Immune to the parasite that destroyed the world

Chapter 11: Save Namra

Then she heard it—a low, guttural buzz that sent shivers down her spine.

Sakura turned, her breath catching in her throat.

The creature before her was a grotesque fusion of a massive bee and human bodies, its form twisted and unnatural. Its thorax was covered in matted fur, but patches of human skin peeked through, stretched and distorted. Human arms and legs protruded from its sides at odd angles, their fingers twitching as if still alive. Its head was a nightmarish blend of bee and human features, with glowing green eyes and a mouth filled with jagged teeth.

Green slime oozed from its joints, pooling on the floor and sizzling like acid. The creature let out a buzz, the sound a horrifying mix of insectoid fury and human screams.

Sakura raised her pistol, her hands steady despite the fear coursing through her. "What... what the hell are you?"

The creature lunged, its wings beating so fast they became a blur. Sakura barely had time to roll out of the way as its grotesque limbs clawed at the air where she had stood a second ago. She fired a quick burst of shots, the bullets striking the creature's fur-covered thorax. It screeched but kept coming, unfazed by the damage.

"Damn it!" she muttered, leaping backward and firing again. The bullets chipped away at its flesh, revealing more sickly green slime beneath. The stench of rot filled the air.

Back at the headquarters, Komi's drones buzzed over the facility, their cameras capturing the horror below. Her eyes widened as the feed showed the bee-human hybrid and other green-infected creatures.

"Doctor Ashita!" she called, her voice trembling. "You need to see this."

Ashita hurried over, his expression darkening as he watched the screen. The green-infected moved with a terrifying intelligence, their glowing eyes scanning their surroundings. Unlike the purple-infected, these creatures acted with purpose.

"Alert everyone," Ashita ordered. "Tell them to be careful. These parasites... they're something new."

Just as the words left his lips, Jin arrived at the battlefield just in time to see a massive bear-human hybrid charging at Sakura. Its frame was monstrous, covered in matted fur, but patches of human skin stretched and distorted along its body. Its head was a twisted fusion of bear and human, its glowing green eyes locked onto its prey.

"Need a hand?" Jin called out, his usual cocky grin in place.

Sakura didn't respond, too focused on the incoming threat. She emptied her clip into the creature, but it barely slowed, the bullets sinking into its body like pebbles into mud.

The hybrid roared, its massive paws slamming into the ground and sending shockwaves through the room. Jin moved in, his Synth-Unit boots activating in a burst of energy. He dashed forward, his fists moving like wrecking balls.

"Let's see how tough you are!" he shouted, delivering a punch that sent the creature flying into a wall.

The impact left a crater in the concrete, but the hybrid quickly recovered, its glowing eyes locking onto Jin. With a guttural snarl, it lunged, its claws slicing through the air. Jin barely managed to dodge, the beast's claws scraping against his shoulder armor.

Sakura reloaded and darted around the creature, firing precise shots at its joints. The bullets finally seemed to have an effect, slowing the beast's movements.

Jin took advantage of the opening, activating his laser gun and firing a concentrated beam at the creature's chest. The blast burned through the fur and flesh, exposing more of the pulsating green slime beneath.

With a final roar, Jin leaped into the air and delivered a devastating uppercut, the force of the blow sending the hybrid crashing through the ceiling.

"That's how it's done," Jin said, brushing off his hands.

Sakura nodded, her expression grim. "We're not done yet."

Meanwhile, deep in the facility, Makami found himself alone. The sound of growls echoed through the corridors, and he tightened his grip on his shotgun.

A pack of green-infected wolves emerged from the shadows, their forms twisted and unnatural. Their bodies were a horrifying mix of wolf and human features, with glowing green eyes and patches of fur replaced by human skin.

Makami wasted no time, firing a burst of shots. The blast tore through the first wolf, sending it sprawling. But more kept coming, their movements coordinated, intelligent.

"Shit..." he muttered, reloading as fast as he could.

The wolves circled him, their glowing eyes locked on their prey. Then, as if commanded, they all lunged at once.

Makami barely had time to react. He dodged, firing as he moved, his shotgun tearing through flesh. One wolf clamped its jaws onto his arm, but he twisted, slamming the stock of his gun into its skull.

"I'm not dying here," he growled, pumping another round into the chamber.

In another part of the facility, Haruto struggled to keep up with Namra. His shots missed more often than not, and he stumbled over debris, nearly getting himself killed multiple times.

"Why did they pair me with you?" Namra snapped, slicing through a parasite with deadly precision. "You're more of a liability than a help."

Haruto winced but didn't respond. He knew she was right.

When they reached a building swarming with parasites, Namra turned to him. "Cover me. And try not to screw it up."

She disappeared inside, leaving Haruto to guard the entrance. But as the infected closed in, his hands trembled. His shots went wide, and the parasites flooded into the building.

Namra was trapped.

Haruto's heart pounded as he fumbled with his rifle. "I can't... I can't do this..."

Just as the infected closed in, a voice rang out. "Haruto!"

He turned to see Shina running toward him, her pistol in hand. She fired a burst of shots, each bullet finding its mark. The parasites fell, one after another.

"You're welcome," she said, reloading her pistol. Though her tone was teasing, her eyes were serious.

Haruto stared at her, relief washing over him. "Shina... how did you—"

"Save the questions for later," she interrupted. "Let's get Namra out of there."
