Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 122: Showing a bit of power

The young demon was caught off guard by the fact that I made the first move, but he didn't hesitate as he suddenly swung that scythe at me.

With my abilities, it was as if the scythe was moving in slow motion.

It didn't take any effort for me to get out of the way, but it certainly surprised the other demons since they didn't think that highly of me.

Though the scythe slash missed, the young demon didn't panic as he continued into the scythe slash. He allowed the momentum of the scythe to carry him forward and he spun with it as he slashed out again.

It seemed like this was the reason why he chose to use this scythe in the first place.

With the momentum, he was actually moving faster than before as he let the scythe just carry him forward.

But even if he was moving faster, it was still like he was moving in slow motion for me.

With a single step, I moved out of the way of his attack.

The young demon went right past me and slashed the ground with his scythe.

Not only was the scythe sharp, there was quite a bit of power behind it as it left a deep gash in the ground.

But no matter how the young demon tried to attack me, there wasn't a single swing that landed on me. No matter how fast he swung his scythe, I was always just a bit faster than him and dodged out of the way.

"Huff, huff, how is this possible?" There was a look of utter disbelief that was on the face of the young demon when he landed. It was clear that he didn't understand how I was able to dodge all of his attacks.

It wasn't just the young demon that looked like this, the other demons that were watching all had the same look of disbelief on their faces.

That was except for those from the stronger demon tribes.

For the weaker demons, this was a fight that seemed like it was above their level.

This was certainly not something that they had been expecting to see from me.

I didn't say anything as I grabbed the scythe of the young demon that was in the ground and lifted him up by it. Though I had grabbed it with more force than he could resist, it didn't seem like he was planning on letting go even if it meant tearing his arms off.

It seemed that he was quite attached to this scythe that he used.

So in the end, I just used my other hand to grab the scythe and bent it

The young demon's face fell the moment that he saw this.

It was almost as if someone had killed his parents in front of him with the way that he looked at this scythe after I bent it.

I didn't understand why he acted this way, but I just tossed him into the wall after bending the scythe.

Even though there was the pain that came from being slammed into the wall like this, it didn't seem like the young demon cared as he was still looking at the scythe as if it was the only thing in the world.

It was as if there was nothing more important to him than the scythe.

With a sigh, I walked forward and grabbed the scythe before bending it back to normal.

Then while holding the scythe in my hand, I slammed the young demon against the wall once more before he started spitting out blood. However, it seemed like his expression was much better when he saw that the scythe wasn't bent anymore.

I really had no idea what this young demon was thinking.

"I have the right to decide if he dies or not, but I don't want to dirty my hands today. Instead, I will take him as my slave." I said to everyone once the young demon was on the ground like this.

There was no one that said anything against this.

After all, this was part of the rules of this ceremonial duel.

The winner was the one that decided everything and they could do whatever they wanted with the loser.

So it wasn't as if there was anyone that would stand up for this young man.

Instead of worrying about him, it was clear that they were paying more attention to me.

I had shown them that I was completely different from what they had expected, I possessed far more strength than they thought I did. That meant that all of the demons had no choice but to treat me differently from before.

Still, there were those that didn't believe that this was the truth.

There were those that believed that I had used some kind of trick to fool everyone.

That was why there were others that challenged me as well.

Since there was someone that had already challenged me, it meant that the path was opened for the rest of them to issue a challenge as well.

But just because they thought that I was tricking them, it didn't mean that this was actually the case. Even though they wanted to show that I was nothing more than someone that was playing tricks, they were soon hit with the hard reality that I was more than that.

In the end, they all ended up in the same situation as the young demon from before.

In the end, all of them ended up becoming my slaves after being defeated by me.

Once that happened, there was no one else that bothered challenging me to a duel.

Though I could see that the stronger demon tribes were looking at me differently than before.

It was clear that I had changed their impression of me with what I had done.

But it didn't seem like they saw me as a threat yet.

"I'll show just a bit of power that you're interested in me, but not enough that you would do anything yet."

After all, I wasn't strong enough to face all of them yet.
