HP/LOTM: Hogwart's Mind Dragon

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: A Night of Oaths and Revelations

Inside the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey was administering a foul-smelling Bone-Regrowing Potion to Harry, grumbling as she worked. "Which idiot took out his bones? Originally, I just needed to set them, but now he has to regrow the entire lot."

"Perhaps it was that mischievous young wizard from last time," Aiden joked from the doorway.

"Alright, Mr. Prewett, that's enough from you. It's time for you to leave," Madam Pomfrey said, shooing him away.

Aiden took out a worn notebook and handed it to her. "Madam, this is the notebook I borrowed from you. It was of great help to me, and now I am returning it to its rightful owner."

Madam Pomfrey took the notebook, her stern gaze softening considerably. "Child, you are a talented wizard," she said quietly. "Perhaps you should consider becoming a Healer in the future."

"Thank you for your appreciation, Madam," Aiden replied with a respectful bow. "If the chance arises, I will." He then turned and exited the ward.

Later that night, Harry lay alone in his bed, listening to the rustling sounds of the empty hospital wing.

"Kill... kill him..."

The disembodied, hissing voice returned. Harry sat up quickly, his eyes darting around the dark room. "Who's there?"

"Hello."

"Ah!" Harry recoiled, pressing himself against his headboard.

A small figure flipped over and sat nimbly at the foot of his bed. "Dobby?"

"Harry Potter should have listened to Dobby," the house-elf squeaked. "You should have gone home when you missed the train."

"It was you!" Harry glared at him. "You almost got Ron and me expelled!"

"Dobby is very sad about that," the elf said, his large eyes welling up with tears. "And even sadder after making the Bludger chase Harry. Dobby even had to iron his own hands." He held up his bandaged hands as proof.

"The Bludger was you, too?!" Harry stood up, his anger boiling over. "Are you trying to kill me?"

"No, no!" Dobby cried, retreating under Harry's furious questioning. "Dobby is very grateful to Harry Potter! If it weren't for Harry Potter, other house-elves would be living lives worse than pigs and dogs! Although Dobby's life is also worse than pigs and dogs now..." His voice trailed off. "Listen, Harry Potter cannot stay at Hogwarts! Something terrible is about to happen here! History is about to repeat itself! And... Harry Potter must be extremely careful of Aiden Prewett. He gives Dobby a very terrifying feeling, like... like what the old tales of my people say about the one who once defeated..."

Dobby suddenly snapped his head around, his eyes wide with terror. A pair of heterochromatic eyes was staring intently at him from the deepest shadows of the room. Harry followed his gaze and fell back onto the bed in fear.

Two sharp snaps echoed through the room simultaneously. Dobby, as if he had run into a steel wall, was knocked to the floor. "How is that possible?" he stammered, flustered. "Dobby's magic should not be restricted by Hogwarts!"

The owner of the eyes walked out from the shadows. It was Aiden.

"You were able to escape my control again," Aiden said quietly, a strange, familiar feeling surging in his heart. "Is there something special about you?" He looked at Dobby, and something clicked into place.

'System,' he thought, 'you knew about this all along, didn't you?'

[Ding. The System hoped the host would discover it proactively. This will help the host further understand the nature of prophecy.]

'The Collective Unconscious Sea... so the house-elves' yearning for freedom has formed a consensus. This is no longer something I can stop alone.'

In the real world, Dobby and Harry watched as Aiden fell into a moment of deep contemplation. He then sat on Harry's sickbed and, with a wave of his hand, used an Accio charm to pull Dobby over.

"Dobby, right?" Aiden began. "Although this might sound hypocritical, I must first apologize for what happened this afternoon." He took off his hat and placed it over his heart, revealing the pair of small, elegant dragon horns on his head.

"Cool!" Harry exclaimed, his fear momentarily forgotten. "Aiden, you actually grew horns! No wonder you've been wearing a hat lately." His good hand twitched, eager to touch them.

"I guarantee you," Aiden said without looking at him, "if you extend your hand, it will suffer the same fate as its companion." His light threat was enough to make Harry stop.

"Alright, Dobby," Aiden said, his expression turning serious. "Let's talk about our problem."

Dobby swallowed hard. "Dobby has no problem!" he shrieked.

Fearing he would wake the entire castle, Aiden pulled the three of them into a conscious blind spot and cast a silencing charm around them. "Harry. Dobby. Listen carefully. Your next decision will affect the future of two races. Please, both of you, listen quietly until I am finished."

"Okay," they both said, subdued.

"First, let's be clear about one thing: house-elves were the losers in an ancient war between wizards and magical creatures. The ancient wizards, choosing not to exterminate a sentient race, used certain means to enslave the entire house-elf species. I have no comment on the actions of our predecessors, but the current situation is that house-elves are enslaved by wizards."

Harry glanced furtively at Dobby, then listened intently.

"At the same time," Aiden continued, "as living beings, they naturally possess an instinct to yearn for freedom. The collective will of a magical species can affect the sea of consciousness. When that yearning gathers in the sea of consciousness, it forms a prophecy. The most crucial thing is that a prophecy will constantly urge the magic of the world to make its contents a reality. And now, the first house-elf to fulfill that prophecy has appeared."

Aiden looked deeply at Dobby. Harry and the house-elf both began to understand.

"So what do you mean by 'the future of two races'?" Harry asked.

"Will the house-elves, upon regaining their freedom, seek revenge against the wizards who enslaved them? Or should we, as wizards, worry about the rise of a brand new, powerful race of magical beings?" Aiden stared intently at Dobby, waiting for his answer. In the eyes of a hypnotist, all lies would be exposed.

"No!" Dobby said, his eyes firm and honest. "Dobby just wants to be free! Dobby doesn't want to enslave anyone!"

Harry, inspired by his conviction, was about to speak up for him, but Aiden held up a hand. "Okay. Then I extend an invitation to you. Join my organization, abide by its rules, and help me avoid the outbreak of war." A hint of cunning appeared in his eyes.

"Okay! Dobby will join!" The young house-elf, lacking experience in dealing with cunning wizards, sold himself without a second thought.

"Good. Swear after me." A temporary organizational structure formed in Aiden's mind.

"Outsider not belonging to this world, Great Master of the Sea of Consciousness, Grey-White Dragon controlling minds, I swear to you that I am willing to abide by the oath, not to proactively provoke war, and to strive tirelessly to maintain peace among all magical creatures."

As Dobby repeated the words, a strange, ethereal light appeared on the surface of their bodies before fading away.

"Oh, it's wonderful! Dobby can actually join a secret society with wizards!" Dobby cheered excitedly.

"Aiden, what is this society? I want to join, too!" Harry raised his hand eagerly.

"Ahem," Aiden coughed to cover his embarrassment as an image of a certain blonde-haired girl flashed through his mind. "This branch is tentatively for magical creatures to join. The one you can participate in is still being prepared."

"Dear Mr. Prewett... no, Leader," Dobby asked expectantly. "Can Dobby know the name of our society?"

Aiden's eyes darted away. He pursed his lips and said, "The Society for the Protection of Curly-Haired Baboons."

"Huh?" Harry and Dobby asked in unison.
