I Have a Girlfriend in Marvel

Chapter 110: Red Alert: Guardians of the Great Wall

The matter with Max was settled. From now on, he no longer had to return to Oscorp as a humiliated electrical engineer or be a prisoner locked in a dark, custom-built water cell.

Instead, he could directly join the Red Shield Branch and become a hero admired for protecting the Earth.

Thinking about this, Max grinned so widely that the gap between his front teeth seemed to grow larger.

However, given everything that had happened tonight, Max still needed to return with S.H.I.E.L.D. for some necessary questioning.

"Don't worry, I'll send someone with you. They won't dare harm you."

Su Ye knocked on the car door, and soon a burly man wearing sunglasses emerged. At first glance, he looked like the Terminator.

"This is Arnold. He'll accompany you and temporarily ensure your safety. If anything comes up, just talk to him."

Arnold's official identity was that of an auxiliary member of the Red Shield Branch, tasked with monitoring and protecting Max on Su Ye's behalf. In reality, he was a clone of Su Ye.

Max was quite pleased with Su Ye's arrangements. A boss this considerate, who took care of everything for his subordinates and spoke so nicely—where else could he find one?

In over forty years of his life, Max had never received such respect. Moreover, the friendship he'd built with Su Ye when he was pretending to be an intern, Snake Zhang, had fostered a strong sense of closeness.

If this were a strategy game, Max's loyalty would have risen to over 80 by now, making him the type who wouldn't betray unless something major happened.

After settling Max, Su Ye took Sharon back home.

After a day of sea breeze and an easy fight, the entire day had passed without breaking much of a sweat.

Going back to play some games or drive an off-road vehicle to experience speed and bumps sounded like a great way to end the day.

…..

That night, it was said that Alexander Pierce slammed his desk in frustration, turning his hand red and even fracturing his pinky.

Alexander Pierce had speculated that this so-called Wusheng could handle the trouble but would undoubtedly face some challenges, considering the number of police officers and soldiers left incapacitated.

Based on this assumption, he signed the supplemental agreement, ready to exploit any mishap during Wusheng's fight—even if it was just scaring bystanders with his movements—to render the Red Shield Branch's founding documents void.

But no one could have predicted the fight would end so quickly, so abruptly, and so easily…

Who would've thought that a fire truck and a high-pressure water cannon could take down such a powerful super-criminal?

One misstep, and it's a regret for eternity!

Alexander Pierce clutched his fractured pinky, seething with frustration.

He was even more familiar with the "red" movement than Nick Fury, so he knew exactly what would happen if this branch were established. Hydra's foundation, built over decades, might collapse completely.

But now that things had come to this, what could he do?

Send his secret weapon, the Winter Soldier, to take out Su Ye like he did with Howard and Maria Stark?

Pierce was worried that sending the Winter Soldier might just be serving him up on a platter. After all, Su Ye was the formidable Wusheng who had once defeated Abomination.

What worried him more was that the Winter Soldier might not only fail to stir up trouble but also end up being recruited into the Red Shield Branch, resulting in a total loss for Pierce.

Don't say it's impossible—the electric blue guy had just fought the police and military, and now he was already a Red Shield Branch member.

This was Red Alert!

Compared to Alexander Pierce, the American representative, other ministers in the International Security Council were quite pleased.

Especially the representative from Longguo (China).

S.H.I.E.L.D. had been controlled by the U.S. for so many years that Longguo couldn't even wedge in a needle. Just because they hadn't voiced their displeasure didn't mean they didn't have any. After all, neither the United Nations nor S.H.I.E.L.D. belonged to any one country.

Of course, without comparable national power, speaking up wouldn't yield results. Only with strength could their voices carry weight.

But now, the situation had changed. A foreign student, relying solely on his own abilities, had managed to plant a red flag within S.H.I.E.L.D. This both surprised and intrigued the Longguo representative.

What kind of high school graduate could accomplish something this inspiring?

They looked into Su Ye's background: his father, Su Mutian.

Alright, the Longguo representative immediately understood. Like father, like son. If he was Su Mutian's son, then it all made sense.

"We can send someone to connect and collaborate with the Red Shield Branch, but remember: absolutely no meddling in their affairs without permission. If anyone dares interfere, I'll chop off their hand and send them back home for investigation. Understood?"

With the orders given, everyone on the Longguo side understood the gravity of the situation. There wasn't a single fool who would stir up trouble unnecessarily.

In the end, the Longguo representative assigned someone to meet with Su Ye, explain their stance, and handle future communications and cooperation.

"Hello, my name is Zheng Xian."

In Oscorp's office, Su Ye met the representative sent by the Longguo minister—a tall, slim middle-aged man with a smile on his face but a murderous glint in his eyes.

"Hello, Zheng…" Seeing that it was one of his own, Su Ye naturally felt close, almost blurting out "Brother Zheng."

Then Zheng Xian added, "I was once a comrade of your father, Su Mutian."

Alright then, Su Ye immediately understood. This wasn't a "brother"—it was an "uncle."

"Hello, Uncle Zheng. Please have a seat," Su Ye said as he offered a chair, while mentally grumbling.

Was this yet another instance of his father showing off without lifting a finger?

Clearly doing nothing yet being everywhere—truly, you are my father!

"Mutian didn't mention you studying in the U.S. I only found out about it recently," Zheng Xian said with a smile, thanking Sharon for the tea.

This wasn't an excuse—Old Su genuinely wasn't someone who liked troubling others.

Su Ye nodded in understanding. After some casual small talk, they got down to business, discussing how the Longguo representative of the International Security Council and the Red Shield Branch could collaborate.

Su Ye expressed his gratitude for the Longguo minister's goodwill, but there was one matter where he needed the council's assistance.

"Here's the thing, Uncle Zheng. Establishing the Red Shield Branch has been a long-term plan of mine, but red operations aren't my strong suit. I'm hoping to get some help from the council in this area."

Zheng Xian agreed immediately. This meeting had gone much more smoothly than expected, thanks to his connection with Old Su. When he returned home, he'd have to grab a drink with that old fellow and ask how he'd raised such an outstanding son.

As soon as Zheng Xian left, Harry showed up.

"Xiao Ye, you're too much!"

The moment he entered, he punched Su Ye lightly in the chest—not much harder than a playful jab.

"So, you're actually with the UN Security Council, and even a director of some Red Shield Branch…"

"It's Uncle Secretary of the Red Shield Branch!" Su Ye corrected firmly.

"Uncle Secretary? That pun is so lame—you've got no shame. But that's not the point. The point is, this is such a big deal, and you didn't even tell me. Do you even see me as a brother?"

Harry looked genuinely upset. "Am I not qualified to be a member of the Red Shield Branch?"

You, dressed head to toe in green, really don't match with red, Su Ye thought to himself, suppressing a smirk.

"Fine! Your silence means you agree!" Harry clapped his hands decisively.

Su Ye sighed. Whatever makes you happy.

"Alright, it's settled then. I'll call a board meeting right away and clear out the top two floors of the building for our Red Shield Branch headquarters. We'll also get helicopters and other vehicles."

"Oh, and we can't just have a few of us in Red Shield, right? I'll recruit directly from the Ivy League to expand our team."

"If they can't get into Ivy League schools, then let Ivy League grads work for us!"

"And another thing…"

Harry went on a long-winded rant, acting as if he were the Executive Uncle of the Red Shield Branch. Meanwhile, Su Ye, the actual Uncle Secretary, could just sit back in a lounge chair, sipping soda, while peace was achieved.

Wait, wasn't that a line from Iron Man?

Thinking of Iron Man reminded Su Ye of Green Goblin Norman Osborn, who in the comics once donned Iron Man's armor and called himself the Iron Patriot.

Whether Norman Osborn was patriotic, Su Ye wasn't sure, but the idea of wearing Iron Man's suit was worth borrowing.

Harry's physical form riding a glider was a significant safety hazard.

They could modify his flight suit into something akin to Iron Man's—lightweight armor capable of flight and combat.

The glider could then serve as an external attachment for long-distance travel and carrying heavy firepower.

To put it metaphorically, the flight suit would be like a fighter jet, and the glider would be a combination of a transport and bomber. The enemy might think destroying his glider would ground him, but as soon as he discards it, he transforms into Iron Man, ready for aerial combat without missing a beat.

When Su Ye shared this idea with Harry, his eyes lit up immediately.

"Your Spider-Man suit could also be modified this way! Use the glider as a travel tool, and then attach Doc Ock's mechanical arms. Install six of them, and you'd literally become a spider!"

The civilian version of Doc Ock's mechanical arms was already in development. These mechanical arms—no, not tentacles!—were set to have eight appendages, ideal for simultaneously clearing multiple sewer and drainage lines.

With his imagination sparked, Harry suddenly felt like a researcher himself, excitedly pitching more of his ideas.

"Also, I think we could mass-produce the glider as transportation for Red Shield members. Wait, no, it's too hard to control for ordinary people. Let's reserve it for superheroes."

"By the way, what should we call our superhero team?"

Hearing Harry's question, Su Ye lifted his gaze toward the east. In his eyes, it was as if he saw five thousand years of civilization, its glorious yet turbulent history.

"Have you ever heard of the Great Wall?"
