Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Cooking Up Magic
Half an hour later, the two stepped out of Flourish and Blotts. Dumbledore glanced at Eeylops Owl Emporium nearby, then turned to Kyle.
"We've got your wand and books. Let's get you a pet."
Kyle's eyes lit up. "A pet? Can I get a phoenix like Fawkes?"
"Afraid not. Phoenixes are extremely rare magical creatures… but we can get you an owl."
Kyle's bright eyes immediately dimmed.
If he couldn't get something as cool as a phoenix, what was the point of having an owl?
He didn't want an owl. He wanted a crow to cosplay Itachi.
With that, Kyle strode into the owl shop.
When he emerged, he was carrying a birdcage with a pitch-black crow inside.
Kyle stroked his chin. "I'll call you Itachi."
Dumbledore chuckled, his bright blue eyes watching the excited Kyle. "Let's head to Madam Malkin's to pick up your robes. That's the last thing we need."
But Kyle didn't follow Dumbledore. Instead, he stared longingly at the cauldron shop in the distance. "Professor, I want to buy a cauldron."
After getting permission, Kyle handed the birdcage to Dumbledore and dashed to the shop. He picked up the copper cauldron he'd had his eye on earlier and happily paid for it.

By the time they finished shopping in Diagon Alley, the sun was high in the sky.
"We've missed lunch at Hogwarts," Dumbledore said, checking his watch.
Kyle, now dressed in his wizard robes, examined the copper cauldron in his hands. "Professor, does Hogwarts have a kitchen?"
"Of course. Our meals don't just appear out of thin air. Why do you ask?"
Swallowing hard, Kyle looked at Dumbledore with anticipation. "Let's go back to Hogwarts! To the kitchen! Let me treat you to a dish from the East!"
Dumbledore agreed with a smile, curious to see what Kyle had in mind.
"Let's go. This time, we'll Apparate back to Hogwarts."
Grabbing Dumbledore's arm, Kyle felt himself being squeezed into a ball, flushed down a toilet, and then spat out through a drain.
When he regained his senses, he was standing on Hogwarts grounds.
"Is this a space-time teleportation spell?" Kyle was thinking of the Flying Thunder God Technique.
"Hmm, you could say that."
"Professor! I want to learn this!" Kyle's eyes turned into stars.
"That spell is a bit advanced for you right now. Let's focus on lunch first."
---
Twenty minutes later, in the Hogwarts kitchen.
The kitchen was a large, high-ceilinged room, as big as the Great Hall above.
Shiny copper pots and pans lined the stone walls, and a large brick fireplace stood at the far end.
Four long tables were arranged in the same positions as the house tables in the Great Hall.
Kyle and Dumbledore sat across from each other, a cauldron of bubbling crimson broth between them.
Kyle dipped a slice of beef into the spicy broth and placed it on Dumbledore's plate.
"Professor, enjoy."
The spicy aroma of the broth hit Dumbledore's nose, making his mouth water.
But the mountain of chili peppers and peppercorns Kyle had thrown into the pot earlier made him hesitate.
