Chapter 1: The Beautiful Days
In the corner of a large dark room only lit by a small flame in the middle, a devure was laying on his stomach with both of his legs up while reading a basic book, he said something oh so innocently, "Sir, what is a demon?"
The other one, sitting in another corner of that room answered, "Well, to start off, there were animals and monsters--"
"I already know all about that." The book continued to be read.
"Then, a demon is a kind of monster, a really strong one." His gaze remained, counting the coins in front of him.
"That's it?" Not needing a light to read, he turned the page of the book.
"No, little one, they are more than an 'it', they are a true abomination created from the depth of the abyss, even the Emperor scorns their existence."
Silence hold true for a few moments, As the avenya imagination ran wild about demons, a floating dying hands with eyes all over? A building made alive? The dark shadow turned into a blinding beast? Or an evil dragon? He shook his head.
"And where have you heard of animals and monsters before? Little avenya? I don't remember telling you anything about animals and monsters."
"From our kind neighbor, Heskan, he tells me that animals are friendly and that monsters will attack you, and also also, he showed me his book with drawings of all the animals and monster he has ever seen."
A big smile drawn across his face, remembering the feeling of that morning, where he and Heskan were sitting in the courtyard just next door, discussing animals down to the details, and not to mention the epic story about his journey long ago where he fights all kind of monster. But weirdly, he has never drawn a demon in his book, nor did he even talk about it, although the avenya was sure that Heskan had seen or even fight one before.
"That thing is no kind, and you should refrain from complimenting that creature."
The mister with long white hair stood up and grabbed a bottle from the cupboard in the middle of the room, his eyes matched perfectly with the red blood contained in the bottle.
"Compliment? What is that? And how come Heskan is not kind?" He began to sit down as his brown eyes frowned in disagreement.
"Well you'll learn that in another day, for now you should go to sleep so you can wake up early in the morning."
He began to drink the blood right from the bottle.
"You know I can't wake up early."
The avenya stood up from a cozy red sofa that has his dark olive beige hair all over. Standing almost as tall as the cupboards, he placed the book in a table, and walked toward the mister in the middle of the room.
"It is never bad to try."
The old devure gaze upon the young one and smile, the warmth of which was not kindly accepted by the other.
"I've tried enough." The candle flutter a tad bit.
The devure rushed up the stair like a fever dream, until he dawned upon his room and slammed the door shut, he slept and dreamed that day, maybe longer than he had ever been.
"Goodnight, my gentle avenya." The voice that he barely heard in his dream.
---
"Oh, how nice those days were to be"
"But as I remembered, it was the next day that it happens…"
---
In an open field while the sun was hanging low in the east, a voice can be heard, "So we begin, first, feel the energy around you."
"Yes and?" The avenya gathered around a ball of energy on top of his palm, transparent before, yet now he can see it with his own brown eyes, the energy was pure white, whiter than anything he had ever since. The energy didn't feel warm or cold, didn't smell good or bad, much like air, or yet less than that.
"Don't tell me… now connect it together and materialize it" His eyes were shocked, can yet to believe what he was seeing. The young avenya had realized a hollow white ball on his first attempt.
"That's it?" The ball crumbled to pieces and return to dust as he tried to touch it with his hand. "Well, that's not fun, how about we read a book instead? Sir?" He started playing with his hair that is long enough to touch his shoulder.
"Do you even realize what you did? It took me years to even materialize a sliver of energy, I believe you are what people called a genius, my avenya."
He stands up straighter and walked closer to the young devure, and started petting the young one in the head, which is taller than the old devure by a bit.
The avenya remained silent as the mister started to back away and took a firm stance, "Now, I think this would be better for you, watch and learn."
A sword suddenly appeared on the devure's right hand, he swings it at the wind a multiple times before he let it go, and it disappeared to dust once more.
The young devure tried to replicate what he saw, he duplicated the sword perfectly, but before he can even swing the sword, the slightest movement, and it fractured to a million pieces and scattered in the wind like everything will be.
"What?"
"No, that's not how you do it, you need to make a connection between the heart and the object, that way it becomes an extension of your body."
"Extension of my body? Is that even possible?" He thought to himself.
"Right Sir, I will try it" This time he connected his heart through the blood running in his vein, piercing his hand to reach the sword, connecting them like an eclipse, they became one. Before, he let the sword go, scattering the lifeless energy away.
"That's quite impressive, little one. With this achievement, maybe it's time for you to have your own name, then." The old devure's red eyes brightened.
"Really? Is that so? Ok, I also have something in mind." The young one started to get exited with a big smile on his face.
"Well, let's hear it then." The old devure chuckled a little.
"Ok, so, what if I take the last part of your name and make it a part of my name? Then my name would be…" Before he could finish his sentence, a loud bang can be heard in the distant east, so deafening as to drown away all the screams echoed throughout the town.
He failed to react as the old devure had already running toward the western gate, rushing through the field with speed he had never seen before. It broke his heart to be left all alone in the field, but he also knew that it was best to stay.
"NOSRA!!" "My name will be Nosra!" He screamed as his silhouette was shrinking into sunset in the east. Now all he can do was to sit and wait, observing his surrounding as to not let any monster sneaked up on him.
---
"I think I could see his smile all the way from here."
