Chapter 97: Chapter 97: A Rogue Bludger and a Broken Bone
The next day, Aiden was walking out of the library when he ran into Harry and Ron, who were rushing to the Quidditch pitch.
"Aiden, are you coming to watch me play?" Harry invited enthusiastically. "We're playing against Slytherin today."
"Forget it," Ron added quickly. "Aiden doesn't like Quidditch."
"No," Aiden said, giving Ron a mysterious smile. "I plan to go and watch."
Ron swallowed hard, a sudden feeling of dread washing over him. "You're not planning to... take care of Harry, are you?" he asked cautiously.
"What? Why would you think that?" Aiden asked, genuinely confused.
"Because Harry is Gryffindor's best Seeker," Ron reasoned, crossing his arms defensively. "Maybe you'd make a move for Ravenclaw's sake."
"If I wanted to harm him," Aiden replied, rolling his eyes, "I could have just supported Professor Snape's point of view the other night. Why would I do it now?" He made a gun gesture with his fingers and playfully "shot" Ron.
Harry, watching the two of them, was getting anxious. "Come on, let's hurry up, or I'm going to be late."
They quickly arrived at the Quidditch pitch, and Harry went to the preparation area to wait. Aiden took the opportunity to hide himself in a blind spot of consciousness and began to wander through the stands.
"Aiden, let's go find a seat..." Ron looked back and found that Aiden was gone, a look of utter confusion on his face.
With a blast from the whistle, the Quidditch game began. It was an intense clash from the start. The Slytherin team had specifically chosen students with large, bulky builds, and when attacking, they would use their bodies to directly collide with the Gryffindor Chasers.
"Oh, look at these trolls!" Lee Jordan yelled angrily from the commentary box. "They only know how to use their bodies to hit people!"
"Watch out, Scarhead," Draco taunted as he flew past Harry. Just then, the Golden Snitch appeared, hovering to Harry's left. He immediately gave chase. Seeing Harry pursuing him, Draco panicked and began to flee, but in doing so, he also caught sight of the Snitch. The desire for victory overcame his fear, and he turned to chase it as well. The Snitch swooped upward, and Harry executed a perfect tailwhip maneuver, dodging Draco and closing in on his prize.
At the same time, in the shadows beneath the stands, a small hand snapped its fingers.
A Bludger on the field was suddenly taken over by a strange, powerful magic and began to rocket toward Harry like a guided missile.
Ron took out his wand to try and knock the Bludger down, but Hermione stopped him.
The small hand went to snap its fingers a second time, but it was caught by a firm, fair hand. Dobby the house-elf glanced back and saw a pair of gorgeous, heterochromatic eyes staring at him.
"Hello, Mr. Dobby," Aiden said, a dangerous smile on his face. "We meet again."
"A kind wizard," Dobby squeaked. "He called Dobby 'Mister.' No! Bad Dobby, bad Dobby..." He began to bang his head against a nearby stone pillar.
"Alright, stop," Aiden's voice was low and ethereal, the power of a hypnotist mixed into the sound. Dobby shuddered and froze.
"I won't bother with the details," Aiden said, reaching out and grabbing the house-elf. "Let me examine your mind." He didn't give Dobby a chance to resist. The Hypnotist's ability began to work, his magic reaching into Dobby's mind.
'This is incredible,' Aiden thought. What appeared before his mind's eye was a huge Tiwaz (ᛏ) sacrifice rune and an Ehwaz (ᛖ) companionship rune, deeply engraved into Dobby's very consciousness. 'Control.' Aiden could clearly read the meaning conveyed by the runes. 'Isn't this just thought imprinting? The ancient wizards were truly playing on another level.'
Upon closer inspection, he could see that the runes were already somewhat damaged. 'He can actually use his own will to resist the runes carved into his mind?' Aiden was genuinely surprised.
[Ding. Perhaps this is the greatness of free will. All living things yearn for freedom.]
'That's a real shame,' Aiden thought, his voice devoid of emotion. 'I admire his will, but I can't ignore his actions.' He was not in a good mood. So, he used his own power to repair the broken, controlling runes. Dobby's lively, expressive eyes immediately began to dull.
"Sigh," Aiden let out a long breath as he watched Dobby Disapparate.
[Ding. You could think of the good side. At least you learned the method of thought imprinting from Dobby. It might add another brick to your path to becoming a Dark Lord...]
'You shut up.'
After dealing with Dobby, Aiden returned to the stands. Harry was still desperately trying to avoid the rogue Bludger. During the chase, Draco was accidentally hit by it and sent flying from his broom. He fell directly toward the section where Aiden was standing.
Seeing the unlucky boy plummeting headfirst, Aiden reached out and caught him steadily. After a dizzying spin, Draco felt himself being held firmly. 'Hmm, this feels familiar,' he thought. He looked up and, as expected, saw those beautiful, heterochromatic eyes looking down at him.
"You're quite the picky one, young man," Aiden said playfully. "If you had fallen on anyone else from this height, they wouldn't have been able to handle it."
Seeing that he was being held in Aiden's arm like a sack of potatoes, Draco began to struggle. On the high platform, Lucius Malfoy breathed a quiet sigh of relief when he saw his son had been caught.
Finally, the game ended with Harry catching the Golden Snitch. He fell to the sand of the pitch, his face contorted in pain. The Bludger, however, was still laughing maniacally as it attacked him. Seeing Harry suffering, Hermione's protective instincts took over. She pulled out her wand, and a powerful Blasting Curse shattered the Bludger into a thousand pieces.
Lockhart, seeing his chance to perform, immediately rushed forward and helped Harry up. Aiden couldn't stop himself from rolling his eyes at his clumsy fumbling.
"Poor child, let me see," Lockhart announced. "I know best how to treat broken bones." He took out his wand, pointed it at Harry's broken arm, and declared, "Brackium Emendo!"
A flash of light, and Harry's arm went completely limp, like a rubber hose.
Hermione touched the boneless arm, tears of heartache and fury welling in her eyes. "You quack!" she shrieked. At that moment, for the sake of her dear friend, Lockhart's idol halo was completely shattered. She stared at him with a stern expression that was eerily reminiscent of Professor McGonagall.
"Alright, we'd better get him to the Hospital Wing," Aiden said, stepping forward. He picked up Harry and carried him off the field.
