Chapter 128: Vampires (5)
Malphis didn't hesitate at all to send the blood lances at the scythe when he saw it approaching.
The problem was that these blood lances just didn't have any power in them.
There was a reason why they were breaking down, it was a sign that he wasn't able to condense his power in these blood lances. That was why there were drops of blood that were falling from these blood lances in the first place.
But that didn't matter right now.
The only thing that mattered was trying to stop the scythe that was coming at him.
So that was why Malphis flew back while he avoided the scythe.
He naturally wouldn't put himself in danger just because he wanted to obtain glory.
When his life was in danger, Malphis would be the first one to escape.
Instead of suppressing that anger that he felt at this, he shouted at the normal vampires, "What are you idiots doing? Attack while I'm distracting the enemy!"
However, the vampires that were in the smoke were facing their own difficulties.
If Malphis was facing difficulties in controlling his blood, it was only natural that they would be facing the same difficulties. No, it was actually worse for them since Malphis was a pureblood that had more resistance to this power that was weakening him.
For them, it was as if they completely lost their power to bend blood to their will with the power restraining them. When they tried to gather the blood like they were used to, they found that they weren't even able to create a single ball of blood.
As such, there wasn't anything that the vampires could do to help Malphis.
Still, they were being yelled at by him and they knew that if anything happened to Malphis, it would be their lives on the line.
That was why it didn't matter if it was dangerous or not.
At this point, they started throwing themselves at the one holding the scythe.
Or that would have been the case if not for the people that came out of the blood factory.
They had been completely distracted by the owner of the scythe and the smoke around them that they didn't notice that there were people coming out of the blood factory. These weren't their allies, but rather their enemies.
"Ah!" After one vampire cried out in pain, the others all started to pay attention to the unknown people that were around them.
"Shit!" That was all that they could say when they found that they were surrounded.
When Malphis saw this, he couldn't help cursing under his breath as well before saying, "Just what is happening? How could they be so coordinated?"
That was what Malphis thought since these people had surrounded them while working with the owner of the scythe.
But what he never would have known was that the people on the ground were actually cursing out the owner of the scythe.
"What is that idiot doing barging in on his own? Now we have to go out of our way to save him instead of luring the enemies into our traps."
If Malphis and the vampires had burst into the factory like they wanted, then they would have been able to have them fall into the trap that they had set up for them. But because the one with the scythe had interfered, then there really was nothing they could do since it was clear that Malphis wouldn't be entering the factory.
That was why they had to come out to take care of them.
Since his subordinates were being taken down, Malphis didn't want to remain here any longer.
After all, there was something strange here that was making him unable to use his full power. If he were to stay here, it would just mean being restricted even more by whatever it was that was keeping him from using his power.
If he stayed here, there was no telling what would happen to him.
As such, he definitely wasn't going to stay here and let himself be in danger.
But before Malphis could actually escape, there was a ball of blood that suddenly appeared behind him.
Malphis couldn't help turning in the direction of that ball of blood right away and narrowing his eyes to look at it. That was because he could tell that there was something strange about this ball of blood.
The sensation that came from this ball of blood, it even felt like he was being suppressed by it even though he was a pureblooded vampire.
"Is there an elder that followed me here?"
As soon as this thought passed through his mind, Malphis started flying towards that ball of blood that appeared behind him.
This kind of thought wasn't wrong since it was normally only the vampires that would be able to make use of blood like this.
However, this thought that passed through his mind this time was wrong.
That was because this wasn't a ball of blood that had been gathered by some elder of the vampire tribe.
The moment that Malphis appeared, the ball of blood suddenly opened wide and spread out around him. The moment that Malphis saw the ball of blood doing this, he knew that this ball of blood wasn't something that was created by an ally.
After all, the ball of blood was forming a net that was trying to trap him.
Malphis immediately raised his hand in an attempt to seize control of this ball of blood, or at the very least, he was trying to make it so that this ball of blood wouldn't come at him as quickly.
It was just that he wasn't able to stop this ball of blood in the end.
He couldn't even influence it in the slightest.
"Just what is this thing?" That was the last thing that Malphis could do before he was completely wrapped up in that ball of blood and his world fell into darkness.
