Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Spicy Broth

Dumbledore felt that even if he were to starve to death, jump off the Astronomy Tower, or perish outside the castle, he would never touch a single thing from that cauldron.

But seeing Kyle's hopeful eyes, Dumbledore couldn't bring himself to refuse. He picked up his knife and fork, ready to face his doom, and took a bite of the beef Kyle had placed on his plate.

The next second, Dumbledore's tightly closed eyes shot open.

It's quite good!

"I'm curious where you discovered such a delicacy."

"I read about it in an old recipe book" Kyle replied, picking up another slice of beef to eat himself, though he lamented the lack of certain ingredients in Hogwarts' kitchen.

After a few slices of beef, Dumbledore put down his utensils and took a sip of iced wine from his goblet.

"This level of spiciness is a bit too much for a man over a hundred years old."

Kyle: "…"

Alright, then you can stick to the mild broth.

Staring at the copper cauldron, Kyle slowly formed a hand seal.

A puff of white smoke rose, and the cauldron instantly transformed into a divided pot, with the mild broth contained on one side.

Wandless Transfiguration?

Dumbledore was momentarily stunned by Kyle's talent but quickly regained his composure.

Of course—being Grindelwald's son explains the talent.

With that thought, Dumbledore no longer felt surprised. Calmly, he called over a kitchen house-elf to fill an empty pot with mild broth.

House-elves were small, elf-like creatures with bat-like ears, bulging tennis-ball-sized eyes, and long, flat noses.

They were a race conquered by wizards in ancient wars. Every elf was born into servitude, trained from birth to serve wizards for generations.

The broth Kyle and Dumbledore were enjoying had been prepared by these house-elves under Kyle's guidance.

"Professor, after buying my wand and books, does that mean I'm officially enrolled and will start attending classes with the other students?"

Dumbledore, busy with the broth, shook his head while chewing.

After swallowing the beef, Dumbledore explained:

"This school year is already halfway through. If you start now, you'll fall behind in the curriculum. You'll enroll with the next class of first-years in September."

"Can I sit in on the professors' classes in the meantime?"

Dumbledore finally swallowed the food in his mouth. "Sitting in shouldn't be a problem."

He then pulled a piece of parchment from his pocket and handed it to Kyle.

"This is the first-year timetable. I personally recommend starting with Professor Flitwick's Charms class, followed by Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration."

"Their current progress might be a bit advanced for you, but even so, these classes will be very helpful."

"If you have any questions about magic, you can find me in the Headmaster's office on the eighth floor of the castle. The password is 'Sherbet Lemon.'"

Kyle took the timetable and examined it closely.

The parchment had two different schedules printed on either side—one for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, and the other for Slytherin and Ravenclaw.

Kyle remembered that in the movies, the protagonist Harry Potter and the brat he'd dealt with in Diagon Alley today were from Gryffindor and Slytherin, respectively.

He was sure the movies often showed Gryffindor and Slytherin having classes together.

But looking at the timetable, it seemed the two rival houses only shared Potions and Flying lessons?

Must be creative liberties from the movies, Kyle decided, brushing aside the inconsistency.

All four houses had Charms and Transfiguration in the afternoon, just in different orders.

Compared to Transfiguration, Kyle was more interested in Charms, so he decided to first sit in on Ravenclaw's Charms class.
