Chapter 219: Climbing the Boats
Jiang Hao waited in line patiently, and after some time, he finally got his turn and bought two tickets for them.
"You can climb any boats you want. We will leave in an hour."
Jiang Hao nodded and went back. Previously, he had decided to visit the Central Region last, but since it was the closest to the Eastern Region, and he had seen enough to understand human nature, he didn't really need to go to the other regions. Not to mention, the Central Region consisted of half of the world's population.
When he came back, he saw that Senior Yao was looking towards the Central Region with her eyes shining. He had asked about it previously.
It was a vision that allowed her to see impossibly long distances using spatial laws—basically, seeing anything in the whole world if she wanted to.
He stood to the side and waited for her to tell him herself. If it was important, she would always tell him to make the decision, as till now she had followed quietly without saying anything about why and where he was going.
After three breaths, Yao Ying stopped looking towards the Central Region and turned to face Jiang Hao.
"Two cultivators have descended from the upper world."
Jiang Hao was surprised and stunned as well. Was it because of them? Or could it be someone like Senior Yao who had just come to this world for some specific purpose?
The fact that it was two cultivators who had come—it was a given that they might belong to the Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary and Azure Sky Sect, so it seemed like he and his senior sister were their real motive.
Well, it didn't matter much. They wouldn't be able to use strength above the threshold of this world. The only thing that might be problematic was their will, as he didn't know if there was a threshold for that or not, since Senior Yin hadn't told him about it.
"They have sacrificed their cultivation to descend. But never forget that even if their cultivation has become equal to the peak of this world, and their blood qi has similarly dropped, their bodies are something that have already been elevated to immortality due to ascension… so they will be far more powerful and resilient than those who haven't ascended."
Jiang Hao nodded. He could understand the implications.
There was one thing he could glean from this—it was that these two sects had finally decided to be as prepared as they could. After failing multiple times, they didn't want to do anything half-heartedly.
There was one thing he couldn't figure out: the fact that Heaven-grade physiques were heavily sought-after treasures even in the upper worlds, not to mention the upper worlds that were near the lower realm boundary.
So, how come these two ancestors from those two sects took so much time descending to this world? The only possibility he could think of was that these two sects hadn't mentioned anything about their physiques to them before.
Now that they were on edge, without any success, they must have done so—and as a result, these ancestors came down. Surely, they wouldn't let go of the chance to possess a Heavenly Physique for themselves.
He wondered how aggressive these two sects would become from now on… well, it didn't really matter as long as his village stayed hidden.
There was one more thing he wanted to know—if people from the lower world could be brought to the upper world by any means other than ascending.
There must be one, since Senior Yao had mentioned extending the lifespan of his mother.
"Senior, is there a way to bring lower world people to the upper world without Ascendance?"
Yao Ying nodded.
"There is, but it isn't advised. The tribulations you go through in the lower world to break through are different from the upper world. It's a matter of adaptability.
Cultivators born in the upper world are stronger and more adaptable to Immortal qi. It is another form of qi, far heavier than normal spirit qi.
And because of this, the tribulations for both upper and lower world cultivators at the Tribulation Ascendance Realm are a bit different.
In the lower world, each tribulation infuses your body with Immortal qi while refining your body for adaptability. And since it is done by the heavens, it's a far safer refinement—as long as you can endure the pain.
As for the upper world, there is no such thing as refining your body for adaptability, so they just cross normal tribulations. And if a lower world cultivator goes through another method and crosses his tribulation in the upper realm, then he wouldn't get those benefits and would have to find an alternative for it.
And if you are not adaptable to Immortal qi, then you can't absorb it into your body, and hence, even if you comprehend your law, the heavens won't give you the required qi for cultivation."
Jiang Hao nodded. So, the method does exist, but if you use it, then you won't be able to cultivate. No one would want that to happen.
"You don't have to worry, though. Heavenly and Celestial Physiques are the most adaptable in the whole universe. If you went to the upper world, then it wouldn't even take a month for you to get adaptable to Immortal qi—not to mention you, who might get it in a day or so."
He understood his physique's capabilities quite well. It really was insanely adaptable.
An hour passed quietly after that. Finally, the gates to board the boats were opened, and they moved to the one that was nearest to them, the one on the left.
After coming up, they found a corner and stood there.
The whole deck was quite big. Even with a lot of cultivators, it was still quite empty. Looks like it was done to give personal space to everyone. In the end, everyone here was a cultivator, and enough space was required for meditation.
Even on the edges, a well-enough distance of five feet was maintained among each group.
Everyone had to stay in the open for a week. For a cultivator, it wasn't a problem. And when there were so many cultivators concentrated in such a small space, how could problems not arise?
The best area on the whole boat was the edges, where you could have a view of the sea. So once they were filled, how could those who came up later be satisfied?
They would look for weaker cultivators and force them to give up their spots—and it was happening quite openly. Looks like it wasn't something those who owned the boats cared about. In the end, which place you got depended on your strength, it seems.
