I Have A Dual World Seal

Chapter 188: Perform a Piece

This time, there was no trouble from Liu Yifan, so the two of them enjoyed a quiet meal.

Chatting as they ate, time quickly passed until it was after seven. It was getting dark outside, and the lights began to twinkle. The water reflected the starlight as boats traveled back and forth. The spring breeze blew softly, and the charming girls were already wearing their skirts.

Lu Zheng cut the last piece of steak on his plate and put it in his mouth, giving Lin Wan a slight smile as he rose to his full height.

Lin Wan rested one hand on the table and the other on her chin, looking at Lu Zheng with anticipation as he walked towards the center stage of the restaurant.

...

"Sir."

As Lu Zheng approached the stage, a waiter hurried over from the side, "Sir, is there anything you need help with?"

"Nothing, I just want to play a piece," Lu Zheng smiled and shook his head, nodding towards the piano on the stage.

The waiter's expression changed and he hurried to stop him, "I'm sorry sir, this piano is just for display and not open to guests."

"Hmm?" Lu Zheng frowned, "Wasn't it available last time?"

"Ah?" The waiter blinked, scrutinizing Lu Zheng again, "Are you a friend of the owner?"

Saying this, he glanced towards the other side.

Following the waiter's gaze, Lu Zheng saw a man in his fifties at the bar, chatting with two companions.

The man seemed to sense the gaze from Lu Zheng and the waiter, glanced over briefly, but showed no sign of acknowledgment, turning back to his conversation.

Just from that glance, the waiter knew that the young man did not know the owner, so he repeated, "I'm sorry sir, this piano is just for display and not open to guests."

Lu Zheng smacked his lips and suddenly asked, "What's your boss like?"

The waiter blinked, "He's quite nice!"

"That's good!" Lu Zheng nodded, "Go back to work."

The waiter, not understanding, heard Lu Zheng say this and watched as the young man turned his head to leave and returned to his seat. Bewildered, he shook his head, heard a call of "waiter" from another table, and hurried over with a smile.

...

Kidding, he promised to play at least three pieces for Lin Wan, so how could Lu Zheng be dismissed by a waiter?

Thus, with a small illusion technique, the waiter saw Lu Zheng leaving, while he lightly sidestepped, walking past the waiter with nimble steps, he reached the stage and approached the piano.

He first bowed to Lin Wan with a hand over his chest, making a gentleman's salute, then he sat down in front of the piano amid the expectant and curious gazes throughout the room, his fingertips brushing lightly over the keys from left to right.

"Hmm?"

On the other side, the restaurant owner also noticed what was happening here, momentarily stunned and frowning, but Lu Zheng was already seated at the piano, so he couldn't stop him.

"Sanders, is that young man also your friend?" a companion chatting with him asked.

"No," Sanders shook his head, "I don't know why the waiter didn't stop him."

"Just as well, let's see how skilled his piano playing is," another companion laughed, "After all, if he dares to play in public, he should be quite skilled, not to mention..."

"He also has a beautiful lady companion," the first companion kindly smiled, "It's a peacock spreading its feathers moment, and I suppose that is why the waiter didn't stop him."

"Perhaps, let's hope his piano skills are decent, otherwise my Louis XVI might gather some dust," Sanders said helplessly while signaling the staff to pause the restaurant's music.

...

The music from the restaurant's speakers gradually stopped. Lu Zheng nodded politely at Sanders and gently pressed a key.

"Ding dong—ding dong—"

It was still the "Schubert's Serenade" from last time, with its gentle moonlight, flowing stream, chirping insects, and singing nightingales.

Lin Wan looked at Lu Zheng, her eyes gradually becoming entranced.

The conversation in the restaurant gradually quieted until it vanished, as everyone turned to Lu Zheng, silently enjoying.

Sanders' expression changed from initial surprise to relief, finally settling into a smile, as he and his two companions sat quietly, relishing the performance.

When the piece ended, the room was silent for three seconds before applause began to rise.

Lu Zheng nodded and bowed, then winked at Lin Wan, his fingers moving lightly, starting to play the piano again.

"Ding dong—ding dong—"

Chopin's "Nocturne in E-flat Major", bright and beautiful, serene and enduring, fluid and songlike, full of poetic emotion.

The restaurant fell silent once more.

...

"He's a pianist," Sanders' first companion sighed, "I never thought we'd hear two pieces by an excellent pianist just by coming to have a chat with you."

"Pierre, isn't it a bit much to call him a pianist directly?" the second companion said, "Although he plays very well, these two pieces don't exactly showcase his professional level."

The first companion shook his head, "Todd, you've been out of the professional domain for too long; this is an ailment—he plays so comfortably. His level is very high."

The next moment, after a brief pause as the applause died down, the piano music started again.

"Ding dong—ding dong—"

"It's Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp Minor'," Pierre's eyes lit up, telling Todd, "You can gauge his true skill now."

Todd and Sanders focused their eyes on Lu Zheng, listening intently.

Lin Wan was both surprised and delighted, feeling a few slightly hostile gazes directed her way. She straightened her back and sat up gracefully, appearing radiant.

...

Once the piece ended, the restaurant erupted in thunderous applause. Lu Zheng stood up, slightly bowed to the audience, and responded to the greetings of the restaurant's guests as he walked back.

"Sir, have some water."

Just as Lu Zheng sat down, a female waiter hurried over, bringing a new cup and pouring him a glass of lemon water.

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome!" The female waiter's eyes gleamed as she retreated.

Lu Zheng raised an eyebrow at Lin Wan, who retorted, "Show off!"

"Understood, you mean succeeding in life and being in harmony with you," Lu Zheng said earnestly.

"Oh, wow, using idioms is impressive, huh?" Lin Wan teased.

"Yes, I've researched a lot about ancient times," Lu Zheng nodded, suddenly asking, "I remember you bought a set of Hanfu online?"

Lin Wan gritted her teeth, "Don't even think about it. Mine is a serious Hanfu!"

Lu Zheng nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, you're right. But can I see it when we get back?"

Lin Wan gritted her teeth again, but... wasn't this Hanfu bought to be worn and shown to her boyfriend? She had bought more than just this one set, after all.

Just as the two prepared to leave, a slightly odd-accented Mandarin voice sounded next to them, "Hello, sir. May I introduce myself? I'm the owner of this restaurant, Nova Sanders."
