Highschool DxD: Spin to Win

Chapter 12: Ch 12: Church Invasion

The abandoned church stood before me, its silhouette towered against the moonlit sky. . My breath fogged in the air as I exhaled, my enhanced senses picking up the faintest sounds of movement inside and there it was, Raynare and her group.

This seems like a reckless move from my end but I can't live in constant fear of getting stabbed by a light spear. It's like they say, strike before they strike if you have the chance. I don't know if I would make it alive out of there. In my mind, I feel strength and confidence to fight with them and it's all thanks to the rewards from system.

A new quest had already been given to me while I was at home.

Quest: Eliminate fallen angels

Reward: 4 spins

---------------------------------------------

A task that was far from being an easy one. The previous two kills were quite easy for me because my opponents underestimated me but this time there are too many of them and they would fight me serious after my first attack. These weren't just any enemies—they were threats to someone I had sworn to protect.

Asia.

Someone who didn't deserve the hell they were about to put her through. It's been few hours since I met her but I have this deep desire in me to protect someone like her, an innocent one, who can't even think of hurting the other person. I just can't look the other way while I have the power and knowledge to help her.

I flexed my fingers, feeling the familiar chill of my Teigu coursing through me. The compress quirk and enhanced senses were an icing to the cake.

They were arrogant, careless. They don't know I am coming. Good. Let them underestimate me. It would be their last mistake before I put them to sleep forever. It will also put me to the position where I can grow and learn to face my fear of fighting opponents who will not hesitate to kill me. I have to turn my heart cold.

I stepped forward, my shoes crunching on the gravel. The church doors loomed ahead, cracked and splintered. I didn't bother with doing sneak attack, that's not how I work. A flick of my wrist sent a shard of big ice slamming into the doors, shattering them inward. The sound echoed like a gunshot in the silent night.

"It's time for them to meet God" I said, stepping inside.

The interior was as decayed as the outside, pews overturned, the altar cracked and stained. The air was thick with the odd stench and something metallic—blood. My eyes adjusted instantly, picking out the figures standing in the shadows. Four of them. Raynare, and the other three fallen angels. And behind them, a group of priests, their eyes hollow, their souls already sold to these vultures.

Raynare stepped forward, her wings unfurling, black as the void. Her lips curled into a sneer, "Who dares to interrupt us? Do you know who we are?"

I didn't answer immediately. My eyes swept over them, calculating, assessing. Raynare was the leader, the most dangerous. The old man seemed like brute, all muscle and no finesse. Good curve lady and Little one was just staring at me with light spears, ready to throw at me any moment. The priests were cannon fodder so it's easy to deal with them.

"I don't care who you are but" I said finally, my voice calm "You've been targeting someone in my group so I am here to put an end to your lives"

Raynare laughed, a sound like witch crackling "Your group? A group of pathetic humans?" Others joined with her laugh while I tried hard to not rush and bitch slap her "You think you can stop us?"

I dodged her bait and replied by ice flaring into my arms, "You will know in a minute"

Her laughter died eventually and was now replaced by a glare "Kill him"

The priests moved first, rushing at me with weapons drawn. Good, they are coming forward to be eliminate first. I raised my arm, and the air around me dropped to freezing cold. Ice erupted from the ground, spearing upward in multiple spikes. The priests didn't even have time to scream before they were impaled, their bodies freezing solid mid-motion.

The hat guy roared, charging at me with a light spear. I sidestepped, with a fluid movement I slammed a hand into his chest with blade of ice piercing right through his heart. His eyes widened, then went blank.

One down.

The curvy one was next, her movements a blur as she darted around me with spear. I tracked her with my enhanced senses, my body moving almost instinctively and dodging every single strike from her. She lunged at me last, and I caught her wrist, twisting until I heard the snap of bone. She screamed in pain, but I silenced her with a blast of icy wind that froze her in place. A quick strike of ice spear shattered her into pieces.

Two down.

The little one hesitated, her confidence wavering. "W-who are you?" she stammered, backing away. Now you taking me serious huh? But that won't make a difference in my actions, I would get rid of you.

"You don't deserve to know it," I replied, my voice devoid of emotion. I didn't give her a chance to run. A wave of my hand sent a barrage of ice shards hurtling toward her as she tried to fly away, but they were too fast, too precise and pierced her wings, pinning her to the wall. She struggled, but I was already in front of her, my hand closing around her throat.

"P-please," she choked out, her eyes wide with fear.

"Ok" With a twist of my hand, I snapped her neck. Her body went limp, and I let her drop.

Three down.

Raynare was the last. She had watched the fight unfold, her expression shifting from arrogance to rage to something resembling fear "You… you're not human," she seethed, her wings flaring.

"No," I agreed with a grin "I'm worse."

She screamed, launching herself at me with a speed that would have been impressive if I hadn't been ready. I met her head-on, our powers colliding in a burst of ice and light. She was strong, I'd give her that, but she was also reckless. Her attacks were wild, fueled by anger. I was calm, precise. Every move I made was calculated, every strike was deliberate while she was just like a truck colliding with no direction.

She summoned a spear of light, thrusting it at me. I dodged it with an ease and with an ice shield I deflected her next attack. I countered the next attacks of her with a blast of freezing wind, forcing her back. She stumbled, and I took the advantage, my ice forming a cage around her. I stared at her like Kendrick was staring at the owl in cage.

"You think you can get away with all this?" she snarled, struggling against the bars.

"Yes" I replied. I raised a hand, and the cage tightened with each second, the ice creeping inward. She screamed, her wings beating against the bars, but it was no use. The ice closed in, crushing her, freezing her. Her screams died as the ice encased her completely, leaving her a frozen statue and then

*BOOM*

It exploded into multiple shards, scattering across the icey floor.

I stood there for a moment, breathing heavily, the adrenaline slowly fading. The church was silent now, the only sound was the crackling of ice as it spreaded across the walls. I looked down at the fallen angels, their bodies as frozen pieces. They had been dangerous, but they had underestimated me.

The notification appeared in my vision, glowing softly.

Before I could tap into the rewards, a red magic circle appeared in front of me with familiar figures emerging out of it. Can't catch a break, can I? And why is she coming here after I am done with the fight? The night wasn't over but I was prepared for whatever challenges waited for me ahead.
