Since he actually had a chance of getting a better result, Shane felt that it would be better to go back to the past.

He wanted to redo the A.I. Rebellion and get a better result.

Shane smirked as a fire ignited in his eyes. "I'd rather start over and fight for a different future than accept this half-hearted reward."

He then ignored the reward for clearing the Apocalypse.

Perhaps, he could accept this Knight-Class reward and see what it was all about before using the Aevum's Bind. However, he had a very particular feeling that the Ascension would make him separated from the bracelet given by his grandfather.

His guts were telling him that the bracelet would not be with him anymore…

Because of that, he felt that it was the right decision to do this now.

Shane held the bracelet and looked at the three pearls or crystals on it.

He wasn't really sure how to use this item but as he focused on the past he wanted to return to—the day the Apocalypse began—the bracelet pulsed with an overwhelming surge of energy.

'It's really working!' Shane thought with a hint of excitement in his voice. He didn't expect that the bracelet he had been wearing all this time had such a power!

He also couldn't help but feel a chill as he recalled how he had almost destroyed this bracelet during some of his intense battles.

'Right… I wonder how it wasn't destroyed all this time…' Shane thought.

As he thought that he would just return in a few moments, something unexpected happened. There was a voice that rang out similar to the system notification. Furthermore, it was almost as if it was trying to dissuade him.

[ Warning: Activating Aevum's Bind will sever your current timeline. Are you certain you wish to proceed? ]

Without hesitation, Shane answered. "Yes."

The light from the bracelet enveloped him, blinding and all-encompassing. He then felt a pull, as though his very essence or probably soul was being drawn through the fabric of time.

It was an experience he couldn't properly describe as he had never felt something like it before.

Then, just like that, he returned to the time when he was being given the option to select an Apocalypse. What confused Shane, however, was that his memories weren't sealed as he could recall all his experience in the A.I. Rebellion when he had selected the Fairy Realm Invasion.

Indeed, he tried to select the A.I. Rebellion again as he wanted to basically finish the Apocalypse properly, however, he was told by the system that he already received the reward so he selected the Fairy Realm Invasion instead.

'This… Does it mean that the Aevum's Bind is connected to the system?' Shane thought.

If his guess was right, then his grandfather might actually be related to the phenomenon that humanity was facing.

As several thoughts came to his mind, the Sphere's stored memory already ended here. It seemed that he needed to absorb the last two Memory Spheres related to the Fairy Realm Invasion to know why he decided to seal his memories and learn more about his current situation.

As the memories were fully absorbed, Shane opened his eyes... He was filled with emotion since he considered this a huge achievement.

'Hu~'

Shane took a deep breath to calm his mind.

The memories he had just obtained were extremely important.

Aside from that, the vivid recollections had left him emotionally drained.

Then, he clenched his fists as he felt like he had truly changed.

'It feels awesome... I can also tell that something changed within me.' He wasn't sure if it was just in his mind but he really felt stronger now.

Of course, it might just be his memories of being strong before, so it was tricking his mind.

Shane then used his Perception to confirm that everyone was getting prepared to leave.

Nonetheless, he could tell that he still had the time to absorb the last two Memory Spheres.

He sat cross-legged in the quiet chamber of his shelter as the two Memory Spheres was left in front of him.

Now, only two remained, containing fragments of his past life in the Fairy Realm Invasion.

Just as he reached for the next sphere, a sudden familiar appearance of golden light filled the room.

"What is it this time?"

His vision was blurred as a wave of energy surged through him…

"What?!" Shane couldn't help but feel excited after seeng this…

After all, if he was able to truly integrate, then he would be able to use the special martial arts he learned in the A.I. Rebellion and many more!

Shane froze as a flood of notifications appeared before him. He simply didn't expect that the system would actually recognize the achievement that shouldn't be part of the Zombie Apocalypse rewards. After all, this was related to the cheat item that his grandfather had given when he was still young. It was way before the Apocalypse Options had appeared!

'Grandpa Merlin… Just what are you?' Shane thought as he started feeling curious about his grandfather's true identity.
