Chapter 324 Reuniting
Nen cannot cause harm to Void, and the White Smoke Font can only display information about its origin, but not its weaknesses, and there is also no prompt that it can be absorbed.
Law's only dependable tools were Nen and the White Smoke Font, but neither worked here. Now that six more Voids had appeared, there was no way he'd stick around.
If it were just one Void, he could've used Kuro's unique abilities to test things out slowly, but reality did not give him that luxury, because there were seven of them, not just one.
Void had no physical form and seemed capable of constant regeneration. This may be Void's advantage, while its disadvantage is its slow movement.
Law dragged Sanbica through the forest. Within minutes, they'd left the clearing behind. Given how slow Void was, it was unlikely any of them could catch up.
After running for quite a long distance, Law deemed it safe and finally slowed down.
Law had taken the escape seriously, he's sprinting so fast that Sambica had a hard time keeping up. Fortunately, all the creatures in the forest had been wiped out by the poison fog, so they didn't have to worry about being attacked mid-run.
Otherwise, Law wouldn't have dared run so recklessly. After all, there are countless venomous creatures usually lurking in the forest.
The forest was eerily silent. All around them was the still-lingering green smoke, though visibility remained relatively high.
The ground was littered with the bodies of dead creatures.
Law came to a stop, let go of Sanbica's hand, and turned to look back the way they had come.
Thanks to the connection between him and Kuro, he could sense that Kuro was rushing toward them at high speed.
"Sanbica, we have to leave this island as soon as possible." Law said.
Law was not talking about leaving the forest filled with poisonous smoke, but leaving the entire island.
Obviously, he believed that the potential threat level of Void was very high. If there was a basis for this, the words 'Dark Continent' alone was more than enough.
"Okay." Sanbica responded. She was very curious about the fact that Void could absorb the poisonous smoke and release it at will, but she still prioritized Law's judgment.
After standing there and waiting patiently for a while, they finally saw Kuro escape.
"Was it you who spit it back out, or did it escape on its own?" Law immediately asked after seeing Kuro.
Kuro rolled his eyes and replied unhappily: "It came out on its own. I couldn't digest it."
After a pause, he frowned and said, "I can't sense any danger from it. But getting close to it... gave me this deep sense of unease."
That murky, hard-to-define feeling unsettled Kuro more than anything else. But the worst part is the sudden bloating sensation in his stomach after swallowing it. After one experience like that, he didn't want to do that anymore.
"In short, that thing's too freaky, so it's best not to mess with it." Kuro concluded.
Law fell silent after hearing that. He'd originally wanted to go back into the underground space and investigate. But now, seven unknown entities from the Dark Continent had suddenly shown up. If Nen could be used against them, it's fine, but Void clearly wasn't part of the Nen System.
He really can't take the initiative to provoke them, and they have to leave this island as soon as possible. Those seven Voids seem to be harmless, but there was something deeply unsettling about them.
"Let's get out of here. We'll regroup with Linne and the others first." Law said.
Sanbica and Kuro naturally had no objection. After they had figured out the direction, they headed towards the forest's edge.
The green smoke in the forest has no effect on Sanbica and Kuro, but it did affect Law. He has to keep consuming his Aura to resist the invasion of the green smoke.
As long as it was just himself he needed to protect, he could probably last until they left the forest. However, if Void kept showing up, he might get dragged down and worn out.
'Invisible calamity...' Law thought to himself.
He knew very little information about the Dark Continent, and when it came to the Dark Continent, the first two people that came to his mind were Ging and Netero.
'Trouble just keeps piling on… Let's finish up the prison situation first. Then I'll ask Netero about the Dark Continent.'
Law felt that Netero and Ging knew more about the Dark Continent and should be able to identify the existence of Void.
In fact, Netero and King's knowledge of the Dark Continent was also limited, and it was impossible for them to know any information about Void.
Because Void wasn't one of the five known calamities V5 had cataloged. It was an entirely new calamity. And it wasn't brought from the Dark Continent… Instead, it had been lying dormant on Demon Island for who knows how long.
Throughout history, from ancient ruins to old texts, there have always been scattered and vague records about the various calamities linked to the Dark Continent. Those records that have been preserved seem to be intended to warn the future generations.
As long as one is willing to gather all the known information, they could piece together a hypothesis.
That is, the humanity's ancestors came from the Dark Continent, including the magical beasts currently active in the major magical realms, [they] also came from the Dark Continent.
Netero had been to the Dark Continent before, but in reality, he had never even stepped over the threshold.
It's the International Permit Agencies who has the most detailed information about the Dark Continent. Moreover, the five calamities brought back by humans from the Dark Continent are also tightly guarded by the International Permit Agencies in a top-secret underground facility.
Each of these calamities has the potential to wipe out humanity. That was the conclusion V5 had reached. Their extreme caution and fear only further confirmed just how deadly and bizarre those calamities were.
If the people from International Permit Agencies knew that a calamity that had been dormant for who knows how long had revived on Alcatraz Island, then Alcatraz Island would be sealed off as quickly as possible.
The only good news was that the Alcatraz Island sat in the middle of the ocean, which is a naturally isolated environment.
Law knew very little about the Dark Continent. The only deep impression he had was the 'World Tree Theory' mentioned by Ging.
In his opinion, Ging, who was determined to go to the Dark Continent, should have knew a lot of information about the Dark Continent.
Law felt he needed to get in touch with Ging, but what he didn't think about was that the Ging of now wasn't the same as the Ging from a decade later. So he might not have that much insight into the Dark Continent at this time.
Two days later, at the edge of a dense forest, Law reunited with Linne and the others.
After seeing Linne and others, Law's heart sank.
Except for Linne, everyone else was injured. The most seriously injured was Buhara, who had lost his left arm. The wound at his shoulder had been tightly wrapped in cloth, but it was soaked in blood.
Machi, Uvogin, and Nobunaga were also sporting multiple injuries, most of which were long claw marks.
"Sanbica."
Law shouted and quickly moved to Buhara's side.
Sanbica pressed her lips together and rushed over quickly. She was powerless to treat injuries like Buhara's, but she could at least stop the bleeding.
"Boss, you've been on the island for so long. Did you find anything good to eat?" Buhara's face was pale from blood loss. But the first thing he said when he saw Law was to ask about food.
"You're still in the mood to eat?" Law frowned as he looked at Buhara's wound that was slowly oozing blood.
"It's fine. I've still got my right hand." Buhara said with a smile.
Law's brows furrowed even deeper, and a gloomy look flashed in his eyes.
He turned his head to look at the wounds on Machi and the others, then looked at Linne with an inquiring look.
Before their reunion, Linne hadn't mentioned anything about Machi's injuries or Buhara losing an arm, so Law had no idea this had happened.
"We ran into the enemy." Linne said lightly.
Her eyes were still cloudy and lifeless. But compared to a few days ago, she looked far more drained.
The enemy had been more difficult than she ever imagined. The fact that she'd kept this group of youngsters alive was already a miracle.
