The sound started Luo Huian and Doctor Tan. The two of them jumped to their feet and turned to look at the three mers crumpled on the floor.

Luo Huian: "...."

She took a look at the three mers and then turned to look at Doctor Tan, who was simply amused when he saw the mers lying in front of him in a pile. He tilted his head to one side and then remarked, "Eh. What's this? Were you rushing here to capture someone in an affair? Did you catch the affair that you were looking for?"

When Luo Huian heard his taunting words, she heaved a sigh of relief and then turned to look at the three mers who were trying to get back on their feet. At least two of them were trying; the third one was still lying on the floor, waiting for the other two to help him get up.

Exhaling heavily, in a manner that made the three mers stiffen, Luo Huian made her way to where Qi Yongrui was lying on the floor and then helped him get up.

As Luo Huian helped Qi Yongrui up from the floor, she ignored the look of sheer embarrassment on his face and then pulled him up. She then helped him into the wheelchair before turning to look at Doctor Tan, who was staring at the three mers with a look of pure amusement on his face.

"I apologize for their actions," said Luo Huian. Though she knew that the mers were in the wrong, she didn't want to embarrass them any further. She bowed her head slightly and apologised to Doctor Tan on their behalf and said to the old mer, "I will bring them to apologise to you some other day, Doctor Tan. I am really sorry about their actions; they didn't mean it."

Though Luo Huian said those words, she herself didn't believe them. What did she mean by that the mers didn't mean it? They had been caught eavesdropping red-handed. Even if she wanted to make an excuse, she had to make one that sounded a bit realistic.

Sighing, she glared at the three mers who smiled at her sheepishly.

Doctor Tan was amused by their actions. He turned to look at Luo Huian, who was smiling at him, but her smile was even uglier than her crying. He tittered lightly before saying to her, "It's alright. Since they have come to look for you…. Then you can go back to your room. I believe they are quite tired waiting for you."

Luo Huian wished the ground would split open and she would jump into it. However, the ground never did, and she was left with the only task of embarrassment management. She pushed Qi Yongrui out of the room before heading to the main bedroom. As soon as they arrived at the main bedroom, Fan Meilin arched his arms over his head and said to Luo Huian, Qi Yongrui and Liao Liqin, "I am a bit tired. So I will go and take a nap."

Then, before Luo Huian could say anything to the mer, he turned around on his feet and bolted right inside his room; he even locked the door for good measure. When Luo Huian saw his actions, she was amused. Did this mer really think that a locked door could stop her if she wanted to cause trouble for him?

However, Luo Huian was not in the mood to cause trouble for anyone. She turned to look at Liao Liqin, who was sneaking into his room, and whistled after him. "What? Going to drop that newly rejuvenated brotherhood so soon?"

Liao Liqin stiffened. He paused and turned to look at Luo Huian. His eyes darted from Luo Huian to Qi Yongrui, who was staring at him with a pleading gaze. However, when Liao Liqin took a look at Luo Huian, who was smiling at him with an expression that was way too terrifying, he didn't dare to soften his heart.

He could only grit his teeth and run away. Anyway, he was just a little mute who couldn't say anything. What help would he even be for Qi Yongrui when he couldn't even speak?

Qi Yongrui watched the mer walk away without even taking a look at him, and his eyes rolled back in his sockets. Earlier, when these two mers asked him to come with them and eavesdrop on Luo Huian and Doctor Tan, they had spoken quite loudly about how they would be with him and face the consequences together if they were caught. Why was it that now that they needed to face the consequences, the two mers had turned around on their feet and run away?

Though Qi Yongrui was annoyed, he knew that he was going to face Luo Huian's wrath alone. He could only sigh and look up at Luo Huian, who raised her brows and then said to him, "What about you? Are you going to come with me, or do you want to run as well?"

"Do you think that I am in any situation where I can run?" Qi Yongrui remarked as he followed Luo Huian inside the room. Even if he wanted to run with his legs, as useful as a sword would have been if someone wanted to pick their ears, he couldn't run.

He could only face his consequences.

"I am glad that you are so brave," Luo Huian smiled at the little mer as she opened the door of the room even further before stepping to one side and allowing the mer to guide his wheelchair inside the room.

Qi Yongrui sighed before tapping on the commands and allowing his wheelchair to drive within the room. Once the mer was inside the room, Luo Huian followed him. She closed the door behind her before taking a look at the mer with a raised brow. "Now, can you tell me why you were eavesdropping on my conversation with Doctor Tan? As far as I recall, you did say that you were not jealous when I asked you."

Upon hearing her words, Qi Yongrui's face turned red. He flushed in embarrassment before saying to her, "You are misunderstanding something."

"Oh, I am misunderstanding something," repeated Luo Huian as she crossed her arms in front of her and then looked at the mer in front of her. She tilted her head to one side and questioned, "Tell me, what am I misunderstanding? That you were eavesdropping on my conversation with Doctor Tan because you are attracted to Doctor Tan?"

As soon as Luo Huian finished speaking, Qi Yongrui's eyes flickered. The flush on his cheeks turned even redder as he said to her, "I—I was simply accompanying the two. It's they who were worried that there was something wrong with that mer and that he was planning something. That's the only reason I followed them."

"Oh yeah?" Luo Huian was amused by the remarks that the mer was making but was still willing to listen to them. She wanted to see how deep the mer was going to dig the pit.

"That's right," Qi Yongrui, on the other hand, felt like his head was going to swell. He nodded and said to Luo Huian, "That's what happened. It's not that we were jealous; it's just that we were afraid that the old mer was planning something this whole time after all, Doctor Tan had never taken any case that involved a child but now that he had suddenly acted all of a sudden, we thought that he was trying to do something to you."

"We could never be sure of what the intentions of people might be; you understand this, don't you?" After he finished speaking, Qi Yongrui actually raised his head and glanced at Luo Huian with a hint of smugness as if he had said something that made all the sense in the world.

Luo Huian stared at the mer who stared right back at her. If she was being honest, she had to admit that the mer really knew how to talk nonsense with his eyes open. She raised her hand and flicked the forehead of the mer before saying, "Go to sleep; you are talking nonsense with your eyes open."

After she finished speaking, Luo Huian turned around on her feet and then went to the bathing room to take a bath.

When Qi Yongrui heard her words, he raised his head and looked at the woman with a stunned look on his face. What did she mean by that: He was speaking nonsense. He was clearly trying to make sense! At least he thought that he made sense.

With that thought in his head, he immediately called Long Zhong, who listened to his quibbling for a while before bursting out into tears.

"Hoooo hahahaha! Qi Yongrui, you are really an idiot! Do you think that if that mer wanted to do something to Luo Huian, you could have protected her? That woman is more than enough to take him down! At least you should have made some reasonable excuse."
