politely.
Noah paid no attention to them and directly entered the hall.
Upon entering, he intently felt all the eyes turning to look in his direction.
All the court officials were now paying attention to him.
"You are here, Nuo Yan." Wuhan, seated high on the throne at the end of the room, exhaled with a sense of relief. With the slight shift in his body, Noah could tell that the man had not had a good sleep for the past few months.
"Your majesty," Noah walked forward as the officials made way for him. "You said that you needed me? Is there something I can help with?"
"Yes, I called you and everyone else here due to an emergency." Wuhan nodded with a heavy look on his face. "I believe that you are familiar with Captain Black's sword?"
Seeing Noah nod, he continued speaking, "Captain Black Sword recently took a trip to the far end of the Feng Empire, where the land meets the endless sea."
Noah said nothing, as he was already aware of this; after all, he was the one who hinted that man would go there.
"The endless seas are a very mysterious and dangerous thing we know about." Wuahn's solemn tone settled the gravity of the situation in the room. "We know nothing of what the ocean holds, let alone what's beyond the seas."
"During his travels around the shore of the sea, our captain came across someone, a person of unknown race and origin." Wuhan leaned forward and finally revealed the truth: the person was a woman; Captain Black Sword has determined that although she looks similar to us, she is not from around here."
"Does your majesty mean she is an intruder from other countries?" One of the officials suddenly frowned, "We cannot let this transgression go unanswered."
"No," Wuhan instantly silenced the man, scanning the entire room with his gaze before stating, "The intruder is not from this continent." She does not speak the same language as us. So we have no way of knowing about her origins or motives."
A wave of whispers and murmurs echoed through the huger hall. The shock was eminent; the realization that there was another continent was shocking in itself.
Noah, on the other hand, finally understood what Wuhan meant by needing his help.
