Chapter 616: Chapter 616: Andy: I'm going to find a job

"Seven..." Dumbledore muttered under his breath.

He also felt that it was seven, but he needed proof.

Dumbledore was different from Andy because Andy was alone, so he could speculate as much as he liked, and it didn't matter if he was wrong.

But Dumbledore was the leader of the resistance against Voldemort, so he was responsible for the lives of many people.

If he guessed wrong, it might lead to some irreversible consequences.

"Seven? Has he gone mad?" Sirius exclaimed.

That was splitting a soul, not cutting a fingernail!

A soul was the very core of a person, and splitting it once would be bad enough, let alone seven times?

Was he out of his mind?

"I'm sorry..."

Lupin said quietly. "I know that the Horcruxes are very important, and they may even involve whether we can defeat the Dark Lord. But…can someone tell me what a Horcrux actually is?"

Unlike Sirius, who'd been raised in a pureblood wizard family, Lupin spent years wandering the wizarding world as a werewolf wizard, and he didn't like dark magic, so naturally he didn't know what a Horcrux actually is.

"Remus, a Horcrux is a very evil kind of dark magic."

Dumbledore explained. "Voldemort wasn't lying when he claimed to have defeated death. To completely defeat Voldemort, we must destroy his Horcruxes."

Dumbledore briefly explained the function of the Horcrux and then said, "This locket will be kept by me for now, and when the time comes, I will destroy it."

Naturally, the others had no objection.

"Professor, if there's nothing else, I'll be going back now," Andy suddenly said.

"Of course!" Dumbledore nodded slightly.

Sirius hurriedly spoke up, "Professor, the Quidditch World Cup is still..."

Dumbledore pressed his hand and explained, "Sirius, I already have a plan. You can go to the Quidditch World Cup and watch the final as usual."

"And…have fun!"

Andy looked at Dumbledore suspiciously.

Could it be that this old man was planning to destroy Voldemort's Horcrux on the day of the final?

Use the Horcrux to lure Voldemort away?

That seems like a good idea.

Harry suddenly asked, "Andy, what are your plans after this? I mean, how are you going to spend the summer?"

"I'm going to find a job!" Andy said.

"Find a job!?" Harry was dumbfounded.

Sirius snickered and raised an eyebrow. "Kid, running low on pocket money? You should consider working for me. I'll give you thirty gold galleons a week."

Lupin couldn't help but retort, "He just earned 10,000 gold galleons last year... Sirius, that was your bounty."

Sirius: "..."

That's a good point, but don't say it again next time!

Andy shrugged his shoulders and joked, "I just want to experience what it's like to work. In Muggle terms... it's an internship."

Harry's face had a strange expression, and he asked curiously, "Er... where do you plan to work?"

"Borgin and Burkes!" Andy laughed.

***

Knockturn Alley.

Andy really didn't want to come here unless it was absolutely necessary.

The environment here was filthy, with rubbish and filth everywhere in the alley. This was the lowest rung of the wizarding world, and apart from a few people, most of the people here looked a bit out of it.

Bang!

Andy flicked his sleeve and strode leisurely towards the shop not far away after casually knocking off a dark wizard who was trying to abduct and sell him.

Borgin and Burkes!

Creak –

Pushing open the door, Andy glanced around.

There were quite a few knick-knacks here: gloved human hands, bloodstained tarot cards, eerie-looking eyeballs, creepy masks... and all sorts of strange objects with no obvious purpose.

It looked more like a wacky muggle occult general store.

When he heard the door open, Mr Borgin came out from the back room.

"Welcome..."

Halfway through his greeting, Mr Borgin's face twitched uncomfortably. "You shouldn't be here!"

"Do you know me, Mr. Borgin?" Andy asked.

"Your reputation travels far and wide!"

Mr Borgin didn't seem to want to waste any time. He said bluntly, "What do you want to buy? Take your pick; I'll give you a 10% discount. But you'd better hurry; I don't want to get into trouble because of you."

Andy looked around, then suddenly asked, "You were his boss before; are you still afraid of him?"

Mr Borgin: "..."

Can being a boss mean you can beat your employees?

That doesn't make sense!

"Not anymore!"

Mr Borgin said irritably, "What do you want to buy?"

"Hmmm..."

Andy pondered for a moment, then said a little sheepishly, "Mr Borgin, to be honest, I'm here looking for a job. I want to earn some pocket money before the new academic year starts."

Mr Borgin: "..."

This... is a lie!

"I don't need any more staff!" Mr Borgin growled.

"Maybe... you could hire me and give me a chance. I'll work hard." Andy suggested.

"Get out of here, now! You're not welcome here!" Mr Borgin seemed to want to chase Andy away, but he was afraid of Andy and didn't dare to actually take action.

Andy raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Andy had originally thought that Mr Borgin might be a hidden powerful wizard, but now it seemed that he was indeed afraid of Voldemort.

"Do you fear him so much because you know some of his secrets?" Andy suddenly asked.

Mr Borgin's face instantly grew pale.

"I don't know anything!" Mr Borgin growled.

He felt that he was being wrongly implicated.

Voldemort had indeed worked for him when he was young.

But so what?

With Voldemort's cautious nature before, how could he let Mr Borgin discover his secret?

So Mr Borgin really didn't know anything.

"You know his secret, but he didn't kill you..."

Andy analysed to himself, "The Ministry of Magic has been cracking down on the sale of dark magic items, but your business is booming."

"Mr. Borgin..."

Before Andy could finish his sentence, Mr Borgin interrupted, "If you continue to stay here, I really can't keep this shop open."

He really didn't know Voldemort's secret.

But Andy had visited the shop.

He had fought Voldemort before!

If Voldemort mistakenly thought that Andy knew something or had said something, he would never let him go.

As for letting Andy work here... Don't be ridiculous!

Once Voldemort finds out about this, he'll bring a whole bunch of Death Eaters over to hunt Andy down.

And of course, he won't let Andy's boss off the hook either!

Andy: "..."

"Fine!" Andy shrugged helplessly.

He may have overestimated this, Mr Borgin.

He may have some achievements in the crafting of dark magic items, but he is by no means a powerful wizard.

"Well... I've thought of it. In fact, I can disguise my appearance with a Polyjuice Potion."

Andy had another idea. "What do you think?"

Mr Borgin: "..."

Are you trying to blackmail me?
