Chapter 170: Rescue operation (3)
"I was wrong. You were right to search this place first or else we wouldn't have found all of this." Elder Arun admitted his mistakes without any hesitation.
But I just simply said, "I had a bad feeling and followed it. I didn't think that we would find this much either. It seems that we have both been looking down on this person."
Elder Arun gave a nod of agreement, but then he patted me on the shoulder and said, "It doesn't matter now. We'll take him down and all those that were involved with this. You've done more than enough."
I gave a nod in response without saying anything.
Elder Arun didn't mind that I didn't say anything as he was focused on something else.
He was focused on preparing to take down the people that were still in the manor.
The punisher squad was still standing by, but he had to give the order before they acted.
But before giving this order, there were a few more orders that he wanted to give.
With this new information, he wanted to make them suffer a bit more.
Even if it meant showing a little less discretion than he had promised.
However, these people deserved it, so he did this without any hesitation.
After he was done giving the order, he asked, "Do you want to come with me to see how we punish this evildoer?"
"No, I think that I've seen enough. I'll head back to where the humans are if you don't mind. I think the girls wouldn't want to see this either."
Elder Arun gave a nod in response before calling for a member of the punisher squad to escort us out.
The way that this happened was as if we were children being escorted out by an adult, but I didn't put up a fuss as I let this happen. After all, I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible to take care of some matters.
Once we were back, I didn't hesitate to say, "I need to relieve myself, I'll be back soon."
No one stopped me as I walked into the woods on the side.
I could even hear the member of the punisher squad saying, "It seems like his stomach couldn't handle it."
The way that he said this really was like he was an adult talking about a child.
I just chose to ignore it as I headed off into the forest.
There was one other person that left the group as well, but he had even less of a presence than I did.
The two of us quickly made our way through the forest until we found a cave that was hidden here.
"Is this the place?" Yulian asked as he looked at the cave in front of us.
I didn't say anything at first, but eventually I gave a nod to show that this was the place.
I could see that there was a faint trace of light that was coming from inside the cave. It was the faint kind of light that couldn't be seen unless one's eyes were really sharp.
Though it did help that it was night, so it was dark enough for us to see this light.
But this was a light that was dim enough that one wouldn't notice it unless they were looking carefully to find it.
Once we saw the light, we knew that this was the place that we were looking for.
"Do you want to do it?" Yulian asked me after we were certain that it was the right place.
"Well, it doesn't matter since no one will know that we're here, right?" I said at first, but then I added, "You just want to act like the assassin hidden in the shadows, don't you?"
Yulian looked at me as if he was offended that I would say something like that, but I knew that this was just his acting.
It really was hard to hide these things when our minds were connected.
So in the end, he said with a sigh, "You're an elf, so it would make more sense for you to appear here. It will make them let their guards down more if they see you rather than them seeing me."
I didn't say anything in response in the end since he was technically correct.
They would know all of the humans that were here, so they would immediately be on guard if they saw a human that they didn't recognize. An elf could be disguised as one of the slaves that had escaped from the manor.
"Fine, but you owe me one." I said before taking the lead.
Once I approached the cave, I could already hear the sounds that were coming from inside.
It seemed like the people that were in the cave were enjoying themselves with the sounds that were coming from inside. It seemed like they were having some kind of banquet.
That was only normal since they didn't think that there would be anyone that had found their location.
In the first place, this was a hidden base that barely anyone knew about.
This was the location of the boss behind the baron, the one that gave him the confidence to take those elven slaves.
As such, there was a powerful person that was hiding in this place.
After reaching the cave, the first thing that I did was use the dark spirit to sneak into the room.
I had the same level spirit as Elder Arun, though I couldn't use it to the same level as him. He was someone that had been with that darkness spirit for a long time, so he was much more used to using its power unlike me.
But still, this was more than enough for me to sneak into the cave.
These people were nothing more than simple thugs that had been hired by the boss, which was why they were allowed to party like this.
They weren't the target that I was looking for.
