Chapter 26: Chaos in DC & The Sky Falls

The air over Washington D.C. was thick with the scent of burning metal and ozone. Sirens wailed a cacophony of despair, but to Adam, monitoring the battle from his secure comms hub, it was the sound of a carefully orchestrated symphony of chaos. The Guild's first major, synchronized strike was underway.

"Wanda, Pietro! Status on Helicarrier Three!" Adam barked, watching the live feeds from discreet cameras his 'Ghost' asset had placed, and relying on Jeremy's compromised internal SHIELD feeds.

Pietro's voice, surprisingly steady amidst the wind and static, cut through. "Adam, we're inside! This thing's a flying fortress. But they didn't account for 'Super-Speedy' and his 'Hex-Girl'!" A blur on the screen confirmed his entry into the massive thruster housing.

"Found the conduit!" Wanda's voice, strained but resolute, followed. "Overloading the energy flow… it's unstable, Adam! Can't hold it for long!" A crimson glow pulsed deep within the Helicarrier's belly, visible even from the exterior cameras. The gargantuan aircraft shuddered, its trajectory wavering precariously.

Meanwhile, Yelena, a ghost among the panicking Hydra agents inside the Triskelion, was a picture of deadly efficiency. Her internal comms were silent, but her body camera feed was a blur of calculated movements. She disarmed a squad of Strike agents with balletic grace, then moved towards the command center.

"Targets acquired," her voice, calm and precise, eventually came through Adam's earpiece. The feed showed Senator Stern, mid-sentence, suddenly slumped over his console, a dart buried in his neck. Councilman Singh followed moments later. Non-lethal, as ordered, but incapacitating. She wasn't killing them, but she was ensuring they wouldn't be giving orders any time soon.

"Control room neutralized," Yelena confirmed. "Transferring data packets to Darcy now. This place is a madhouse, Adam. Good work."

Speaking of Darcy…

"They're going nuts over here, Adam!" Darcy's voice was a chaotic mix of exhilaration and pure tech-geek joy. "The leaks are exploding! Every major news network just got the 'Worldwide Acquisitions LLC' ledger! Hydra's financial network is now public knowledge! The internet is breaking! #HydraExposed is trending globally! I think I just crashed a few national databases, oops!"

Adam smirked. "Oops" was right. Darcy was a digital wrecking ball, and he loved it.

"Jeremy, comms status!"

"Chaos, sir!" Jeremy replied, sounding breathless but determined. "I'm routing all outgoing Hydra comms to a loop of Rick Astley! Their internal frequency is a meme now! Any remaining loyal SHIELD agents are getting scrambled orders, delaying their response. It's beautiful chaos!"

And 'Ghost'. 'Ghost' was the silent enabler. Their movements were impossible to track, but the seamless opening of locked doors, the sudden failure of surveillance cameras, the timely diversions in corridors – all spoke to their ethereal presence, ensuring his other Guild members could move unhindered.

Suddenly, a loud screech tore through the air. Helicarrier Two, impacted by Captain America's direct action, spiraled downwards, smoke billowing. Helicarrier One, destabilized by Falcon, was also losing altitude. And Helicarrier Three, courtesy of Wanda and Pietro, was lurching violently, its massive engines sputtering.

Adam saw the chaos, the destruction, but also the precision. His Guild was effective. They were changing the script.

"Keep it up, everyone!" Adam commanded, his voice filled with adrenaline. "This is it! Make sure those Helicarriers go down as safely as possible! Protect the innocent! We are Guardians!"

The battle raged, a symphony of destruction and calculated heroism. The sky was literally falling, but this time, it was falling on Hydra.
