Hazard Grand Order

Chapter 1: Bit 01

So here is my first chapter of the FGO/Digimon crossover AU, hope you guys liked it.

I made Takato and Ritsuka Half-British because it started as an Omake of an AU of another fic named Forgotten Grand Order where Ritsuka was half-brit, and a streamer who played FGO not knowing his game Avatar truly saved the FGO worldline. so it's a carryover from it starting as an Omake.

The airport buzzed with the chatter of travelers, the steady hum of announcements over the intercom, and the occasional rolling of luggage across polished floors. Yet, for Takato Schmidt, none of that mattered. His world had already shrunk down to a single moment, a crushing inevitability he couldn't fight.

Tears brimmed in his eyes as he looked up at his mother, Yoshie, his hands clenched tightly at his sides. "Why do we have to leave?" His voice trembled, a desperate plea. "Why can't we stay?"

His mother knelt beside him, her gentle hands resting on his shoulders. "Takato, sweetheart," she soothed, her own sadness barely concealed behind her warm smile. "It'll be safer in Britain. It's a chance for us to meet new people, learn a new culture. And we won't have to worry about—"

She hesitated, but Takato knew exactly what she meant. They wouldn't have to worry about Digimon. They wouldn't have to worry about another incident like the D-Reaper.

It wasn't fair.

The Wild Ones had stopped coming. He and the other Tamers had lost their Digimon after they defeated the D-Reaper. They had won, and saved both the Digital and Real Worlds, but at the cost of losing their closest partners. And yet, even after that, no one trusted him anymore. They all looked at him like he was fragile, like he would break if they so much as breathed wrong.

Even his big brother, Ritsuka, only two years older than him, treated him like glass. Always watching him, always staying close, as if Takato would vanish into thin air if left alone. Ritsuka had always been protective, but now it was suffocating. Takato wasn't made of porcelain—he didn't need to be coddled. He just wanted things to go back to the way they were.

But they wouldn't. Not ever.

Their father, Bob Schmidt, stood by the terminal, double-checking their passports and tickets with a calm efficiency. A British man with a pragmatic outlook, he had reassured them that this move was for the best, that everything would be fine. But Takato didn't feel fine. He felt like everything was slipping through his fingers.

When the final boarding call rang out, he followed his family toward the plane, his steps heavy. He turned back one last time, his heart clenching at the sight of his friends standing beyond the airport window, waving at him. Jeri, Henry, Rika—everyone. He saw their smiles, their encouraging nods, but it didn't make leaving any easier.

One last tear escaped down his cheek, and he clutched his golden D-Arc in his hand, holding onto it like a lifeline.

I wish Guilmon was here.

And with that thought, he turned away, stepping onto the plane, leaving behind the only home he had ever known.

Four years later…

Takato sat on a plane once again, staring out the window as the icy landscape of Antarctica came into view. He was fourteen now, and his older brother Ritsuka, sitting beside him, was seventeen. Their destination was a place neither of them had ever expected to go—an elite, top-secret international academy hidden deep within Antarctica.

It had all started after a routine visit to donate blood after school. The very next day, men dressed in Victorian-era clothing arrived at their home. They spoke formally, carrying an air of authority, and had first requested only Ritsuka to accompany them, claiming he was one of the rare few chosen to enter a highly classified institution. Their parents, oddly dazed and compliant, agreed without question. But they barely seemed to register Takato's presence at all.

Then, one of the men murmured about "the boy with an insane amount of Od in his blood—more than even the oldest and most gifted magi, a hundred times over." As his eyes glowed unnaturally, a hazy, invasive feeling washed over Takato's mind. He felt as if he were being pushed into oblivion.

Ritsuka, ever the protective older brother, stepped forward sharply. "Takato isn't going anywhere without me," he declared, his voice unyielding. "Especially not with strangers we've never met."

As if shaken from a spell, their parents snapped out of their daze, looking around in confusion. The men, realizing resistance would only make things difficult, instead produced a second invitation—one with Takato's name written on it.

Despite their unease, their parents ultimately decided this opportunity was for the best, encouraging their sons to attend. And now, here they were.

The plane touched down, and soon, the two brothers found themselves standing in front of an imposing building. Bold letters above the entrance spelled Chaldea.

Takato barely had time to take it in before a wave of dizziness washed over him. The long flight, the cold air, and the sheer surrealism of the situation weighed heavily on his mind. He swayed slightly, closing his eyes just for a moment.

Beside him, Ritsuka let out a long yawn before abruptly slumping forward, fast asleep. In an instant, he dragged Takato down with him, wrapping his arms tightly around his younger brother like a teddy bear.

With a surprised squeak, Takato landed flat on the floor, trapped in his brother's grip. "Ritsuka…!" he groaned, trying to pry himself free.

His protests were ignored as Ritsuka happily snored, drooling slightly as he held onto Takato like a lifeline. The soft rise and fall of his breath mixed with the steady hum of the hall, and despite himself, Takato felt the warmth seep into his tired limbs.

At first, Takato frowned in annoyance, but the warmth was oddly comforting. The moment stretched, his frustration ebbing away. He let out a quiet sigh, his body relaxing against his brother's embrace.

The cold floor of the Chaldea facility, the confusion about their sudden summoning, the strange men and their odd words—it could all wait. Right now, wrapped up in the only constant he had left, Takato found his eyes growing heavy.

With a resigned sigh, he let sleep claim him, right there in the middle of the hallway, cradled in his brother's arms.

--------------------------------

He found himself in a vast chamber, dimly lit with an eerie red glow. Before him lay a massive stone slab, cracked and worn, with an enormous figure carved into its surface—Megidramon. Chains, rusted and strained, wrapped around the slab, appearing as though they would snap at any moment. The Digital Hazard symbol on Megidramon's chest pulsed in crimson intervals, filling the air with an ominous energy.

Takato took a step back, his breath hitching. The sight dredged up painful memories—the time he had forced Guilmon to evolve into Megidramon against Beelzemon, nearly losing him in the process. Fear clutched at his heart, urging him to run.

Before he could turn, a voice echoed through the chamber. "Destined Knight of the Third Seat, the Crimson Shield of the Royal Knights, the Dragon of Armageddon. The end is coming. Be ready to fight it. And if you lose… do not hesitate to become the beast of the end, and return everything to zero."

His eyes darted upward. Twelve knightly figures loomed above, their faces obscured in shadow. At the chamber's ceiling, gnarled roots wrapped around a radiant orb of pure light. The moment his gaze fell upon it, an unseen force drove him to his knees.

The voice softened, now warm and paternal. "Oh, my lost knight, among the three who are meant to lead. Though this worldline has separated us, and you were born of flesh rather than data, our reunion is inevitable. When the time comes, you shall stand beside your brothers with pride, and keep the world's twin safe."

The chamber trembled, the chains around Megidramon rattling violently. Cracks spread across the stone slab, light seeping through. A deep growl resonated through the air, and the heat of something ancient and powerful pressed against Takato's skin.

Takato gasped, clutching his right hand. The Digital Hazard symbol now pulsed on his own skin, glowing in sync with the imprisoned beast. The voices of the knights whispered around him, both a warning and a promise.

"Stay strong brother"

"show no mercy for the ones who will threaten both of our worlds!"

"Never forsake your pride as a knight!!!"

"Will we ever meet?"

As the words faded, Takato felt a rush of warmth envelop him. Then, darkness swallowed the chamber, and he awoke with a start—still on the cold floor of Chaldea, cradled in his brother's arms.

-----------------------

Takato stirred, still drowsy from his nap, as a warm, wet sensation brushed against his cheek. He groaned lightly, mumbling, "Five more minutes, Guilmon… I'll play with you later..."

In response, a small, furry creature nestled against his chest let out a curious sound. "Fou?"

Slowly cracking his eyes open, Takato found himself staring up into the inquisitive gaze of a tiny, white-furred animal perched on his chest. It had large, expressive eyes and ears that twitched with curiosity. The creature blinked down at him, tilting its head as if confused by his words.

"Huh?" Takato muttered, still caught between sleep and wakefulness.

Meanwhile, Ritsuka was already up, speaking with a young woman with short pink hair who had helped him to his feet.

she glanced toward Takato, a surprised expression crossed her face. "Oh? Fou seems really comfortable around you," she noted, tilting her head. "That's rare. Usually, Fuu only acts this relaxed around me."

Takato, still feeling a bit groggy, reached up and scratched behind Fou's ear, watching as the little creature purred in delight and nuzzled against his cheek. For some reason, Takato felt an odd sense of familiarity, as though there was something shared between them—something he couldn't quite place. Despite not knowing why, he couldn't help but smile.

"So, uh… what exactly is Fou?" he asked, shifting the small animal so it rested comfortably in his arms.

The pink-haired girl smiled warmly. "His name is Fou, and he's a privileged lifeform that roams around Chaldea freely. He usually stays close to me, though."

Takato gave a slow nod, watching as Fou—Fou—continued purring happily against him. It was oddly comforting.

Ritsuka, now realizing he hadn't properly introduced himself, suddenly stiffened as he turned back to the girl. His cheeks reddened slightly. "Ah! Uh, I'm Ritsuka! Ritsuka Schmidt!" he stammered shyly.

Takato glanced up at his brother, surprised by the unusual nervousness in his voice. He had never seen Ritsuka act so flustered before. Realizing that he had also forgotten to introduce himself, he quickly straightened up, still holding Fou carefully.

"Oh! I'm Takato! Takato Schmidt! Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude," he added sheepishly.

Mash giggled at their reactions. "It's alright, Takato-kun. And Ritsuka-senpai, it's nice to meet you both."

Ritsuka blinked in confusion, his blush deepening. "Wait… why are you calling me senpai? You were here first, right? Shouldn't I be the junior one here?"

Mash's face turned slightly pink as she averted her eyes, fidgeting with her hands. "W-Well, you just seem like a nice person, and I… I think I'd like calling you senpai…" she admitted softly.

Before the conversation could continue, a voice broke through their lighthearted exchange.

"Ah, I see the new candidates are already getting along," a smooth, charismatic voice called out.

The group turned to see a tall man with long dark hair approaching. He wore a green coat, his sharp eyes scanning them with an unreadable smile.

"My name is Lev Lainur Flauros," he introduced himself, his voice calm and pleasant. "It's wonderful to meet you all. But while I'm happy to see you all bonding so well, we have business to attend to. Ritsuka, Takato—you are both new Master candidates, and the director is expecting you in the staff meeting."

Takato frowned slightly. "Master candidates?" he echoed, confused. "I thought Chaldea was supposed to be a school…"

Lev chuckled lightly, but didn't provide an answer. Instead, his gaze flickered toward Takato's right hand, where a faint red mark glowed—the unmistakable symbol of the Digital Hazard. His eyes lingered on it for a second before shifting back to his usual pleasant expression.

"Come along now," Lev said smoothly. "We wouldn't want to keep the director waiting."

With that, Mash and Ritsuka began following Lev down the hall. Takato hesitated briefly, still holding Fou in his arms, before he hurried after them, his mind swirling with questions. What did Lev mean by "Master candidates"? And why did it feel like Chaldea was hiding something far bigger than just an elite academy?

--------------------------------

The atmosphere inside the grand meeting hall was tense, the weight of the unknown pressing down on everyone present. Seated at the head of the table, Olga Marie Animusphere, the stern yet composed director of Chaldea, tapped her fingers impatiently against the polished surface as she addressed the room.

"Team A's first mission is of utmost importance," she declared, her sharp gaze scanning the assembled group. "After extensive research and observation, we have located a singularity that may provide insight into why we cannot see humanity's future beyond 2018."

She continued speaking, her tone commanding, but as she did, her eyes flickered toward the back of the room, where two new figures sat quietly. Takato and Ritsuka, the newest arrivals, had taken seats toward the rear, uncertain about what to expect.

Olga Marie's frown deepened. "And who might you be?" she asked, her voice cutting through the room like a blade. "The two of you in the back—introduce yourselves."

Takato, who had been distracted, staring down at the strange red mark on his hand, jolted upright at the sound of his name. He looked around, suddenly aware that all eyes in the room had turned toward him. The people gathered here ranged in age from their mid-twenties to their sixties, and most of them bore expressions that hovered between mild annoyance and disinterest. Their gazes made Takato's skin prickle, and his heart pounded uncomfortably in his chest.

He gulped, feeling small under their scrutiny. Pushing himself up from his seat, he forced his voice to work. "I-I'm Takato Schmidt," he said, his face heating up as he bowed slightly. "I'm from Japan—well, originally, anyway... I, um, came here with my brother."

As soon as he finished speaking, he sat down abruptly, wishing he could disappear. Olga Marie gave a curt nod. "Thank you, Takato. You may sit."

Then she turned her attention to Ritsuka. "And you?"

As everyone waited for the black-haired teen to raise and introduce himself, suddenly a loud snore echoed through the meeting hall, followed by an unexpected tug. Takato gasped as he was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace—Ritsuka had fallen asleep mid-meeting and was now hugging him like a teddy bear.

"H-hey! Ritsuka!" Takato squeaked, his face burning in embarrassment. He struggled against his brother's grip, but Ritsuka only squeezed him tighter, nuzzling against his shoulder like a content house cat.

"Mmm... best pillow... so warm…" Ritsuka mumbled in his sleep, a goofy grin on his face.

Takato's face was now a bright shade of crimson. "I am NOT a pillow! Wake up already!"

The murmurs and chuckles that spread across the room only deepened his mortification. One of the older staff members coughed politely to hide their amusement, while Mash covered her mouth, trying not to giggle too loudly.

Olga Marie, however, was not amused. Her eye twitched, and with a sigh of absolute exasperation, she marched over to the sleeping Ritsuka. Without warning, she delivered a swift slap to his face.

The sound echoed through the hall.

"OW!" Ritsuka yelped, jolting awake with a bright red handprint on his cheek. He blinked rapidly, glancing around in confusion before turning toward Olga Marie with watery eyes. "T-that was mean! You don't know how hard it is to wake up once I'm comfortable!"

Takato sighed, already used to his brother's antics. "This is exactly why I don't sit next to you when we travel," he muttered, rubbing his temples.

Olga Marie groaned, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "I don't have time for this nonsense. If you two are done wasting everyone's time, we have a mission briefing to continue."

Ritsuka slumped in his seat, grumbling about "strict directors" while rubbing his cheek. Takato simply wished the floor would open up and swallow him whole.

Just when Takato thought the humiliation was over, Fou, who had been lounging in Mash's lap, decided to make his move., "FOU!!!" With a swift jump, the little creature launched itself onto Takato's face, curling up comfortably and immediately falling asleep.

Takato staggered slightly, his voice muffled beneath Fou's fluff. "Mmpf—why does everything use me as a pillow?!"

Mash giggled as Ritsuka wiped a tear from his eye. "At least Fou has good taste."

Olga Marie pinched the bridge of her nose again, muttering something about "bringing in children" before returning to the main briefing.

As the meeting wrapped up, Lev Lainur Flauros approached the brothers. "Come, I'll take you both to your quarters. You'll need rest before tomorrow's training."

----------------------

Still holding his stinging cheek, Ritsuka followed Lev with Takato by his side. "She really doesn't know how to wake someone up properly..."

Takato sighed. "You were sleeping in the middle of an important meeting."

"But still... so mean..."

As they walked, Fou snuggled further into Takato's arms, his tiny snores echoing softly. Takato could do nothing but sigh, resigned to his fate as a living plush toy.

"This is the weirdest school I ever had the displeasure to go to," he muttered under his breath as he followed his brother to their quarters, wondering if his new life at Chaldea was going to be more bizarre than he had anticipated.

----------------------

As soon as Takato and Ritsuka entered their assigned room, they froze at the sight before them. A man with messy orange hair was sprawled across one of the two beds, snoring softly, with an open laptop resting on his stomach. The screen displayed a live stream of a VTuber named "Meri Meri," an energetic girl currently dancing to Just Dance while donations flooded the chat.

Takato, looking absolutely done with the situation, turned to Ritsuka and deadpanned, "Big bro, can we go home now? I'm starting to think this isn't a school."

Ritsuka, eyes still locked on the screen, furrowed his brows. "Wait a minute… that's a guy."

The sleeping man instantly shot up, gasping dramatically. "Who dares to slander my waifu?!" he exclaimed, looking around wildly before spotting the two new arrivals.

Ritsuka snorted in amusement at the man's reaction, while Takato, completely exhausted by the day's bizarre events, simply sat on the unoccupied bed. "So, is this actually a school or…?" he muttered while rubbing the back of his head.

The orange-haired man chuckled, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "A school? Oh wow, that's a new one." His expression softened as he offered a friendly smile. "Name's Romani Archaman, but you can just call me Dr. Roman. I'm Chaldea's head doctor."

Takato and Ritsuka introduced themselves in kind, before Ritsuka, still skeptical, answered the doctor's unspoken question. "We were told we were coming to an international academy for the gifted, some fancy school for rich kids."

Romani chuckled again, but this time there was a more serious tone behind his laughter. "Well… not exactly. Chaldea is actually an observatory that monitors both past and future events to ensure humanity's survival. It uses the ultimate combination of magecraft and science to send Masters to the past to fix singularities. You were likely scouted because you possess exceptional potential as a Master. That's why you were brought here."

Takato's eyes sparkled with excitement. "So… magic is real?"

Romani sighed, crossing his arms. "Yes, but that doesn't mean it's a game or some grand adventure. Magecraft is dangerous, Takato, and this world isn't as kind as you think it is."

Takato's enthusiasm wavered slightly, but he still seemed hopeful. "But we could learn, right? I mean, if we're here, doesn't that mean we have potential?"

Before Romani could answer, Ritsuka, for the first time looking genuinely serious, interrupted. "And what if we want to leave? Now that we know all this, is there a problem if we drop out?"

Romani frowned, nodding toward Ritsuka. "That's a good question. If you truly don't want to be here, leaving is an option. But considering how much you already know, you'd likely have your memories altered by a magus to remove any classified information." He turned to Takato. "I think your brother has the right idea in being cautious, Takato. You might think you're ready for this, but this world is not something to take lightly."

Takato clenched his fists, his expression growing darker. "I'm not ten anymore, Ritsuka! I saved the world once already! I'm sick and tired of everyone being so overprotective of me. Is four years not enough for you to let me make my own decisions?!"

Romani shook his head. "Takato, I understand you feel ready, but that doesn't mean you are. Ritsuka is right to worry about you. The world you'd be stepping into is cruel, and if you're not prepared, you won't survive it."

Ritsuka nodded. "Exactly. I promised our parents I'd take care of you. Acting as some kind of time-policing force and diving into dangerous situations is the last thing I want to do."

Takato's anger faltered slightly at Romani and Ritsuka both siding against him. "But…" he started, his voice quieter now, as if doubt was starting to creep in.

Before the conversation could continue, the room trembled violently. A loud explosion rocked the facility, shaking the walls and making the lights flicker.

The alarms blared instantly, and red warning lights flashed along the hallways.

Romani shot to his feet, his expression shifting from calm to alarmed. "That came from the Rayshift chamber! I need to go!" he exclaimed, rushing toward the door. "Stay here, both of you!"

Ignoring Romani's order, Takato and Ritsuka bolted after him, their argument forgotten as chaos erupted around them. The hallways were already flooding with personnel, some rushing toward the source of the explosion while others barked orders over communication lines.

Takato's heart pounded in his chest. "What the hell is happening?!"

Ritsuka, now fully alert, grabbed his little brother's wrist and pulled him to a safer position near the wall as panicked staff members ran past them. "Go follow Romani, and don't argue with me!" he insisted.

Romani cursed under his breath as he skidded to a stop near an intercom. "This is Dr. Roman! What's the status on Team A?!" he demanded.

A garbled voice responded over the speaker. "The Rayshift—Team A—it's—!"

The intercom cut out with static, and Romani's face paled.

Takato felt a chill run down his spine as the facility trembled once more. Whatever had just happened, it wasn't over. He saw his brother running toward the source of the explosion. Swallowing down his nervousness, Takato nodded to himself and took out his D-Arc from his pocket, glancing at it to feel braver. A second later, he ran after his brother with a determined look on his face.

------------------------

Takato and Ritsuka entered the Rayshift room, their eyes widening at the destruction before them. Flames licked the walls, broken machinery sparked with failing power, and debris lay scattered across the floor. A deafening alarm blared through the room, its shrill tone echoing in their ears. Above them, a massive countdown display continued ticking down:

15 SECONDS UNTIL RAYSHIFT TO SINGULARITY F.

Ritsuka groaned as he turned to Takato. "I told you to stay with Romani and Lev in the observation deck! Why are you here?!"

Takato, still angry from their earlier argument, clenched his fists. "I'm not some little kid who needs to be sheltered! I came here to help!"

Ritsuka groaned in frustration but before he could argue further, a weak, pained gasp from the far end of the room caught their attention, "S...sen...se... senpai..."

Both Takato and Ritsuka's eyes widened in shock. Without hesitation, they ran towards the voice, their earlier argument forgotten in an instant.

Lying on the floor amidst the wreckage was Mash Kyrielight, clutching her stomach, blood staining her uniform. Her usually vibrant violet eyes were clouded with pain, and her breathing was shallow.

"Mash!" Ritsuka shouted, dropping to his knees beside her.

Takato quickly followed, panic surging through him as he pressed his hands over the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. "Hang in there! We need to get you medical help!"

Mash gave them a weak, yet grateful smile. "Thank you… senpai… Takato-kun…"

10 SECONDS UNTIL RAYSHIFT.

"Damn it!" Ritsuka cursed, looking around frantically. "Romani! stop the countdown, there are still people here!!!"

Romani's voice was heard from the room's speakers, "I am trying!!! but I am locked from the system for some reason, where is Lev he usually knows how to fix this kind of stuff!!!"

"Senpai… please…" Mash whispered, reaching out weakly. "Hold my hand…"

Takato and Ritsuka didn't hesitate, each taking one of Mash's hands in their own. She smiled weakly, her grip trembling.

5 SECONDS UNTIL RAYSHIFT.

"Takato, one last time, get out of here!" Ritsuka pleaded, squeezing his little brother's hand. "You don't have to do this!"

Takato's face hardened with determination. "If I leave you and Mash behind… I'd never forgive myself."

3... 2... 1...

The room was swallowed by a blinding light.

And then, everything changed.
