I am an Eldritch Entity

Chapter 269: Time to hunt

Eryndor was only at the stage two of Qi Condensation realm, but due to his abnormal mastery of the cultivation arts, his combat prowess was nearly at the middle stages.

It wasn't that easy to jump realms if one didn't have a suitable cultivation art, a weapon, and other things, therefore Eryndor's combat prowess was already impressive for his real level.

The gray winged bird was at the middle stage as well, but seeing how even a full powered Internal Fist straight at its chest was only able to break a bone or two, and that the bird was still able to fly with just a little wobble, it was apparent that the bird was stronger.

I only got an advantage because of my Cognitive Scrying.

As he had that thought, Eryndor glanced at his Spatial Sight once again.

I should soon be in their range.

A few seconds later, Eryndor abruptly changed his direction and hid behind a tree.

By no means would such a ridiculous move be enough to escape the pursuit of a beast which could sense you and was faster than you, but there were a few disciples ready to bear the wrath of the beast just in its range.

As soon as he escaped its sight, Eryndor used Telekinesis to simply control the beast's head.

He turned it slightly to change its field of vision.

What entered its sharp view were three more humans some distance away.

"Look! An injured gray winged woodpecker!"

One of the disciples pointed to a bird in the distance which was flying in a shaky manner at a low height, as if searching for something.

It only became easier for the gray winged woodpecker to switch its target to the three incoming people out of self preservation, who looked as if they were about to attack it while the one who harmed it began running in the opposite direction.

The three disciples hadn't yet realized that the one they were rushing towards was a middle stage Stable realm beast.

But then again, if they were smart, they wouldn't have resorted to such lousy tactics.

When the bird's aura finally flared as it locked onto them, their faces paled.

Eryndor calmly watched the proceedings from a distance. He was out of range of both the parties, but his Spatial Sight allowed him to still see them perfectly.

As expected, it is a tough fight.

As someone who had participated in the mission and were relying more on treasures rather than their own strength to complete it, it was obvious their treasures would be targeted towards the gray winged woodpecker species.

Despite being weaker individually, the group of three who were each at stage one of the Qi Condensation realm, had a not-too-shabby coordination and a few important treasures which were targeted towards the bird.

It allowed them to keep the fight even.

Not for long.

Eryndor narrowed his eyes.

The bird didn't have as much stamina as the three people combined, he couldn't let this go on.

He used Cognitive Scrying once again, glancing at the plans they had in mind, then used Telekinesis at an opportune time to disrupt a key component of their plan.

It allowed the bird to finally land a fatal blow on one of the disciples.

The other two were shaken as a hint of uncertainty crept into their minds. They hadn't noticed the minor strange failure which happened out of nowhere.

They just thought that it was natural to fail every now and then while fighting, especially against a beast much stronger than them.

The second time, Eryndor controlled a stone to disrupt the balance of another disciple, causing their arrangement to fall short and the beast to land another blow.

Probably because they were more careful than last time, one of the disciples spotted the unnatural movement of the stone.

"Someone is targeting us! Find them!"

They input more Qi into their surveillance skills and extended its range, if only by a little.

A pity that Eryndor had already accounted for it. He was standing far away from the fight.

They couldn't run away from this fight either, as the gray winged woodpecker was stronger and faster than them.

Even if they used their treasures to restrict or damage it, the beast wouldn't completely go down.

If it decided to pursue them then the situation would go back to square one, with them having to turn around and continue dealing with the beast.

A few minutes passed by as the disciples tried changing the battlefield by luring the beast along at different spots so that they could search for the person behind all this while fighting.

Fortunately, the beast was getting tired and that lessened the burden on them.

There was a small discussion among them on what to do. To let the beast leave and escape themselves, or to kill the beast and escape with its corpse?

They still hadn't found the person behind all of this.

Sure, that stone being rolled beneath the foot of the disciple might've been a coincidence, and they might've even let it go, but as if the person had grown bolder since they had anyway discovered his scheme, the disruptions got more and more blatant, further proving that such a person did indeed exist.

At this point, the three disciples were each in bad conditions and the beast was showing signs of withdrawing from the fight, it was at the end of its stamina.

Eventually, they decided to stop restricting the beast through one of their treasures, and planned to escape themselves as well.

Just then, as if the person behind everything had heard their thoughts, an extremely fast existence entered their range of senses and was closing the gap with them quickly.

The beast, with its high sensitivity to danger, was the first to flap its wings and fly straight upwards.

But strangely, something invisible hit it midway, causing it to crash into a tree.

As the three disciples took the opportunity to flee, the entity rapidly climbed the tree and ended the beast with a single Void Piercer to its brain.

Eryndor held the beast and ran towards the disciples, tying it to his waist in the process as he thought.

My turn to hunt.
