Harry Potter: The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Busking on the Street

As Light controlled the wand, the Textbooks floating in the air slowly fell into his hand. Now he was certain that he had completely mastered the Levitation Charm.

This made it even harder for him to fall asleep. Looking at the second spell, 'Lumos', his heart started itching again.

So he continued to wave his wand and began to cast the spell.

As expected, the first attempt was a failure.

The second attempt also ended in failure.

Light wasn't discouraged. Instead, he had a hunch.

Sure enough, the third attempt was successful. A soft light emitted from the tip of the wand.

The light illuminated Light's pensive face.

"It seems that the Mileage Points don't increase the proficiency of Spells. Instead, they increase my aptitude for a certain type of magic. The higher the aptitude, the easier it is to learn Spells. Just like Hermione in the original story, who self-taught magic without anyone's guidance."

"Now that I've added one point to White Magic, according to the standard that level five is for an ordinary wizard, I should be able to basically self-learn the basic Spells recorded in this Textbooks."

"Then~, it seems my cheat is really powerful. As long as I have enough Mileage Points, my potential is limitless! It seems I can't just stand by and watch. I also need to get involved in the plot and find ways to get more Mileage Points."

While Light was still thinking, the light on the wand suddenly disappeared, and at the same time, he felt a wave of weakness in his body.

"Out of Magic Power," Light immediately understood his situation.

Knowing that he couldn't continue to explore the mysteries of magic, Light stuffed the Textbooks and wand under his pillow and fell into a deep sleep, exhausted from the complete depletion of his Magic Power.

"Get up! It's time to go to work," a loud shout woke Light, who was sleeping soundly.

The negative effects of staying up late last night and the depletion of Magic Power also showed up.

"I'm so weak. I can't even exert any strength. It's so uncomfortable."

After enduring this day with his weak body, Light lay in bed. He knew he couldn't keep going like this. If he did, he wouldn't be able to practice magic at all.

At the same time, he was also calculating his next steps: "First of all, I can't waste the Mileage Points. After all, there are still many areas where I need to allocate them. I need to increase my Magic Power, Transfiguration, and Dark Magic. I don't have many points now. I'll wait until I enter Hogwarts and then allocate them according to the situation. I need to be steady."

"All I can do now is learn the White Magic in the Textbooks. After I'm done, I can even act as a magician and do some street performances."

"After all, the timing is perfect for me now. My wand hasn't been attached with a tracking spell yet. I'm not afraid of being tracked by the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic."

Thinking of this, Light took out the Textbooks from under his pillow and began to review the basic Spells he had learned yesterday.

...

"I wonder where Light has been these days. I haven't seen him at all," asked a child in the same dormitory.

"Yeah! Yeah! And he even introduced all his jobs to us! I wonder if something has happened to him," a tired childish voice chimed in.

"He must have been adopted! He looks down on us now. He has a family, so of course he has to draw a line with us!" came a sarcastic voice.

"Aren't you guys tired after a day's work? I'm beat. Hurry up and rest. You still have to help with the cleaning after dinner!"

A voice tinged with annoyance abruptly ended this topic.

...

"This magic trick is so amazing. I just can't spot any flaws no matter how hard I look."

"Dad, Dad! Look, look! This hat is floating by itself!"

"That's all for today's magic show. Thanks a lot for your support! Thank you!"

A neatly - dressed Chinese teenage boy with delicate features bowed to the onlookers, announcing the end of this Busking on the Street magic show.

After seeing the audience disperse, Light packed up his things. After counting today's earnings, he heaved a long sigh.

Then he sighed and thought, "Spells are really handy. The money comes in so quickly."

When he returned to the orphanage, it was already past dinner time. But as soon as he entered the door, he still saw that Mrs. Cott had left dinner for Light.

Mrs. Cott asked with a kind smile, "How did your first performance go today?"

Light replied with a grin, "Everything went great."

Mrs. Cott sized up Light from head to toe carefully. Not finding any problems, she nodded with satisfaction and said,

"That's good. Go and get some rest after dinner! You must be worn out today." After saying that, she turned around and left to start cleaning.

Light chewed the bread while musing:

"I've fully mastered these basic Spells now. It seems my inference that adding points increases potential is correct. So I can't just be a spectator when I'm at Hogwarts."

"There's still over half a month until school starts. Judging from my current Busking on the Street situation, I should be able to pay off the student loan before school begins."

...

On the streets of London, Light was performing a magic show.

With a flick of the wand in his right hand, the black top hat that was on the ground originally flew into his left hand.

The brim of the hat was facing upward, and the tip of the wand was gently pointed at nothing in particular.

Countless playing cards shot out from the brim of the hat. Then Light waved the wand in his hand, and the previously scattered playing cards lined up neatly and swayed like a long snake as he waved the wand.

Light put down the top hat with his left hand. Then, with a gentle tap of the wand in his right hand on his left hand, the playing cards neatly piled up in his left hand.

The audience watched this magical scene and excitedly applauded, throwing tips into the prepared small box.

Seeing that the sun was setting soon, Light bowed to the audience and said, "Thanks a million for your support. Today is my last day of performing."

This is the last act for today. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Light raised his left fist and tossed it into the air. Countless yellow flower petals emerged.

With a wave of the wand in his right hand, the flower petals floating in the air all glowed with a soft white light and began to dance as if commanded by the wand, just like elves dancing in the night.

Then, Light picked up the top hat and waved the wand at the brim. The flower petals floating in the air fluttered into the hat one by one.

Before anyone could even blink, Light quickly gathered his things and scooted off, so as not to get stuck.

This was an experience Light had learned after getting stuck a few times.

On the way back to the orphanage, Light began to summarize the Spells he had just used.

The Summoning Charm Accio, which retrieved the playing cards and flower petals, was used very well.

However, it was a bit strenuous to control so many playing cards and flower petals with the Levitation Charm Wingardium Leviosa.

When he returned to the orphanage, he had dinner and then went back to his small bed.

He started to count the money he had on hand. Adding up the banknotes he had exchanged with loose change before, he had over a thousand pounds in total.

Light thought, "If I exchange all this money for Galleons tomorrow, I can pay off the loan."

Light still stuck to the thought of "no debts, no worries" from his homeland.

Looking at the money in his hand, he sighed about the hardships of his half - month busking career.
