Chapter 23: Training Intensity & A Glitch in the Matrix

The approaching storm, invisible to most, was a tangible pressure to Adam. With the Mind Stone active in Sokovia and the Winter Soldier's trigger words finally revealed, the timeline was accelerating. The events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier were looming, and he needed his two most powerful, and emotionally volatile, Guild members ready.

He poured GP into Wanda and Pietro's training, pushing them beyond their comfortable limits. Their safe house in Sokovia was less a home and more a high-tech training facility, equipped with various Guild Store purchased training constructs and simulated environments.

Wanda spent hours with the 'Advanced Psionic Training Construct', a shimmering, holographic device that projected increasingly complex mental challenges. She conjured energy shields against simulated projectiles, dismantled intricate mental puzzles, and learned to project her thoughts with precision. Her crimson energy was less wild now, more like a disciplined, deadly dance.

Pietro, meanwhile, ran the 'Hyper-Speed Obstacle Course' until he was a mere streak of light. He wove through laser grids, dodged holographic blasts, and practiced disarming targets at impossible speeds. He was still impulsive, but his movements were more controlled, his focus sharper.

During one particularly intense session, as Wanda was trying to hold multiple complex psionic constructs simultaneously, something shifted. Her eyes, usually glowing faintly with crimson energy, flickered. The holographic constructs around her distorted, not just collapsing, but shimmering with impossible colors, impossibly fast flashes of other places, other faces.

Wanda cried out, clutching her head, a raw, piercing scream escaping her lips as the vision overwhelmed her. Pietro instantly blurred to her side, his super-speed-enhanced hearing picking up the distress.

Adam, monitoring remotely, saw it too. The 'glitch in the Matrix'. A nascent tear in reality, a glimpse of the multiverse. This was far too early, far too uncontrolled.

"Wanda! Pietro! Get her back to normal! Focus on her breathing, Pietro! Wanda, listen to my voice! Ground yourself! Focus on the here and now!" Adam commanded through the comms, a frantic edge to his voice.

Pietro, though alarmed, reacted instantly. He placed his hands gently on Wanda's shoulders, his own breathing slowing to a steady rhythm, trying to transfer his calm to her. "Wanda, look at me! Breathe! Focus on my voice! On my face!"

Wanda's body convulsed, tears streaming down her face, the raw power of her nascent abilities lashing out uncontrollably. "So many… screams! So many… worlds! Broken! It's too much!"

Adam, remembering the trauma of his own transmigration, knew this was a critical moment. He activated a Guild ability he rarely used: [Guild Master: Soothing Presence – Target: Wanda Maximoff (5 GP)]

A wave of calming energy, like a gentle mental balm, washed over Wanda through her Guild connection. It wasn't mind control, but a subtle nudge, a suggestion of peace. Combined with Pietro's physical presence and steady voice, it began to work.

Wanda's tremors subsided. The impossible colors faded. The screams receded into a distant echo. She gasped, leaning heavily on Pietro, her eyes wide with lingering terror.

"What… what was that?" she whispered, her voice hoarse. "I saw… everything. So much… chaos."

Adam's voice was firm but gentle. "A glimpse of what you truly are capable of, Wanda. And a glimpse of the wider universe. It was too much, too soon. But it proves your potential. We'll train you to control it, to harness it. Not let it overwhelm you. That's why we're doing this. To protect you, and to protect others from that chaos."

Pietro held his sister close, looking at Adam's holographic image with new understanding. "She needs to be stronger, Adam. We both do."

"And you will be," Adam promised. The glitch had been terrifying, but also a stark reminder of Wanda's unfathomable power. It wasn't just about fighting Hydra anymore; it was about preparing her for the multiverse that was slowly, terrifyingly, revealing itself.
