Chapter 632: Chapter 632: Causes and Consequences
When the flames died down, Andy could see his surroundings clearly and realised that he had arrived near a village.
Dumbledore was standing right in front of him.
"Professor!"
Andy looked around a few times and asked with raised eyebrows, "What place is this? And...what exactly was going on tonight?"
Dumbledore looked at the village not far away and invited, "Let's walk and talk!"
"Okay!" Andy naturally had no objection.
"After several failures, Voldemort began to doubt the people around him. He felt that someone was passing on information to us."
Dumbledore said slowly. "There were two people he suspected: Snape... and Malfoy."
"Professor Snape has been exposed?" Andy was a little surprised.
"Yes, he has been exposed on our side," Dumbledore said.
Andy: "..."
"So I won't be seeing Professor Snape next academic year?" Andy asked.
"Voldemort has given Snape an order to infiltrate our side—I mean, the Order of the Phoenix."
Dumbledore continued. "Of course, you can't expect me to act like a fool and be ignorant of Snape's actions."
"So I passed on false information to Voldemort through Snape, and I also let Snape attend the Order meeting."
Andy paused.
The Order meeting... Andy remembered that Sirius and the others had been discussing how to defend against Voldemort's attack on the Quidditch World Cup.
Did Voldemort know about that?
Then what about tonight's attack?
"And then what?" Andy asked curiously.
"Collins, the one thing Voldemort wants more than anything is to kill you... and me, and Harry, too."
"But it won't be an easy task."
Dumbledore explained. "Voldemort believes that magic is might. And when he loses that might, the people who were in awe of him and followed him out of fear will waver."
"For example, the people who caused chaos at the Quidditch World Cup."
Andy: "..."
You've been talking for ages and still haven't got to the point!
"Professor!" Andy urged.
"Don't worry, I'll get to the point in a moment."
Dumbledore chuckled and continued, "Through Snape, Voldemort believes that we will deploy forces at the Quidditch stadium and the Ministry of Magic."
"But that's wrong."
"When Snape reported this to Voldemort, he also informed him that I might have suspected him of everything but still allowed him to attend the Order of the Phoenix meeting."
Upon saying this, Dumbledore suddenly glanced at Andy. "In fact, from the very beginning, Voldemort had no intention of taking action."
Andy: "..."
Indeed! From an objective perspective, attacking the Quidditch World Cup venue and the Ministry of Magic would not benefit Voldemort in any way.
After thinking about it, Andy suddenly had a guess.
"You deliberately let Professor Snape be exposed so that he could completely lurk around Voldemort?"
"And Voldemort, wanting to find out who the undercover informant in his circle truly was, planned tonight's operation based on the false information you gave him?"
"But…"
Andy frowned when he got to this part.
Dumbledore laughed at this, saying, "Collins, the effects of your battle at the Ministry of Magic extended far beyond just making you the next century's greatest wizard."
Andy: "..."
Dumbledore looked at Andy and continued, "Voldemort is very cautious at the moment... Collins, if we work together, we can capture Voldemort alive in an environment where we have restricted the ability to use Apparition or other displacement magic."
"To prevent this, he must ensure that those around him are loyal enough."
Andy instantly got the picture.
The balance of power was now tipped, and Voldemort was paranoid about his own safety.
Only when he felt sufficiently secure would Voldemort consider how to kill Andy and Dumbledore.
"So Voldemort attacked the Ministry?" Andy asked.
Lucius Malfoy had been imprisoned in the Ministry—an unusual treatment for a Death Eater.
"Yes! And the person in charge of this operation was Snape."
Dumbledore said. "To ensure security at the Quidditch stadium, I had to leave you there... because you have a sufficient deterrent effect on Death Eaters."
"I understand!" Andy said with a blank expression.
Not only could Andy engage in direct combat with Voldemort, but he also showed no mercy when dealing with Death Eaters. Under these circumstances, the Death Eaters would definitely be afraid of Andy.
Tonight's situation also perfectly illustrates this.
Dumbledore continued, "Snape led the Death Eaters to raid the Ministry of Magic... Of course, we were prepared for this."
"To protect Snape's identity, I had to expose Malfoy... His family is now under close protection."
"Then Voldemort personally showed up, and I fought him in the Ministry."
Andy: "..."
Bloody hell, have I missed the show?
"What happened to Voldemort?" Andy asked curiously.
Dumbledore appeared unharmed, so he must be fine.
But what about Voldemort? Was he hurt?
"He escaped."
Dumbledore didn't seem to want to talk about it, so he changed the subject. "Snape passed on some information to me. He said that Voldemort seems to have found a way to infiltrate Hogwarts."
Andy: "..."
When the next academic year begins, Hogwarts will be on full alert. The entire school will be shrouded in a magical barrier.
Under these circumstances, the outsiders can't enter the school grounds using usual methods.
But...
"He probably won't dare to come, will he?" Andy asked, raising an eyebrow.
You can't just Apparate in and out of Hogwarts.
If Voldemort dared to come, he would never leave.
Dumbledore winked at Andy before stopping in front of a house. "This should be the place, I believe."
"This is?" Andy asked.
"Your Professor Snape has left, and I need to find a new Potions professor before the start of the school year," Dumbledore said with a helpless tone.
"What does that have to do with me?" Andy sighed.
Dumbledore pushed open the door and waved his wand to turn on the lights in the living room.
Andy followed him in.
It looked like the house had been through a battle, with broken furniture and ornaments everywhere, and Andy could smell a faint, bloody scent.
"Ugh..."
Andy looked around and complained in a low voice, "This is such an amateurish setup... Fighting is not going to wreck the environment to this extent."
"If it involved widespread spells, the outside of the house would not have been left unscathed."
"...Luckily, he only teaches Potions!"
And there is also one sofa—the only piece of furniture in the room that is still intact.
Since this person would be the future Potions professor, Andy felt that it was better to give him some slack.
Dumbledore retracted his wand, looked at the strange sofa intently, and said, "Collins, you should know that if we want to defeat Voldemort, we must destroy his Horcruxes."
The sofa trembled.
