Chapter 20: You Guys, Hurry Up and Evolve!
Seeing Biomerge Quetzalmon, who had been so intimidating just moments ago, now crashing into the park, the Digimon and humans in the food market all let out sighs of relief before erupting into cheers.
"She won!"
"Ohhh!"
"That's our Boss!"
Then, they saw Moss pull back her bowstring, balancing on one leg as she unleashed her Holy Arrow.
"She's going for the finishing blow!"
Everyone watched with bated breath.
Unlike Heaven's Cross, which had a broad attack radius, Holy Arrow had a terrifying piercing effect.
While Biomerge Quetzalmon was powerful, it didn't have any regeneration abilities—once it was pierced by Holy Arrow, it would be finished.
BOOM!
Just as the attack was about to hit, a golden bolt of lightning shot down from the sky.
It was lightning's radiance!
With an earth-shaking roar, the golden lightning struck Holy Arrow, scattering it into golden and white electrical currents that spread in all directions.
The sky was completely clear, without a single cloud in sight. Where had this lightning come from?
Everyone looked up to see a massive blue bird hovering in the air, its body occasionally crackling with electricity.
"Ah! It's him!" Astamon cried out in shock.
The reporter turned to him and asked, "What is that?"
"Thunderbirdmon!" Astamon shuddered as he spoke.
It was this Thunderbirdmon that had defeated him and led to his capture by Kurata.
The difference in strength was obvious, but that wasn't what truly scared Astamon—it was the fact that Thunderbirdmon had been completely unaffected by his Demonic Kiss.
Normally, Demonic Kiss could drain the fighting spirit of anyone who got hit, making even the strongest warriors lose their will to fight.
But for Thunderbirdmon, it had done absolutely nothing.
His will to fight was endless.
This terrifying, battle-hungry will made Astamon feel fear from the depths of his soul.
"Biomerge Thunderbirdmon."
Moss identified the true form of the new arrival.
Much like Quetzalmon, Thunderbirdmon was originally an Armor-level Digimon—essentially equivalent to the Champion level.
However, after undergoing the Biomerge transformation, this Thunderbirdmon's power had surged, surpassing most ordinary Ultimate-level Digimon!
Its appearance had changed as well—its helmet had turned red, and on the back of its head was a large syringe-like container.
That injection canister was the greatest trademark of Biomerge Digimon!
And since it was a Biomerge Digimon, that meant its true controller was another Digimon Hunter—one of Kurata's men, Sein.
This was bad.
If Sein was here, then the third Digimon Hunter might not be far behind.
This was Moss's biggest concern.
At her current level, defeating one Digimon Hunter was already exhausting.
If all three showed up, things would turn into a complete disaster.
She might have to use her emergency backup power stored inside her Holy Ring…
That was her last trump card—something she couldn't afford to reveal unless there was no other option.
Although the situation was turning dire, it still wasn't at its absolute worst.
…But where the hell was DATS?!
Moss hadn't done this livestream because she actually wanted to talk to the Prime Minister—she had done it to lure out DATS!
Yet DATS still wasn't here, and now the Digimon Hunters had arrived instead.
No, actually, that wasn't quite right.
It wasn't the livestream that had lured the Digimon Hunters here—Kurata would have sent them after her regardless.
Even without the livestream, they would have tracked her down anyway.
From that perspective, the livestream was still a success in attracting DATS.
Meanwhile, in the air, Biomerge Quetzalmon finally recovered and looked toward Biomerge Thunderbirdmon.
"What are you doing here?"
She had personally accepted this job—why was Sein interfering?
The three Digimon Hunters might be "colleagues," but there was no friendship between them.
They actively despised one another.
As a self-proclaimed genius, Nanami was particularly arrogant and would never feel grateful just because someone saved her.
Biomerge Thunderbirdmon let out a cold chuckle, keeping his sharp eyes locked onto Moss.
"Is that how you treat your savior, princess?"
If Moss moved to attack now, she would have to face both of them at once.
Not to mention… what if the third hunter was nearby?
That would be checkmate.
This was what worried Moss the most.
Would she really have to go all-out right here?
Just then…
The sound of screeching tires echoed through the streets.
A DATS police vehicle finally arrived at the scene.
The doors swung open, and three humans along with a Digimon stepped out.
It was Marcus Damon, Thomas H. Norstein, Yoshino Fujieda, and Agumon S.
"Oh? These are your reinforcements?" Biomerge Thunderbirdmon sneered.
Agumon S growled, "Boss, he's looking down on us!"
Marcus Damon clenched his fists, his forehead veins bulging in anger.
"YOU'VE GOT SOME NERVE, BASTARD!"
Meanwhile, Thomas and Yoshino exchanged glances.
There were a lot of Digimon here.
At first, they weren't sure who to fight.
Now, there was no doubt—Biomerge Thunderbirdmon was priority number one.
Both of them activated their Digisoul, causing their partners to Digivolve to Champion level.
"Gaomon, Digivolve to… Gaogamon!"
"Lalamon, Digivolve to… Sunflowmon!"
A massive blue wolf and a giant sunflower monster took their battle stances.
But in an instant—
"Thunderstorm!"
Biomerge Thunderbirdmon flapped its massive wings.
A violent storm erupted, carrying bolts of lightning that crashed down on Gaogamon and Sunflowmon, sending them flying ten meters away.
"Gaogamon!"
"Sunflowmon!"
Both Thomas and Yoshino were shocked, calling out to their partners in worry.
Neither of them expected such an overwhelming power gap.
They had barely even engaged before getting blasted back.
Although Gaogamon and Sunflowmon struggled to stand, the electric shock had already paralyzed them.
Biomerge Thunderbirdmon laughed.
"Hahaha! Pathetic little rookies, that's all you've got?"
"DAMN IT!" Marcus Damon clenched his fists in rage.
Unlike Thomas and Yoshino, he couldn't activate Digisoul Burst at will—he had to punch something to trigger it.
Which meant…
Right now, he could only watch.
Moss yelled to Thomas and Yoshino, "Keep evolving! Only an Ultimate-level Digimon can fight him!"
The two of them froze.
"Ultimate level?"
But they couldn't do that yet.
Seeing their hesitation, Moss immediately understood.
So that's it… This is still early in the storyline.
Meanwhile, Biomerge Thunderbirdmon turned to Moss.
"You're next."
Another Thunderstorm loomed overhead.
The battlefield was about to be consumed by lightning and chaos.
