Chapter 10: CHAPTER 9
The Bloodline They Tried to Erase
The cold night air presses against my skin, but it does nothing to smother the fire raging inside me.
The visions still burn behind my eyes—flashes of a temple lost to time, a crest I don't recognize but somehow know, and a woman whose silver eyes haunt me.
"Your blood remembers."
What does that even mean?
Kieran's hand is still gripping my arm, steadying me as I fight against the disorientation clawing at my mind.
His touch is warm, grounding—but it only makes my pulse hammer faster, rage and confusion twisting together until I can barely breathe.
I yank my arm free.
He doesn't stop me, but his golden eyes stay locked onto mine, sharp and searching.
"You saw something." It's not a question.
I swallow hard, my breath still uneven. "You knew this would happen, didn't you?"
Kieran doesn't answer immediately. Instead, his gaze flickers toward Caelum, who has been watching our exchange in eerie silence.
A muscle ticks in Kieran's jaw. "I should've told you sooner."
I let out a sharp laugh, bitter and raw. "Yeah? You think?"
Anger surges inside me, mixing with the strange, electric energy still humming beneath my skin. Every instinct in me screams that something is wrong. That I am wrong.
Kieran rejected me because of a prophecy.
Because the Council feared me.
But why?
And what am I starting to become?
I take a step closer, my voice lowering. "Tell me what you know, Kieran."
For a second, I think he might refuse. That he'll do what he's always done—hide behind silence, behind duty, behind whatever twisted sense of protection made him reject me.
But then, he exhales slowly, something shifting in his eyes.
"You were never just meant to be my Luna."
The words send a shiver down my spine.
I stare at him, waiting.
He continues, his voice quiet but laced with something heavy. "You come from a bloodline that was supposed to be erased centuries ago."
My heart stutters.
"What?"
Kieran glances toward the dead rogue still lying motionless on the forest floor.
"The Council has kept it hidden for years, buried the truth under old laws and forgotten history.
But some of us know the stories.
The rumors." He looks at me again, his golden eyes dark and unreadable. "You're not just a werewolf, Aria."
A chill runs through me.
No. That's not possible.
I shake my head. "That doesn't make any sense. My parents were—"
Kieran cuts me off.
"Your parents were part of the Shadowmoon Pack, yes.
But your blood?
That's something else entirely."
I feel sick.
I press a hand to my chest, trying to steady my breathing, but nothing feels real anymore.
"You're lying," I whisper.
"Am I?"
I want to scream at him. Want to force him to take it back.
Because this isn't just about rejection anymore.
It's about something bigger.
Something buried so deep, even I didn't know it existed.
I turn to Caelum. "Did you know about this?"
Caelum's silver eyes glint under the moonlight.
"I had my suspicions."
A fresh wave of anger crashes over me.
"And you didn't think to tell me?"
Caelum shrugs, completely unbothered.
"Would you have believed me?"
I grit my teeth, my hands curling into fists at my sides.
My entire life, I thought I was just another wolf.
That my only purpose was to be Kieran's mate, to stand beside him as his Luna.
But now, everything I thought I knew is unraveling.
Because if Kieran is right… if my bloodline was erased from history…
Then what am I?
And why was I never supposed to exist?
-----
A Power Stirring Within Me
The energy beneath my skin shifts, simmering just below the surface.
It feels different than before.
Wilder.
Darker.
I inhale sharply, pressing a hand against my stomach as a strange heat spreads through my veins.
It's not pain, exactly—but it's too much.
Like something locked away inside me is trying to claw its way out.
Kieran notices immediately. His entire body goes rigid.
"What's wrong?"
I shake my head, gritting my teeth.
"I—I don't know."
The burning sensation intensifies, pulsing through my limbs, setting my nerves on fire. My breath shudders as I clutch my arms, a strange sensation rippling through my muscles.
It's happening again.
The same thing that happened when I was rejected.
The same power trying to break free.
I stumble back, my vision going hazy at the edges.
"Something's wrong."
Kieran moves toward me, but before he can reach me—
A blast of energy explodes from my body.
The air cracks with unseen force, sending leaves and dirt flying. Kieran is thrown back, his boots skidding against the forest floor as he barely manages to stay on his feet.
Caelum doesn't even flinch, but his silver eyes gleam with something sharp—something like recognition.
My breath heaves. My skin burns.
And then—
For the first time, I feel it.
Not just a whisper. Not just a flicker.
But power.
Something ancient.
Something that was never meant to be mine.
I clutch my arms, my head spinning.
"What—" I choke out. "What's happening to me?"
Kieran watches me like he already knows.
Like he's known for a long time.
His voice is rough when he finally speaks.
"You're waking up."

The Secrets Buried in My Blood
I can barely stand. The world tilts around me, my body still reeling from the sudden surge of power. But the worst part?
I don't feel weak.
I feel stronger.
The realization sends a shiver down my spine.
Caelum's smirk returns. "Well, that was impressive."
I shoot him a glare, but Kieran steps between us, his expression unreadable.
"This isn't a game," he snaps. "She's not ready for this."
Caelum raises an eyebrow. "Clearly, neither are you."
Kieran growls, his wolf flashing in his golden eyes, but I don't care about their rivalry.
I care about answers.
I turn to Kieran, my chest tightening. "You knew this would happen, didn't you?"
Kieran's lips press into a thin line. "I suspected."
Fury surges inside me. "And yet you still rejected me?"
Silence.
Kieran exhales, running a hand through his hair, looking more exhausted than I've ever seen him. "I thought it would protect you."
I shake my head, my heart pounding. "From what?"
Kieran's golden eyes meet mine.
And this time, he doesn't hesitate.
"From yourself."
Aria's powers are awakening—but what is she capable of? And why is Kieran afraid of what she might become?
