Harry Potter: The Wizard of Apocalypse

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Return to the Apocalypse

It was a sunny Monday morning.

While his two roommates were fast asleep, Ian quietly lowered his bed curtains, ensuring that he was the only one in the space for a short period of time.

Looking at the countdown in his mind: 00:00:03...

After a trance, Ian returned to the familiar environment. Although it was only a second away, it still felt like a lifetime ago.

Green mountains are green mountains, and white clouds are white clouds.

The figure in the vegetable garden was still busy, although Ian didn't know what she was doing most of the time...

Sometimes Ian really wanted to walk up and say that growing vegetables isn't like taking care of cubs; there's no need to be so cautious.

But when he thought of the other person's sensitive self-esteem, he gave up the idea and just let her be, as long as she was happy.

Ian was still leaning on the recliner at the door, which was his exclusive seat. He could enjoy the warm afternoon sun and see the entire courtyard at a glance. If there was any disturbance or emergency, he could always respond immediately.

Of course, this is just Ian's wishful thinking. The height was five meters above the ground, the thickness several dozen centimeters, and the wooden piles buried two meters deep underground.

Such a solid wall made of solid wood would probably take some effort for a Brown Bear Parasite, let alone a Human Parasite, to get in.

With his eyes half-closed and slumped in the comfortable recliner, Ian stared blankly at the clouds in the distance. Two days before returning to the end of the world, he didn't plan to do anything and just wanted to make the best of his laziness.

In a state of half-sleep and half-wakefulness, time passed by minute by minute.

It wasn't until dusk that a west wind started to blow, bringing a slight chill from afar, and it finally woke up the lazy Ian.

"The weather has changed! I wonder how many people won't survive this winter."

Ian looked at the dark clouds in the northwest sky and muttered to himself.

Although it was around mid-October, the geographical location here was obviously equivalent to Northern Europe in the previous life, so after the sun went down, the temperature difference between day and night was still quite large.

Ian slowly stood up, greeted Irene in the distance, and went into the room to prepare dinner.

Although he said he was preparing dinner, he actually just took out ready-made food from his backpack. Since it was the first day, he didn't have to worry about the food going bad, so he simply asked for a lot of cooked dishes from the Hogwarts kitchen.

Although these dishes are very common at Hogwarts, they are unusually sumptuous in the last days of frugality.

A whole roast chicken, sliced veal steaks, a vegetable salad platter, soft strawberry pudding, and a variety of fruit pastries were all placed by Ian on the newly purchased oval dining table.

"You can understand that today is a special day. So, stop being in a daze, wash your hands, and get ready to enjoy dinner."

Ian looked at Irene, who was staring at the dining table in a daze after entering the room, and couldn't help but remind her.

...

After washing up, Irene sat down and said softly:

"Is today your birthday? Sorry, I didn't know, and I don't have a special birthday present for you, but I can give this to you as a birthday present."

As she spoke, she reached into her collar and took out a teardrop-shaped emerald jade pendant from under her high collar. She took it off and held it in her palm. She continued in a cold and gentle voice, "It comes from my father's hometown, far east. When I was eight years old, I returned to his hometown with my father. My grandmother gave it to me as a gift. It is said that this is a gem that brings good luck."

Against the backdrop of the emerald green, the thin little hands looked even whiter and more slender. Ian was stunned for a moment as he looked at the gift that the other party had given him unexpectedly.

Irene glanced at Ian and continued, "I'm not stupid. I know you've been taking care of me for the past month. Take it. I have nothing left. Really, this is all I have left..."

Even if Ian was slow-witted, he could tell that something was wrong with her mood at the moment.

He quickly took the pendant handed over by the other party, held it in his hand, felt the warmth and fragrance coming from the jade, and put it on his neck without saying a word. Then he said:

"Thank you for the gift. You know what? This is the first gift I have received since my mother passed away. I will keep it well."

Ian didn't know what to say. Although today wasn't his birthday, it was obviously not appropriate to say such words at this moment.

However, he did not have much tie or sense of belonging to this world, so he couldn't empathize with Irene's sadness and could not say words of comfort.

"I might as well let her misunderstand that today is my birthday," Ian thought secretly.

"Don't think too much. At least we are still alive, right? Come and eat. This is the dinner I brought from a faraway fairy tale world. It will be bad if it gets cold."

Ian said jokingly, pushing the prepared tableware towards Irene.

The house-elves in the Hogwarts kitchen are definitely good cooks, and the delicious food instantly captured the other party's taste buds.

After eating and drinking, Ian looked at Irene, who looked very satisfied, and said with a smile: "That's right, live every day happily. By the way, I didn't expect you to eat so much food. I don't usually restrict you from eating. It seems that I have been starving you for a long time."

Ian just rolled his eyes in response. Delicious and hearty food can really make people put aside all their worries. After putting down the tableware, Irene asked softly, "I've seen you riding that broom every day. What's the situation outside now? I could hear some news on the radio before, but now there is no news at all. Is there no survivors outside?"

Although there was still some sadness in her tone when she asked this, she felt much better.

Ian shook his head and said in a low voice: "I don't know about other places, but there are probably no survivors in this city. But I don't think the world will end like this. There must be people who survived in other cities and other countries."

Irene was obviously disappointed when she heard this, and murmured, "What happened to this world? Why did it suddenly become like this?"

"Don't think too much about it for now. As long as we are alive, we will always be able to find a way to figure things out in the future. I mean, even if there are only two of us left in this world, so what? We still have to live well, don't we?"

Ian could only comfort the other person in this way for now. After all, he was also very curious about what was going on in this world.

It's not that he wants to be a so-called savior, but he wants to find out what the parasitic fungi will become if they continue to evolve and whether they will pose a threat to him.

Judging from the current situation, he, who possesses the power of a wizard, can fully ensure his own safety and survival.

But Ian's style of doing things has always been to take precautions before problems arise, rather than just looking at the present.

While Ian was thinking, he didn't notice that just after he said "the two of us," Irene's somewhat helpless eyes suddenly brightened up, as if an old statue was injected with new life.

...

After seeing that they were both full, Ian decisively drew out his wand.

"Scourgify!"

The plates that were a little greasy before suddenly became as clean as new, and then a levitation charm was used to make them line up in a row and float back to the shelf obediently.

"No matter how many times I see it, I always feel that it is really magical," Irene said with some envy.

Ian never shied away from others when using magic. As mentioned before, there is no such novel as "Harry Potter" in this world, so he doesn't have to worry about anything.

Not to mention that there are only him and Irene here. Even if this world is intact, Ian will not have too many concerns. As a proficient wizard, he can handle situations involving magic with ease.

Of course, what we are referring to here are wizards like Ian, who have certain strength after their magic power awakens for the second time.

In fact, the magical world is still dominated by those who only know some magic spells for daily life. They are the mainstream population. This may be the reason why the Ministry of Magic is afraid of the consequences and has to issue the Statute of Secrecy.

"Haha. Yes, magic is always fascinating."

Ian responded with a chuckle, then said seriously, "Irene, I still suggest that you move in here. The world outside is undergoing earth-shaking changes every day. Although it's hard to notice, it's too late by the time you notice it."

Irene was slightly shaken when she heard this. After all, after a month of getting along, she had already accepted and recognized Ian. Perhaps she was a little angry about what he said before.

But today, she didn't know why, she felt that Ian had changed a lot, and when he casually mentioned "the two of us," she let go of all her worries.

Therefore, Irene hesitated for a moment and answered affirmatively:

"You're right. We are the only ones here, so we should live well. I'll go back and pack up now. There's nothing important here, but we still have to bring the stored food here. We can't just waste it."

"I'll go with you. This is our last night. You should know that many unexpected things in movies happen at times like this. By the way, you don't need to bring daily necessities. You know, there is nothing missing here."

Ian said this jokingly while imitating the protagonist's final farewell movements in the movie.

This funny scene successfully made Irene laugh. After rolling her eyes at him, she said softly, "Then let's go. We should leave as soon as possible and return early."

...

Ian returned to the room, put on his infinitely extending backpack, and then walked out of the wall with Irene, who was already standing at the door.
