Chapter 121: Demon ceremony
"Damn, that really was a big boost." I couldn't help thinking to myself when I saw my stats increase.
However, it wasn't just my stats alone that had increased because of the Spirit Elixir.
Once the Spirit Elixir was absorbed, all six of us received a boost to our stats.
It seemed that the effects of the Spirit Elixir was something that all of us received because of our skill. It seemed that we had multiplied the effects of the Spirit Elixir by six all because of this.
"It seems like a waste since we still have another avatar slot."
If we had created another avatar first before using this Spirit Elixir, then it would have received the same effect as the rest of us.
With the stats that had been increased for each avatar, it really was a waste not to have done that beforehand.
Still, it was too late to regret this and it wasn't as if we were some kind of min max gamer.
In the first place, we were already far stronger than normal people at the same level.
That came into play now that I had been pulled to this ceremony.
The demons that were under me had brought me to this ceremony that they were holding, but I knew what this really was.
Demons were a brutal race to begin with, so a ceremony for them was naturally something that involved violence. This ceremony that they were currently holding was one where demons challenged each other to fights to establish their position in the demon race.
In short, it was ceremonial duels that were happening.
But for them to call me here, I already had an idea of what they wanted from me.
After all, I could see the way that certain demons in the crowd were looking at me.
From those gazes, it was quite clear what these demons were thinking.
But it wasn't as if I would be that easy to take care of.
Most of the demons that were looking at me like this were demons of lower positions. These were demons from weaker tribes that were thinking about a way to raise their own position among the demon race.
That was why they were targeting me, the demon king.
The news that I was nothing more than a king that had been placed on the throne as an exhibit had already been spread. Almost everyone in the demon race knew that I was a demon king that didn't have any power.
Only the stronger tribes didn't plan on doing anything to me since I was the one that was keeping the peace between them.
They still weren't ready to fight for the position of demon king yet, so I was placed on the throne as a sort of stopgap. None of them had any ideas of taking me down since it wouldn't be beneficial for them.
The only ones that were thinking about taking me down were those weaker tribes that wanted to use this as a chance.
After several fights between the stronger tribes, almost as if it was some kind of demonstration of their power, that was when the weaker tribes made their move.
None of them dared to challenge me directly, but the way that they maneuvered around me showed that they were thinking it.
It was just that no one wanted to take the first move since they didn't know what the stronger tribes were thinking.
In the end, there was someone that lost patience.
"The demon king is supposed to be an example for the entire demon race, so how could he sit out during this event?"
Once this was said, everyone turned to look at the young demon who said this.
This was a demon that didn't have anything special about him other than his blue skin and red eyes.
Though he looked like a demon, there really wasn't anything special about him.
In fact, even his magic power was much weaker than what a normal demon would possess.
It was clear that this young demon was nothing more than a low grade demon.
But what he was doing now was challenging the prestige of the demon king, provoking the demon king into a duel with him. After all, no one could really speak for the demon king when his prestige was challenged like this.
"I wish to challenge the demon king and experience the great power that he possesses."
The young demon narrowed his eyes to look at me.
Even though he didn't possess power, he did have the will to fight.
If only having the will to fight was enough to actually win.
"Alright, I accept."
I said before standing up and jumping into the arena.
The moment that I did this, everyone looked at me with surprised looks.
It was clear that they couldn't believe that I would accept the duel so easily.
Even the young demon who challenged me didn't seem like he was able to believe it that easily.
But I didn't care as I stood in the center of the arena and waited for him to come down.
After a long moment of silence, the young demon came into the arena.
It wasn't that he was afraid, it was just that he didn't understand why I would agree to duel him.
After all, I wasn't that strong in his eyes.
He didn't believe that I would be able to win if I were to actually fight him.
Once we were in the arena, there was no turning back.
The only thing left to do was actually fight.
The young demon didn't hesitate to pull out his weapon.
This young demon actually had quite the strange weapon, he used a scythe that was bigger than he was. It really didn't seem like a weapon that suited him with how it seemed like he was just dragging it around.
But this was the weapon that he insisted on using.
"Are you ready?" The leaders of the large tribes asked this question.
"Yes." I said before suddenly stepping forward towards the young demon.
