I Became a Digimon and Change Worlds Every Month

Chapter 23: Moss – There Is No Angel Kinder Than Me

The DATS headquarters was entirely white, giving off a distinctly futuristic feel—just like the kind of base often seen in sci-fi works.

Tonight, the command room was livelier than ever.

In addition to the usual members, there were Moss, Astamon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, Kunemon, and Sei, the unconscious Digimon Hunter.

Even Commander Hashiba, who rarely came down from his office, had shown up in person!

Commander Hashiba eyed Moss, rubbing his hands together with a humble expression as he smiled and asked,"Are you the ambassador of the Digital World?"

"What do you think?"

Moss casually replied while pulling a chair over, sitting down with her right leg crossed over her left.

Her demeanor was relaxed, as if she had made herself completely at home in the DATS command center.

Astamon and Goblimon stood to her left, while Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, and Kunemon were to her right, resembling a group of bodyguards.

Masaru Daimon, Tōma, Yoshino, and the others exchanged glances.

Now back in its Rookie form, Kudamon—coiled around Captain Satsuma's shoulder—spoke up:"There's no such thing as an ambassador in the Digital World."

Moss wasn't the least bit embarrassed at being exposed. She simply chuckled and said,"While the Digital World does possess advanced technology and immense power, its society is still in a tribal state. Naturally, there are no ambassadors."

Kudamon frowned. Was that meant to be sarcasm?

Even if it was true…

Commander Hashiba had been skeptical from the start. But upon hearing that the Digital World had no ambassadors, he finally let go of the lingering hope in his heart.

If Moss really had been a Digital World ambassador, then the consequences wouldn't be his responsibility.

But since she wasn't… he was the one who had to take the blame for this mess.

Commander Hashiba straightened his posture, growing more furious the more he thought about it. He snapped,"Do you have any idea how much trouble your reckless actions have caused me?!"

The existence of Digimon was supposed to be a secret. If only one or two people had seen them, DATS could simply erase their memories with special devices.

But tonight, the chase between Moss and Biomeric Thunderbirmon had covered far too large an area. There were too many eyewitnesses. Even with memory-erasing technology, it was impossible to keep the existence of Digimon a secret anymore.

This would seriously impact his political career!

Moss let out a soft chuckle and said,"If it's too much trouble, you can always resign. There are plenty of others who can take your place."

"You—!" Commander Hashiba choked on his words, immediately losing his momentum.

I just wanted to vent a little! Was that really necessary?

Clearing his throat and pretending nothing had happened, Commander Hashiba turned to Captain Satsuma and said,"I still have follow-up matters to deal with. These Digimon are now your responsibility, Captain Satsuma."

Captain Satsuma nodded.

With a huff, Commander Hashiba clasped his hands behind his back and left the DATS command center.

As soon as the doors closed, a few crisp chuckles rang out.

Everyone turned to look—Miki Kurosaki and Megumi Shirakawa, the DATS operators.

One had long purple hair, the other short blonde hair.

Since they had joined DATS earlier than Masaru Daimon, Tōma, and Yoshino, they were more familiar with Commander Hashiba—and had been subjected to his nitpicking plenty of times.

Seeing their overbearing superior humiliated like that was undeniably satisfying.

Captain Satsuma cleared his throat, restoring order to the room.

Then he turned to Moss and said,"Angewomon, you are quite a unique Digimon."

Moss smiled."No need to state the obvious."

Captain Satsuma fell silent for a moment before speaking again."You called yourself an ambassador, but in reality, you were trying to draw out DATS, weren't you?"

Moss glanced around the room and said,"I'm not familiar with this world. Finding this place wasn't exactly easy."

Not familiar?

Captain Satsuma wasn't convinced. But instead of dwelling on it, he continued,"Why were you looking for us?"

Moss replied simply,"It's quite straightforward. We want to return to the Digital World."

At this, Astamon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, Kunemon, and the others all turned expectantly toward Captain Satsuma.

The human world was terrifying. They just wanted to go home!

Captain Satsuma remained silent. Instead, Kudamon, still on his shoulder, spoke up:"Any Digimon that has caused chaos in the human world must return as a DigiEgg."

Moss asked,"Why?"

Kudamon answered,"Those who break the rules must face consequences."

Moss chuckled."That makes sense. But what if we were captured and brought here against our will?"

"Captured?"

Kudamon was stunned.

Masaru Daimon, Tōma, Yoshino, Captain Satsuma, Miki Kurosaki, and Megumi Shirakawa all showed expressions of shock.

Until now, DATS had only ever encountered Digimon that accidentally ended up in the human world.

This was the first time they had heard of Digimon being forcibly taken from the Digital World.

But… who had the ability to do that?

Moss pointed at Sei, who was still unconscious."It was them. The Digimon Hunters."

"Them?"

"Yes. They hunt Digimon."

Moss walked over to Sei, giving his stomach a light kick."You're already awake, aren't you? If you keep pretending to be unconscious, I'll make sure you never wake up again."

Sei slowly opened his eyes, glaring at Moss with pure hatred."Bitch! Get away from me!"

Moss simply smiled, lifting her left foot and pressing it down on Sei's abdomen.

She twisted her heel counterclockwise, aiming the one-centimeter heel of her shoe at a very specific spot just below his navel.

Moss smiled."If I press down just a little harder… what do you think will happen?"

Sei's face instantly turned pale. Sweat poured down his forehead."Y-You… You…!"

Masaru Daimon and Tōma were dumbfounded. Even Captain Satsuma's pupils contracted.

Meanwhile, Agumon S, Gaomon, and the other Digimon looked completely clueless.

But Yoshino, Miki Kurosaki, and Megumi Shirakawa all had… rather knowing expressions.

Moss continued,"Three…"

"No, wait!" Sei cried out, all his previous bravado gone.

Moss smiled."Two."

Sei immediately caved."I'm sorry! I was just being loud! Ask me anything—you want the truth? I'll tell you everything!"

Moss laughed softly and withdrew her foot.

Sei exhaled in relief, as if he had narrowly escaped death.

"You… are you really an angel?" Kudamon muttered, at a loss for words.

Moss smiled sweetly."Of course! I'm a genuine Cyber Angel."

As she spoke, she stretched her wings.

Her eight shining wings were softer and more flexible than those of any other Angewomon. When extended, they gleamed like radiant feathers; when lowered, they draped around her like a cloak.

Placing a hand over her heart, Moss declared,"There is no angel kinder than me."

Kudamon fell silent.

…You really don't understand what 'kindness' means, do you?
