Hunter X Hunter: I Got Stronger After I Died

Chapter 114: A Late-Night Visitor

Inside an unremarkable three-story clinic.

On the hospital bed, Kurt remained unconscious.

To one side of the bed stood an IV stand, and on the other, a monitor displaying vital signs.

This clinic was highly professional, but it didn't take just any "client."

According to Argo's findings, the defining feature of this clinic was its sky-high prices. In return, however, the doctors were top-tier.

If a "client" sought treatment but couldn't afford the exorbitant fees, the clinic's owner would simply extract a valuable "part" from them as compensation.

For Moro, at this moment, anything that could be solved with money wasn't a problem at all.

By the bedside...

Seeing that Kurt's condition had fully stabilized, Moro finally had time to examine the parchment and black envelope he had retrieved from the safe.

Untying the string wrapped around the parchment, he carefully unfolded the aged, yellowish paper, revealing a hand-drawn map of mountains and rivers.

"A map?"

Moro scanned the sketched landscapes, his eyebrows slightly raised.

Soon, his attention was drawn to a small area near the center of the map—circled in red ink.

A thin red line extended from this red circle, winding through the mountains and forests, leading directly to a marked human settlement beyond the wilderness.

It appeared to be a deliberately indicated route.

However, aside from the visual markings, there were no written explanations.

"A treasure map?"

Moro was puzzled.

Without any accompanying text, he had no way of identifying the map's actual location.

Even professional geographers well-versed in maps worldwide would struggle to determine where this one pointed—after all, it lacked coordinates or any reference points.

And the fact that a specific location was highlighted in red made it hard for Moro not to suspect it was some kind of treasure map.

The drawing style and texture of the parchment gave off an unmistakable sense of age.

Moreover, considering that Nolan, the founder of the "Menu Organization," had carefully stored it in a hidden safe, its origins were undoubtedly significant.

Moro studied the parchment for a while but couldn't make any sense of it. He rolled it back up and tied the string around it again.

He decided that when he had time, he would retrieve the Ruby Avian Dagger from the "Tree Hollow" and store this mysterious parchment there as well.

Placing the rolled-up parchment aside, Moro picked up the black envelope. Running his fingers over its surface, he could tell that the contents inside were a single, firm, card-like object.

"No recipient name, no sender name."

He flipped the envelope over, inspecting it for any clues, but there was nothing to indicate its origin.

Nolan had really collected some bizarre things.

The most peculiar part was that he had stored this in a highly secure safe—yet the envelope itself showed no signs of ever being opened.

The only thing that stood out was the strange eye-shaped wax seal on the envelope.

Instead of breaking the seal, Moro carefully tore open the side of the envelope.

Inside was, as expected, a single card.

The card was pitch black, its surface scattered with random silver specks of light.

At its center, there was an eye identical to the wax seal—but enclosed within a square frame.

In the bottom-right corner of the card, the number "61" was printed.

That was all.

Nothing else was inside the envelope.

Moro examined the eye symbol before flipping the card over.

"Hmm?"

Under the reflection of angled light, a series of strange, silvery symbols shimmered faintly on the card's back. As he tilted the card up and down, the symbols flickered in and out of visibility.

"Divine Script."

Moro instantly recognized the origin of the symbols.

He had seen similar Divine Script before on the airship.

Or rather, he had personally destroyed it.

"Wait... it's not just Divine Script."

Moro observed more closely and noticed that, among the densely packed, tadpole-like Divine Script, there were a few characters of an entirely different style.

However, he didn't recognize these symbols either.

In the vast history of the Hunter world, numerous civilizations had flourished.

Not only were there countless languages in use today, but the variety of ancient scripts recorded throughout history was enough to keep linguists busy for generations.

While Moro didn't recognize these particular symbols, he could still research them.

Of course, Divine Script wasn't something he could just look up on the internet.

Instead, he isolated the non-Divine characters and searched for them using the most advanced online translation tools.

Soon, he found an answer.

The unfamiliar characters belonged to Krakauer Script, a rare and obscure language.

Globally, only a single region in the ancient nation of Ganyu still included it in their educational curriculum.

When translated into a common language, the text read:

"The Eye of Truth"

Reading the search results, Moro shifted his gaze back to the eye symbol at the center of the card.

"The Eye of Truth... What exactly is it?"

A secret organization?

A cult?

Moro shook his head. He wasn't interested.

He knew that injecting Nen into the card could potentially activate the Divine Script on the back.

But he had no intention of trying.

The world was filled with mysterious and bizarre phenomena, enough to satisfy humanity's deep-rooted curiosity.

But Moro only cared about destroying Death Nodes.

Even if he was intrigued, he would never waste time just to satisfy curiosity.

For example, when absorbing Death Aura from the graveyard corpses, he had caught a glimpse of a strange plant closely linked to the Stellar Extraction ability. He had been curious about it—but only in passing.

There was simply no time for distractions.

Since Nolan had carefully stored this card in his safe, Moro decided to keep it for now. He'd toss it into the "Tree Hollow" along with the parchment later.

Deep into the night...

After finishing his examination of the parchment and envelope, Moro sat by the bed and resumed his usual training.

In the late hours, he opened his eyes, instinctively glancing at Kurt.

"Still sleeping?"

It had been a full day and night since Kurt received treatment.

While his vital signs were stable, he showed no sign of waking up.

Moro withdrew his gaze and got up, stretching his body slightly.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Moro's eyes narrowed.

A Star Marker he had placed in advance had just disappeared.

A few seconds earlier…

On the first floor of the clinic, two women in black uniforms arrived at the entrance.

One was older, with a muscular build and thick twin braids, her expression sharp and severe.

The other was younger, with long hair, sparse eyebrows, and piercing eyes.

Bang.

The older woman gently pushed the sliding door all the way open, her gaze subtly shifting toward the bottom corner of the door frame.

There, crushed under the door, was a tiny, unremarkable dead mosquito.

"Tch. Good awareness."

The braided woman murmured in approval.

The younger woman, however, looked confused.

"Yuin, use Gyo."

The braided woman shot her a glance.

The woman, Yuin, quickly focused Nen into her eyes—only to notice a thin wisp of lingering aura dissipating from the corner.

"What is that?"

Following the fading aura, Yuin spotted the mosquito corpse held in place by transparent tape.

Her gaze sharpened.

The braided woman patted her on the shoulder.

"You still have a lot to learn."

"..."
