I Have a Girlfriend in Marvel

Chapter 109: Call Me Uncle Secretary of the Red Shield Branch

To be honest, as someone with multiple girlfriends and a "fish pond" master, Su Ye's acting skills were decent. Competing in the film industry and vying for the Oscars might be a stretch, but fooling Max Dillon in front of him was no problem.

Max Dillon shook his head. "I'm not sure either. I got electrocuted and then fell... When I woke up, I felt very weak, so I went outside. Before I could figure out what was going on, they threw smoke grenades at me and even shot at me!"

Max Dillon's voice was tinged with grievance. From his perspective, he truly hadn't done anything wrong.

The accident wasn't his intention. Feeling weak and instinctively going out to find supplies wasn't his fault either.

From start to finish, he never had any intention of hurting anyone—not even a little.

But the police attacked him without asking any questions, so he naturally had to defend himself, which led to everything that followed.

At that moment, Max Dillon really wanted to shout, "Officer! I'm innocent!"

Even though he had just killed so many people, Max Dillon's mindset was still pretty pathetic at heart.

Unfortunately, the real officers wouldn't care whether he was innocent, nor would they pay attention to what he had to say.

Max Dillon's ultimate fate would be to be sent to a lab, placed on an operating table, dissected, and studied—just to provide some material for scientific research or the military's super-soldier program.

During this time, someone might even break into the prison, secretly help him escape, and use his powers to stir up trouble.

In the movies, the one who did this was Harry—the second Harry who caused Gwen's death—not the Harry Su Ye knew now, who despite hating Spider-Man, ultimately took a blade for him as the first-generation Harry.

In this world, under Su Ye's influence, Harry had grown differently. He was no longer the little Green Goblin who turned evil to avenge his father, so he naturally wouldn't help someone escape from prison.

However, the Joker was another story.

As the embodiment of pure evil, the Joker sought nothing but the collapse of systems and the chaos of order.

Max Dillon, whose power was strong enough to cause losses for both the police and the military, was obviously a perfect tool for the Joker.

Even if Max Dillon's power was too great for the Joker, an ordinary human, to suppress physically, it didn't matter.

The Joker never relied on power to control others; he used schemes and manipulation of people's hearts.

Max Dillon's significant character flaws were enough for the Joker to sell him out—and still have him happily help count the money.

For a brief moment, Su Ye actually considered leaving Max Dillon alone and throwing him to the Joker, just to see how much destruction their combination could bring to New York.

But after some thought, he decided against it. Max Dillon's destructive power was just too great. Leaving him out in the open could lead to uncontrollable events. What if he hurt Gwen, Mai Shiranui, Sharon, or Hinata?

Su Ye couldn't exactly create a clone to follow Max Dillon around all day.

Therefore, Su Ye figured the safest approach was to recruit Max Dillon as his subordinate. Besides, during the upcoming battle in New York, there was one thing only Max Dillon could do.

So, after listening to Max's complaints, Su Ye nodded seriously.

"I understand. You're not without fault in this, but it's not entirely your fault. Don't worry, I'll find a way to help you and won't let you suffer unjust accusations!"

Beside him, Sharon nodded firmly, completing her role as a secretary with excellence.

Sharon Carter had long given herself a strong psychological suggestion.

Whatever the boss says is right.

If the boss is wrong, refer to the previous rule.

This mental suggestion was originally intended to help her better fit the secretary role, win Su Ye's favor, and ultimately pull him into S.H.I.E.L.D. and the U.S. faction.

However, as they spent more time together and Su Ye demonstrated his dominance in various ways—including his driving skills—Sharon gradually started treating these two suggestions as truth.

The one who initially wanted to steal someone away didn't even realize when they themselves got stolen.

Meanwhile, the two agents on the side looked utterly dumbfounded.

Whose side is Wusheng even on? They just finished fighting, and now he's trying to clear the opponent's name? What is this, crocodile tears?

Maybe Wusheng just wanted to stabilize this blue man to extract more valuable information.

In the end, the two could only come up with this excuse for Su Ye in their minds.

However, what they never expected was that Su Ye would directly instruct Sharon to make a call.

"Call Coulson. No, wait, call Fury. Let's handle the main issue first."

"Yes, boss!" Sharon took out her phone, quickly dialed Fury's number, and respectfully handed the phone to Su Ye.

This scene once again left the two agents dumbfounded.

Su Ye nonchalantly took the phone and said, "Hello, Director Fury. The mission is complete. Any more words from Old Pierce?"

Old Pierce—Alexander Pierce—had previously said that as long as Su Ye quickly resolved the Max Dillon incident and prevented further escalation, he would sign the document for establishing the Red Shield Branch. Now, it was time to make good on that promise.

On the other end, Nick Fury didn't mince words. "You don't need to worry about Pierce. Regardless of his excuses, the Red Shield Branch establishment document is already in effect. Congratulations, Director Su."

"Thank you, then," Su Ye said with a smile.

"However, there's a little issue with the title. According to our tradition, the head of the Red Shield Branch isn't called a director but an Uncle Secretary. So, from now on, don't call me Director—call me Uncle Secretary instead…"

At this point, Su Ye suddenly felt something was off. "Bah! Let's drop the 'Secretary.' Keep it civilized—just call me Uncle. Su Uncle or Uncle Ye, either works!"

"Su Uncle? Uncle Ye?" Nick Fury repeated, indifferent. "Whatever makes you happy. Anything else?"

"Of course, it's about a member of our Red Shield Branch…" Su Ye said, covering the phone's microphone and looking at Max Dillon.

"Old Max, my current role is the head of the Red Shield Branch, a department under S.H.I.E.L.D. directly affiliated with the United Nations' International Security Council. Let me ask you: would you like to join our Red Shield Branch and work with me to protect the Earth and maintain world peace?"

Beside him, Sharon offered an encouraging look. The two agents nearby were stunned, and Max Dillon's blue face froze in complete shock.

"Me? Join that… whatever…" Max Dillon stammered.

Sharon quickly explained, "The Red Shield Branch, a department directly under the United Nations. Its mission is to protect Earth's stability and maintain world peace!"

"I'm the second member of the department, after the boss. If you join now, you'll be a founding member and enjoy a range of founding member benefits!"

"So, Mr. Dillon, would you like to join us and become a hero who protects the world?"

This time, it was Su Ye's turn to grin. Founding member, my foot. Are we opening a gym? Would you like to check out our swimming and fitness facilities?

Meanwhile, Max Dillon was almost collapsing. Of everything Sharon said, the only word he heard was "hero."

"Can I become a hero? Even though I just…"

Max Dillon hesitated. After killing so many officers and soldiers, did he even qualify to be a hero?

Sharon nodded confidently. "If the boss says you qualify, then you qualify!"

"Then I'll join!" Max Dillon replied without hesitation. "Snake, I…"

Su Ye shook his head. "My name is Su Ye. Snake was just a fake identity I used during my internship at Oscorp. I lied to you before, and I apologize."

"It's fine, it's fine. I understand, totally understand," Max Dillon nodded quickly.

"Then it's settled," Su Ye said with a smile, picking up the phone to continue speaking to Nick Fury, who had been waiting.

"Director Fury, I am now formally lodging a serious protest with New York regarding my Red Shield Branch member being unjustly attacked by the NYPD and military in Times Square."

"I demand a reasonable explanation from the NYPD and military, along with a public statement on whether this incident involved racial discrimination."

"If I don't get a satisfactory response, the Red Shield Branch will cease all collaboration with New York. The world is vast; we won't limit ourselves to one place."

On the other end, Nick Fury was completely stunned.

Was he not fully awake, or was Su Ye on the other side dreaming?

The entire incident tonight had already been broadcast live, and anyone who watched the full version knew exactly what happened.

Can you really blame the police for this? Their duty is to maintain public order, identify suspicious individuals, and try to subdue them. That's not wrong, is it?

If there's any fault, it lies in this suspicious individual being overly sensitive and reactive, with power so great that it led to a chain of subsequent events.

The most troublesome part is that this suspicious individual is now a member of the Red Shield Branch—essentially a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent—and a superhuman with formidable abilities.

This left Nick Fury in a dilemma: should he uphold the justice and authority of the police and military or protect his powerful subordinate?

With Abomination and Max Dillon, plus Su Ye, Iron Man, Green Armor Man, Spider-Man, Batman, and some fillers like Hawkeye and Black Widow, the lineup for this Superhero Alliance would be quite impressive.

Moreover, Su Ye had raised a concern that Fury had to seriously consider: if this issue wasn't resolved, the Red Shield Branch would withdraw from New York.

Although New York wasn't the only city in America, Nick Fury had an inexplicable feeling that letting the Red Shield Branch withdraw from New York would be a very unwise move.

In the end, Nick Fury sighed, "I'll see what I can do."

That one sentence from Nick Fury was enough.

Su Ye wasn't aiming to force the NYPD or military into a public apology or admission of guilt. All he wanted was to protect Max Dillon.

Fury probably understood Su Ye's intentions. Since he agreed, he would help protect Max Dillon.

"All set!" Su Ye hung up and smiled at Max Dillon, who was still standing in his containment.

"Old Max, from today onwards, your past is behind you. From now on, you're a superhero protecting world peace. Are you ready to join us and embrace a bright new future?"

Hearing Su Ye say "us," Sharon immediately straightened her posture, feeling proud and giving an encouraging look.

Max Dillon had never been looked at by such a stunning woman, let alone received encouragement from one. If he weren't restrained, he might have dropped to his knees on the spot, bowing to Su Ye and shouting, "My lord!"
