I Became a Digimon and Change Worlds Every Month

Chapter 26: Digimon Are Mysterious, Aren’t They?

A new mutation evolution had appeared, and as soon as its name popped up, Moss's gaze locked onto it.

[Cyberdramon: 1%]

Moss blinked in surprise.

There's an old saying in the Digimon world—"All Beasts Emerge from Botamon, All Vaccines Come from Agumon."

It means that Botamon can evolve into most Digimon species, and Agumon can evolve into most Vaccine-type Digimon.

In other words, Digivolution isn't a single locked path—it's a vast web of possibilities.

What a Digimon ultimately becomes is unpredictable.

Even so, Moss never expected her Angewomon form to have any connection to Cyberdramon.

"Could it be because the magic had both Dragon attributes and Lightning attributes?"

But wait—lightning and electronic energy aren't the same thing, are they?

"Cyberdramon… and it's an Ultimate-level Digimon too."

Moss stared at this new evolution path, feeling like it was too bland to be exciting, but too rare to discard.

Angewomon commented, "Looks like even after absorbing Dragon Slayer Magic, reaching Ultimate is still too difficult."

Moss understood.

It's like a mediocre high school student dreaming of getting into Harvard or Oxford—dreams are great, but if you don't have the ability or the right timing, a dream is just a dream.

"Fallen Evolution is definitely the most efficient path."

Other evolution routes were too hard to achieve.

Moss figured she should first unlock all the Fallen Evolutions, then explore other evolution paths later.

So, she opened the Fallen Evolution tab to check her progress on LadyDevimon.

[LadyDevimon: 1%]

No increase at all.

It was still the same as when it first appeared.

Moss thought to herself:

"Maybe today is my lucky day. Even if it's only 1%, I might still get LadyDevimon on a single pull!"

Better to test it than to overthink it.

Once the numbness from her previous attempt faded, Moss hopped off the bed and stood up.

"Digisoul Charge—Activate!"

She ignited her Digisoul and slammed it into her abdomen.

Just like before—

A shadowy figure appeared above her, representing one of her possible evolutions.

Garbagemon, Garbagemon, Garbagemon…Numemon, Numemon, Numemon…

Although these Digimon were an important part of the Digital World's ecosystem, to Moss, they were failed evolutions—useless.

Out of today's ten evolution attempts, nine resulted in these failure Digimon.

The last one? Zombieman Satan Mode—but she already had it.

Drawing it again did nothing for her.

"I have blonde hair and blue eyes, yet I'm still not lucky?!"

Wait… there are blonde-haired, blue-eyed people in South Africa too.

Tch!

Moss clicked her tongue.

Clearly, her appearance alone wasn't enough to fool fate.

"By the way, I was trying to pull a Mutation Evolution, but I ended up with a Fallen Evolution instead.

Could it be… that the pools are mixed together?"

This wasn't good.

It meant her chances of getting failure Digimon were higher.

Angewomon analyzed, "The more evolution paths we unlock, the more chaotic our internal data becomes, increasing the likelihood of Garbagemon or Numemon evolution. It makes sense."

In other words—too many options make everything unstable.

Moss let out a long sigh.

"Looks like I need to be more careful when adding new evolution possibilities."

Angewomon tried to comfort her, "We can still increase the probability of a specific evolution through certain actions.

We usually call this process 'training.'"

Moss thought for a moment.

"I already helped Astamon and the others find a safe place. That's a good deed—so shouldn't my chances of evolving into Seraphimon or Sanzomon have increased?"

But when she checked—there was no change.

Angewomon pondered for a bit, then suggested, "Try giving up all sinful desires. That might completely eliminate your Fallen Evolution paths."

Moss fell silent.

"…Any other ideas?"

Angewomon had expected this response and sighed.

"Alright… how about reading Buddhist scriptures?

Sanzomon is associated with Buddhism, so maybe studying scriptures could serve as material for evolution."

Moss nodded. "Makes sense… I wonder if tapping an electronic wooden fish would add to my merit?"

She considered the plan but had to postpone it.

She had no scriptures on hand—nor a wooden fish.

Also… would just reading the Buddhist texts work?

Or would she have to understand them?

That would be… too difficult.

Feeling helpless, she turned to the TV.

Then—a new idea struck her.

She dialed DATS headquarters and called Shirakawa Kei, who was on night duty.

"Miss Angewomon, do you need something?" Shirakawa asked.

Even Angewomon was curious—what was Moss planning?

Moss asked directly:

"Do you have any Buddhist scriptures?"

"Eh?" Shirakawa was stunned.

You're an angel, but instead of reading the Bible, you're asking for Buddhist texts?

Are you changing faiths?!

Shirakawa forced a smile.

"Sorry, but we don't have those here."

Moss pointed at the TV.

"Then open the premium channels for me."

Shirakawa's breath hitched—she thought she misheard.

She stared at Moss and asked cautiously,

"Miss Angewomon… do you know what's on the premium channels?"

Moss nodded.

"Of course. It's evolution material."

Shirakawa sucked in a sharp breath and took a step back.

"Are you… serious?"

Moss countered, "Do I look like I'm joking?"

Shirakawa stared at Moss.

Even with only half of her face visible, she was undeniably beautiful.

Her flawless, porcelain-white skin looked so soft that Shirakawa, for a brief moment, had the impulse to take a bite.

Most importantly—Moss was serious.

Shirakawa couldn't argue.

So—she enabled the premium channels.

As the screen filled with… provocative imagery, Shirakawa's gaze became hazy.

"…Can this really be used as evolution material?"

At first, she thought Moss was converting to Buddhism.

But no—she was falling into darkness!

Is this really Angewomon?!

Shirakawa felt dizzy.

Everything she thought she knew about Digimon was falling apart.

Moss chuckled.

"Digimon are mysterious, aren't they?"

"..."

"Wanna watch together?"

"…No thanks. I have work to do."

Shirakawa's cheeks flushed, but she quickly composed herself and returned to work.

"Such a dedicated worker."

Moss sighed in admiration, then turned back to the TV.

Strangely…

She felt nothing.

Her tolerance for Angewomon's form had skyrocketed, and to her, the content on screen was…

Mediocre.

She was hotter.

Clearly, this wasn't enough to trigger evolution.

…Wait.

Suddenly—

Moss noticed that LadyDevimon's evolution rate had increased.

[LadyDevimon: 2%]

…Was Angewomon's mindset changing?

The corruption had begun.
