Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 127: Vampires (4)

"What in the…" Malphis was completely caught off guard by the scythe's blade that suddenly appeared in front of him, but that didn't mean that he was helpless.

There was a reason why he was a pureblooded vampire.

He was someone that was far stronger than the normal vampire, so he was able to react in the end even though he had been caught off guard.

With a blood sword that he condensed in his hand, he swung out at the scythe that was coming at him.

Since Malphis had swung late, there wasn't as much power in that blood sword swing. Even so, the blood sword and scythe seemed to freeze in the air for a bit before both of them were pushed back.

Malphis spun once in the air before stabilizing himself, but he was shocked to find that the scythe was coming right back at him.

The scythe, or rather the owner of the scythe should have been sent spinning just like him. However, it didn't seem like that bothered the owner of the scythe at all as the scythe was falling down on him once more.

Malphis was confused why the scythe was able to recover this quickly, but he didn't have the time to think about it as the blade of the scythe was coming at him. The only thing that he could do was gather balls of blood around him that soon changed into lances of blood.

These lances shot out at the scythe that was almost right in front of his face.

These lances were different from the blood sword that had been quickly condensed, they contained the actual power that Malphis possessed as a pureblood vampire. As such, the scythe was pushed back by these blood lances and gave Malphis time to breathe.

Or at least that was what he thought until he saw something strange happening with the scythe.

"Why is it spinning like that? How could it possibly be coming back already?"

Malphis was completely shocked by the scythe coming at him once more.

It was just too bad that there was smoke from the explosion that he caused that he couldn't see the owner of the scythe, but he knew that the owner of the scythe wasn't normal if they could do something like this.

That was why Malphis no longer looked down on the owner of the scythe and gathered even more blood lances in the air that he shot at the scythe.

This time, he didn't stop at shooting the first batch.

This time, he fired a second, third, fourth…he continued firing the blood lances at whoever was holding the scythe. It seemed like he didn't plan to stop until the owner of the scythe was dead.

But each time that the blood lances were fired out, the scythe actually blocked them all.

Each time…it seemed that the scythe was becoming stronger and stronger as it swung back at him.

Malphis had no idea why this was happening, but he could tell that it was only a matter of time before his blood lances were overpowered.

While it hurt his pride to do this, he had no choice but to fall back in the end.

"Who are you?" As he flew backwards, Malphis asked this question.

The owner of the scythe didn't say anything.

Instead, the scythe stopped chasing after Malphis and instead swung down at the vampires that had just arrived.

They had charged through the smoke, so they didn't really know what was going on.

When they tried to fight back against this scythe, they found that they weren't able to push it back at all with their attacks.

This was a scythe that had been able to cut through Malphis' blood lances, so there was no doubt that this wasn't a normal scythe. As such, all of the vampires that had been standing in the front row were cut in half when this scythe fell down.

There were looks of shock that were on their faces as they were cut down. At the same time, it was clear that they weren't convinced by the fact that they died like this.

How could they accept dying like this?

"You dare to go against our vampire race?" Malphis was annoyed when he saw his subordinates being cut down like this.

But at the same time, he couldn't back down since he was in front of his subordinates now. If they saw him backing down like this, then it would be bad for his reputation in the future.

So he decided not to play with the owner of the scythe anymore.

"Die!" After he said this, he pulled out a cross that was used to create even more blood lances. But this time, the aura that came from the blood lances was much stronger than the blood lances from before.

This time, the scythe didn't take this attack head on and instead fell back into the smoke to avoid the blood lances.

Malphis revealed a satisfied look when he saw this since he had suffered previously in front of this scythe. At the same time, the anger that had been inside of him slowly faded seeing that the scythe was retreating.

"You want to run? It's not that easy!" Malphis said as he flew forward while swinging the cross in his hand.

When that cross was swung, there were more blood lances that were suddenly created.

It seemed that he wanted to completely pepper the area that the scythe had hidden itself in. He wanted to cover that whole area in his blood lances so the owner of the scythe couldn't run away.

But before he could release his blood lance, he couldn't help knitting his brows.

That was because Malphis could feel his connection with his blood weapons waning.

This was demonstrated by the fact that parts of the blood lances were falling apart. It was like blood was dripping down from those condensed blood lances.

"What is happening?"

Those words didn't matter as he saw the scythe coming at him once more.
