Chapter 328: Chapter 174 Prosthesis

At home I waited for Master Louis Simon. I knew the healer well, and I was wary of implanting a living prosthesis without a specialist, so I invited him. The Frenchman himself, when he heard my idea, got excited again, as he did with the artificial eyes, and answered in the same way as the first time. The man even looked twenty years younger — I was stunned to see the effect of the magician's work.

He hadn't come alone, but with his students and a couple of Muggleborn interns from the hospital. It seems that Monsieur Simon wants to bring these talents into his relatively young line. On December sixteenth, at one o'clock in the afternoon, we piled into the drawing room of Greengrass Manor, where we were greeted not only by the current head of the family, but also by the former head. There were six other mages I didn't know — guards, I suppose.

The grafting took place in a large empty room on the other side of the manor, and it wasn't that difficult in terms of energy expenditure. The difficulty lay in the long and tedious work. One by one, Master Simon connected veins, arteries, and nerves; attaching the bone was the easiest part. It was not possible to simply glue the prosthesis, everything was done gradually, i.e. the edges were brought together, blood flow and nerve tissue were connected in this place, human and artificial muscles were joined.

I thought it should be done the other way around, but the master explained that mages have not been doing such operations for a long time, because chimerologists and necromancers, or rather one of the branches of necromancy — dark healers — have been outlawed. And no one before me has ever managed to grow limbs from plants.

The problem is the energy channels that are present in all living things and even some of the undead. It's like a second set of nerves or circulatory system that circulates magic through the body and connects the astral bodies to the physical. Everything has a soul, that's a fact.

In our case, the prosthesis is an artificial formation, but thanks to the fact that the metal bones are soaked with Lady Greengrass' magic and the tissues are grown with the woman's blood, the magic will be able to flow through other pathways, artificial ones, and the bloodstream will be the base, later the magic will do everything itself.

The main thing is to get the first currents flowing, and then the water itself will wash away the banks. Well, all parts of the new leg are impregnated with magic and have grown with its help, so I'm not afraid of rejection.

My only fear was that the woman wouldn't like the look of it. However, when the lady was brought to her senses the next day and immediately felt the new limb as if it were her own, the woman only cried and continued to test the leg for mobility and sensitivity as if she could not believe what was happening... or had it already happened? or had it already happened? In the end it was over.

I wouldn't be me without some of my new knowledge, so while the healers worked with special monocles, one of which was given to me, I not only observed what was happening and helped as much as I could, but also tried to adjust the "frequency" of my spiritual vision to see in the same spectrum as the monocles. In the second hour of the operation I succeeded, but the enchanted glass, the medical artifact, showed lines and contours with dotted lines on the patient's skin.

My eyes saw what was going on in the entire color spectrum, and with increased concentration I even managed to see the details of interest as if in section, as on medical training posters. I consider this a great achievement, but it did not end there.

In the course of my work, I learned a few subtle specialized diagnostic spells, a few subtle charms that gently stimulate nerves and veins/arteries, making them slightly glow in a certain spectrum for a while and easier to see with artifact monocles.

Enchantments to mend flesh, tissue, skin, remove blood clots and excess blood and tissue in the area of surgery, spells to remove deep scars and connective tissue. Everything that happened was written on a memory bracelet — a kind of recorder with a "picture" of the spectrum of weaves.

Daphne and Astoria spent the entire operation and the time necessary for the normal grafting of their mother's new limb under the door of the room, refusing to go anywhere. We, on the other hand, did not refuse to rest as guests, leaving some of the Master's personal apprentices on duty. When the woman herself left the room, though leaning on her husband, the girls also cried, and we left, leaving the female side of the Greengrass family alone.

Lord Greengrass personally escorted us to the fireplace, bade us goodbye, and mentioned that he and I should meet in the next few days. I agreed and went home. French went to the Ministry where he made a transfer to the international line of the chimney.
