I Am Hades, The supreme GOD of the Underworld!

Chapter 496: Chapter 496: The First God-King Among the Underworld Warriors: Charon!!!

Progress is made one step at a time. To rise instantly to the heavens? That exists only in stories.

For Hades, his steady ascent is carefully measured. The past is the past; dwelling on it is pointless. Now that he has reached this stage, there is no need for haste, as haste only brings complications and the possibility of disaster.

"This is really troublesome," Persephone sighed, leaning her head on her hand, her hair cascading as if reflecting her frustration.

Eris, deep in thought, suggested softly, "My Lord, perhaps we could take advantage of the potential upheaval in the Sea of Chaos to… select potential candidates? Or perhaps…"

She hesitated, knowing that even she didn't fully understand what would happen in the Sea of Chaos. However, she was aware it would be a massive opportunity, one that could bring unprecedented advancement to any deity who seized it.

And this opportunity extended even to the Absolute Gods—beings unparalleled within the Sea of Chaos. Yet, who could say for certain that the Absolute Gods are the pinnacle? Above them, there may yet exist levels and realms unknown, as if the very hierarchy of gods is an infinite cycle, with endless new paths ahead.

For all gods, this upheaval represents an opportunity, not only for gods but also for dark gods and outer gods. The once-peaceful Sea of Chaos is now brimming with change, and where it will lead, no one can say.

Persephone reflected on this. "The situation in the Sea of Chaos is unpredictable; it's impossible to know what lies ahead. What do you think, my love?"

"We cannot know for sure," Hades replied calmly. "I only have some insights about what might occur in the Sea of Chaos. However, until it actually happens, it remains only speculation."

His tone was unshaken. Hades knew all too well that opportunity often walks hand in hand with danger. The anticipation of opportunity shouldn't overshadow caution, for that way lies ruin. The gods who lacked this awareness were, to Hades, courting disaster.

After a brief pause, Hades said, "For the Underworld, establishing a connection to the next mythic world is more pressing. Eris, is everything progressing well in that regard?"

"Yes," Eris replied with a sharp, attentive expression. "I've dispatched Underworld gods to investigate. Based on the initial reports, this mythic world appears… highly unusual. But a full assessment requires further study."

"Is it still unclear which mythic world it is?" Persephone asked.

Eris nodded. "Yes, my Lady. The number of deities within this mythic world is… extraordinary. From what I can tell, the number of deities exceeds that of the Greek Pantheon by several times, maybe even more."

Persephone frowned slightly. "A mythic world with so many deities? That seems impossible."

A mythic world can only sustain so much. That's why powerful gods, like Kronos and Hades, were expelled once they reached the Ancient God level. The world simply cannot bear the weight of too many powerful beings. So how could there be so many deities?

Persephone couldn't quite understand it, but Hades, pondering Eris's words, felt he might know which mythic world it was. "Eris, continue gathering information on this mythic world," he instructed. "Pay special attention to its Underworld."

"Yes, my Lord." Eris's eyes flashed with understanding. She had a sense that Hades knew more than he was letting on, but since he hadn't chosen to reveal it, she wouldn't press further. She left to carry out her duties.

Hades mused aloud, "Persephone, we shall wait patiently. I am also quite curious how Poseidon, Pollux, and Athena are preparing."

The so-called "Holy War"? Well, things have deviated so far that the concept is almost irrelevant. Hades's plans, though advanced, remained incomplete. His original scheme to address the Seven Sins of Humanity was still in its early stages, and he recognized that this grand design would have to adapt to changing circumstances.

"Poseidon, Pollux, and Athena…" Persephone considered this carefully. There was much to anticipate, and these events needed thorough deliberation.

Hades was in no rush, patiently watching and contemplating the outcomes for his opponents. To him, having fellow gods advance alongside him was less about cultivating rivals and more about creating company for the journey ahead. The path of a god could be lonely, and walking it with others made it all the more engaging.

Suddenly, both Hades and Persephone fell silent and turned toward the same direction.

From afar, something was stirring.

Hades's lips curved into a rare smile. "Charon… so you are indeed the first Underworld Warrior to reach this level. I look forward to seeing where your journey will take you."

God-King!

The unmistakable aura of a God-King began reverberating throughout the Underworld.

For a moment, the Underworld gods were stunned. What was happening? They couldn't believe it. Could it be that a new God-King had emerged?

But… how was that possible? The Underworld already had many God-Kings.

There were the core God-Kings with specific dominions:

The Primordial Gods of Stars and Seas: Aether, Hemera, and Europa.

The Gods of Sky and Earth: Hypnos and Thanatos.

The Gods of Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind: Ba'al, Behemoth, Astaroth, and Asmodeus.

These nine possessed unique offices and authority within the Underworld. Additionally, there were six other God-Kings, including Mephistopheles, Sparta, Eris, Keres, and Carl, each with distinct origins and purposes.

Counting them all, the Underworld already had fifteen God-Kings—a terrifying number by any standard.

But now, another God-King's aura was emerging, and none of the gods could explain it. Yet as the divine power resonated throughout the Underworld, its unique signature soon became unmistakable.

It was the aura of an Underworld Warrior.

In that instant, every god realized what this signified. The 108 Underworld Warriors were Hades's own elite guard, his loyal soldiers. Now, one among them had ascended to God-Kinghood. Charon had been the first to step into this exalted realm.

This represented something else as well. As Hades advanced, so too did the Underworld Warriors.
