Hero or Villain, Both

Once the last item was brought up, there was silence that filled the auction hall.

One could tell that there were many people that were waiting with bated breath as they were curious what the last item was.

Since it was the last item, they knew that it would be a special item as well.

It was to be expected that the last item would be the closer and the item that was the most valuable.

So that was why everyone was already waiting to bid on this last item.

In fact, there were many people that had come just for this final item.

The auction house had already given many teasers about this, so they had an idea of what this final item was before it was even brought out.

But I wasn't interested in any of this.

Once the final item came onto the stage, there was a sudden explosion that came from the side of the hall.

Though this explosion came from one side, there were people that poured out from all different directions. Though they came from different directions, all of them were aiming for one single thing.

They were aiming for the item that was being brought onto stage.

Since this was an underground auction, naturally there were things like this where people would try to steal the items in the auction. At the same time, since it was an underground auction, there would be guards that were prepared.

After the explosion and the people charged forward, there were guards that suddenly appeared on stage.

It was clear that the underground auction cared very much about their own safety with how they hired these guards.

While this was all happening, we just watched this scene with amused smiles on our faces.

After all, it wasn't our group that was attacking them.

This was a group of mercenaries that we had intel on that would be attacking this underground auction. That was why we chose to come here today since it would be easier to use them as a distraction.

After watching them fight for a while, the driver said, "Young master, they're ready for you."

I gave a simple nod before turning to leave the room, but I did walk slowly so the driver was able to get out of the room before me.

We just casually walked down the hall as if we weren't bothered by the sounds of fighting that came from the main auction hall. Instead, we continued down the path that the driver seemed to know quite well.

Eventually, we reached a place in the auction hall that was different from the rest of the auction hall.

This place wasn't as luxuriously decorated as the rest of the auction hall, it was as if this place was designed with function in mind.

When we arrived in this place, someone stepped forward to meet us.

We weren't surprised to see them since this was someone that we had posted here. This was one of the members of the special task force that I had sent out.

They didn't say anything either as they led us in a certain direction.

We didn't meet a single person, but I wasn't surprised by that.

Other than the distraction that was caused by the mercenaries, the rest were taken care of by the special task force.

After leading us for a bit, we finally arrived at our destination which was a pair of double doors. These double doors looked different from everything else that we had encountered before.

These double doors were actually quite luxurious in their own rights.

It was clear that whoever this office belonged to cared very much about this place.

Whether it was their own pride or if they thought that it was worth it to have this kind of design, it didn't matter to me.

The only thing that mattered was how I would take care of the ones that were inside of the room.

"Is everyone in position?" I asked the one that led us here.

They turned around and gave a nod before moving forward to stand in front of the doors. However, they turned around and raised one hand as if they were about to open the door for me.

Seeing this, I gave them a nod before walking forward with the driver.

When the door opened, we heard the sounds coming from inside.

"How did they manage to sneak all these people in? I thought that we were already watching them?"

It was obvious that the people that were inside were worried about the mercenaries attacking the underground auction. But they suddenly stopped talking all of a sudden.

"There's someone here."

It was because one person drew attention to us.

But we didn't stop walking.

We continued into the room until we were standing in front of a desk that had several people around it.

The one that was sitting at the desk was the one that was in charge here and that person had narrowed their eyes to look at us.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

"I'm here for one reason and one reason only." I said with a smile on my face.

They looked at me with even more hostility after I said this, but I didn't care as I calmly looked at them.

Eventually, I continued by saying, "It's very simple, I want you to hand over this underground auction to me."

There was no answer that followed as they all looked at me as if they thought I was crazy.

But this time, I had a serious look in my eyes after I said this.

In the end, the person sitting at the desk just waved his hand at us without saying anything.

There was someone that suddenly appeared behind us after he gave this signal.

This person had a dagger in hand and it was clear that they were going to finish us off.

Or they would have if they didn't have to dodge a dagger that had been aimed at their face.
