Chapter 9: Let's find the killer before He gets his second victim {Fixed}
In a quiet room, John and Rimuru sat waiting for Akako. The air was still, save for the occasional shuffle of feet outside. Suddenly, the door burst open, and Yato stormed in, her expression tense.
[Yato]: Where is Doctor Kal'tsit?
[Rimuru]: She's in the room with Akako. Why? What's wrong?
Yato took a deep breath before delivering the news.
[Yato]: Your friend Ahma was found half-dead. His injuries are severe—if we don't get expert medical help soon, he might never walk again… or worse, he might never move at all.
The words hit like a thunderclap. Without hesitation, John and Rimuru shot up, racing toward the room where Kal'tsit and Akako were. They didn't slow down—not even for the door. With a combined force, they smashed it apart.
[John & Rimuru]: AKAKO! AHMA—HALF DEAD—NEEDS—HELP—NOW!
Akako, sitting at a desk with Kal'tsit, blinked at the sudden intrusion. She sighed, rubbing her temples.
[Akako]: Take a deep breath. One at a time. Rimuru, you first. And explain why you just split the door in half.
Rimuru straightened up and forced himself to calm down.
[Rimuru]: Ahma was found nearly dead. We need Doctor Kal'tsit to save him, and we need your help to find the one who did this.
Kal'tsit, who had remained quiet up until now, stood up and adjusted her gloves. Her usual composed expression turned into a deep frown.
[Kal'tsit]: A killer? How did someone slip through? I had S.W.E.E.P. run a full cleanup before you arrived. I need to investigate this immediately.
[Half an hour later...]
The atmosphere in the infirmary was heavy,
[Goosein]: What the hell happened here?
Noah and Arakan both glanced up at Goosein, their eyes filled with guilt and confusion.
[Arakan]: We were drunk... we didn't even feel it. Whoever did this took advantage of our state.
Noah's voice was a low, bitter growl. He took a step forward, fury flashing in his eyes.
[Noah]: Whoever did this is going to pay. I swear it on my blood.
Warfarin had already started working on a blood transfusion, pumping fresh blood into Ahma's veins. Her hands were swift, but even her expertise couldn't hide the urgency in her movements. She needed help.
[Warfarin]: We need a specialist. Someone who can pinpoint the injury and stop the internal bleeding.
The sight before them made them freeze. Ahma lay on a medical bed, bandages covering his head and torso, his breathing shallow. The monitors beeped steadily, each sound a reminder of how close he was to death.
Kal'tsit stepped forward, her trained eyes scanning his injuries.
[Kal'tsit]: His skull is fractured, and there's a tremor in his brain. His spinal cord has been severely damaged… but this wasn't just an attempted murder. This was a hate crime.
The others exchanged uneasy glances.
[John]: Why do you say that?
Kal'tsit pointed to the wounds.
[Kal'tsit]: The first hit was meant to kill him. The second, however, was out of sheer hatred. The attacker wanted to make him suffer.
John, scanning the scene, suddenly noticed something on the floor near Ahma's hand. His face twisted in exasperation.
[John]: I think I know why. Look at this.
Everyone turned to see the message scrawled in blood on the floor:
["THE KILLER IS FLAT-CHESTED (° ͜ʖ°)"]
A silence fell over the room. Rimuru let out a long, tired sigh.
[Rimuru]: Yeah, this is definitely Ahma's doing… not the killer's.
John pinched the bridge of his nose.
[John]: Why does he always do this?
Akako chuckled, though her expression remained serious.
[Akako]: No wonder the killer hates him. But this doesn't help much—there are a lot of flat-chested people around here. It could be a woman… or a man with a slim build.
Rimuru gave her a wary look.
[Rimuru]: Please don't do something stupid like running around asking people if they're flat-chested.
Akako smirked.
[Akako]: Relax. I wouldn't— pauses Actually… Rimuru, you should do it. You're cute, so people won't get mad at you.
[Rimuru]: WHAT?! WHY ME?!
Before Akako could respond, Yato pointed to the ground.
[Yato]: Forget that. Look. There's a blood trail leading out of the room.
Everyone turned their heads, following the long crimson streak stretching toward the hallway.
[Meanwhile, With Grey...]
Grey had been asleep through most of the chaos. But when she finally woke up, she felt… strange.
[Grey]: Good morning, everyone.
The moment she spoke, all eyes snapped toward her. She was sitting upright, now wearing operating clothes.
John exhaled in relief.
[John]: Finally, you're awake. Do you need anything?
Grey blinked a few times before nodding.
[Grey]: Yeah… I'm hungry. Where's the cafeteria? Also… I can't move my left leg.
[John]: I'll take you there. Come on.
John helped her walk to the cafeteria, where Grey's eyes widened at the massive dining hall.
[Grey]: Wow… this place is huge.
John gestured toward the kitchen.
[John]: Tell me what you want. I'll cook it for you.
Grey didn't hesitate.
[Grey]: Meat. A lot of meat. And cold ice water.
[John]: Alright. Wait here.
As Grey sat down, she muttered to herself.
[Grey]: Stats.

[Grey]: I really overdid it… Next time, I need to train my skills properly.
Her fingers curled into fists. A distant memory flickered in her mind—someone important, someone she had lost.
[Grey]: If you were here… would you still love me? I should've said yes back then. It was my biggest mistake. But please… wait for me. I will come back for you. I'll marry you. I'll be your wife. But first… I need to eat.
A moment later, John returned with five stacked plates.
[John]: Here. Amiya helped me cook these.
Grey's eyes lit up.
[Grey]: Thank you!
John smiled.
[John]: No need to thank me. You're like a little sister to me now.
As he left, Grey ate. Bite after bite, she devoured everything. Then, she requested thread, needles, and a guitar. When John returned, she quietly began sewing—crafting two small dolls: one of Dokutah and one of Amiya.
Unbeknownst to her, the moment she finished, dozens of operators were watching.
And when she picked up the guitar and began singing… the entire cafeteria fell silent.
[Grey]:
"Living Life, in the Night"
Lord knows, and I think I know it too sometimes…"
For five minutes, she sang. And when she finished, the cafeteria erupted into applause.
Grey blinked, turning red.
[Meanwhile, In a Dark Basement...]
[Arakan]: Noah… is the killer really in here?
Before Noah could answer, Goosein came running toward them.
[Goosein]: There you two are! Where did you disappear to?!
[Arakan]: Perfect timing. We think the killer is inside.
Noah sniffed the air.
[Noah]: His blood is here.
As they stepped in, the door slammed shut behind them.
Dark music played.
A massive green Originium Slug emerged.
[System]: You have found the secret boss: Buff Boll the Green One.
[Buff Boll the Green One]
HP: (10000/10000)
The three of them grinned.
[Goosein]: Let's teach him a lesson.
[Noah]: Lay a hand on our friends… and you die.
