Chapter 149: Taking over the business
With another tremble, the owner of the auction house fell out of the chair that he had been sitting in.
Since Fang had betrayed him, the only ones that he could turn to were the others that were fighting against my team.
But in the end, they weren't able to do anything to the special task force that I had prepared.
The special task force had been trained by Kasim and his son Daluka, so they were already stronger than normal assassins. They weren't weak enough to lose against these people that worked for this underground auction.
Once all of his guards were down, the owner of the auction house couldn't help saying, "What is it that you want?"
When he was in his most dangerous position, he actually calmed himself down and looked right at me to ask this.
It seemed that there was some ability that he possessed.
Though it would be strange if he wasn't at least capable of this since he wouldn't have been able to run this underground auction. If he wasn't this capable, he would have been killed and his territory would have been taken from him.
Since he was this capable, it meant that he was useful.
"It's very simple. I want this auction house." I said with a casual smile.
When he heard this, the owner of the auction house looked at me as if he thought I was crazy. But that look soon disappeared as he looked around the room and the situation that he was in sunk in.
After a moment of silence, the owner of the auction house asked, "Are you serious? You should have already figured out who is behind this auction house. I'm nothing more than a front man."
"And you can continue being a front man, all you have to do is work for me from now on." I replied without any hesitation.
The owner of the auction house really didn't know what to say.
After all, he could tell that I would just finish him off if I didn't get an answer that I was satisfied with. But the answer that I would have been satisfied with would be the wrong answer for him.
Seeing that he was struggling, I said, "It isn't as if I don't have people behind me either. As long as they make their move, it's not as if the people behind you aren't willing to back down."
The look on the face of the auction house owner showed that he didn't believe me when I said this, but I didn't care.
The only part of the plan that he had a say in was whether to hand over the auction house or not. Even if he didn't want to hand it over, he wouldn't have a choice since it would mean that I would just remove him.
The only thing that he could decide was whether he would live or not.
Seeing the way that I looked at him, the owner of the auction house finally said with a sigh, "Alright, I'll work for you."
But I could tell that he was only saying this for the sake of getting out of here alive.
There really wasn't a single trace of sincerity in his eyes when he said this.
It didn't matter since I just pulled something out and placed it on the table in front of him.
"Sign it."
The owner of the auction house looked at me with a surprised look, but this time my expression and voice turned cold as I tapped on the contract while saying, "Sign it or die."
His face turned very ugly when he heard this and he didn't make a move.
It was clear that he didn't want to sign this contract that I had placed on the table in front of him, but he really didn't have a choice.
So the only thing that he could do was…
"Swish."
With a flick of his clothes, he suddenly stabbed out at me with a dagger that he had kept hidden.
It wasn't that he was planning on hurting me, rather it was that he was trying to use this dagger to take me hostage to find a way out of this. He thought that I was the weakest one here, which meant that it would be easy to take me hostage.
When the members of the special task force saw this, none of them made a move to help me.
That was because before the dagger could even approach me, there was a barrier that appeared in front of me. The moment that the dagger made contact with the barrier, it immediately stopped moving.
No matter how that person tried pushing the dagger forward, it just wasn't able to move a single inch.
It was clear that he wouldn't be able to do anything with this dagger.
When the owner of the auction house saw this, he couldn't help trembling in fear.
It was at that moment that he realized that he had messed up.
"I didn't mean it. I just…" His voice trailed off when he looked into my eyes.
That was because there was a special glow that had appeared in my eyes.
Once I looked at him, he was completely dominated by the look that was in them now.
This was the other special power that I had received.
It was the power of charm…
I didn't think that this kind of power was appropriate, but it was what they had given me. So the only thing that I could do now was make the most of it.
After he had been charmed by me, there was nothing that he could do to resist.
It was as if he was a puppet as he picked up the pen and signed the contract.
Once he signed this contract, there was no going back on it since it was a special contract.
This was a magic contract that had been written by me with the powers that I had gained from the other avatars.
As long as he broke this contract, his heart would instantly burst and he would die.
So there was no way that he would betray us once he signed it.
