Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Cynthia's Gratitude
The next morning, Ryo slowly opened his eyes after finishing his training.
Immediately, a round face with a big grin appeared in front of him.
"Whoa!"
Startled, Ryo's body tensed up.
"Ryo, you're awake! Hoopa is bored and wants to go play."
Hoopa's large eyes stared at him with anticipation.
Ryo let out a relieved sigh and rolled his eyes. "Alright, I'll take you out."
After saying that, he got up, put on his shoes, and led Hoopa outside.
However, the moment he stepped out, he saw Cynthia groggily emerging from her own room.
She waved at him lazily. "Morning, Ryo."
Just as she was about to head off, her gaze fell on Hoopa.
She rubbed her eyes and froze.
Then, suddenly—
"AHHHHHH—"
Cynthia let out a high-pitched scream.
"Ryo, Ryo, that—that—"
Ryo shot her a glare. "Stop stuttering. It's Hoopa, as you can see—it's my Pokémon."
"It's really… Hoopa?"
Cynthia immediately stepped closer, practically shoving Ryo aside, as she stared at Hoopa with wide, fiery eyes filled with curiosity.
"Uh… Ryo, can Hoopa hit her? Her stare is scaring Hoopa…"
The way Cynthia was looking at Hoopa, like she wanted to devour it, was honestly intimidating.
Ryo smirked and pulled Cynthia back. "Hey, hey, that's enough. Do you really want Hoopa to smack you?"
Cynthia finally snapped out of her trance and awkwardly apologized. "Sorry, Hoopa. I kind of lost control when I saw a legendary Pokémon right in front of me."
"It's fine! Hoopa forgives you."
Hoopa placed its hands on its hips, looking very magnanimous.
With that, they became acquainted. After being called over by Gardevoir, they all went their separate ways to wash up and get ready for the day.
—
After breakfast, which was meticulously prepared by Gardevoir, Ryo lounged on the couch, resting after the meal.
However, Cynthia followed him, pestering him with questions about how he got Hoopa.
"Why are you so curious about this? I summoned it, obviously. How else would it get here?"
Cynthia nodded in realization. "True. But you were right about something before."
"Huh?"
Ryo gave her a confused look. "What was I right about?"
"You said you'd be able to summon more legendary Pokémon in the future."
Ryo didn't know how to respond to that.
Was she implying that she hadn't believed him before?
His lips twitched.
"Originally, I was planning to surprise you, but now… I suddenly don't feel like it anymore."
"Surprise?"
Cynthia perked up. "What surprise?"
Ryo simply shook his head, stood up, and walked toward his room.
Cynthia watched him curiously but didn't press him for answers.
Moments later, Ryo returned holding the Garchomp Evolution Set.
Cynthia's eyes widened slightly as she trembled. "Ryo… Is this my Garchomp?"
Seeing her reaction, Ryo smiled and nodded. "Yep, it's yours. And it comes with a Mega Evolution stone and bracelet. Honestly, I'm a little jealous."
Before he could even finish speaking, Cynthia suddenly stepped forward and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you, Ryo. I love this surprise."
Ryo stiffened, feeling slightly awkward.
Scratching the back of his head, he mumbled, "I-It's nothing."
Cynthia released him and quickly grabbed Garchomp's Poké Ball.
"Come out, Garchomp!"
A flash of light shot out, and Garchomp materialized inside the wooden cabin.
"ROARRR—!"
Seeing Cynthia, Garchomp let out a joyful cry.
Cynthia slowly walked forward and patted its arm.
"Garchomp, we finally meet again."
"ROARRR—!"
Garchomp nodded with a happy expression.
Ryo, watching from the side, simply shook his head. Then, his eyes sharpened as he inspected Garchomp.
[Garchomp]
Gender: Female
Classification: Mach Pokémon
Type: Ground/Dragon
Ability: Rough Skin (Inflicts up to 1/8 max HP damage to attackers on contact)
Level: 87 (Kage-level)
Moves: Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, Hyper Beam, Swords Dance, Dragon Rush...
Ryo nodded in satisfaction.
As expected of a Champion's Pokémon, its presence was incredibly stable, and its move pool was extensive—far more than Dragonite's.
Clearly, Cynthia had taught Garchomp every possible move it could learn.
Ryo couldn't help but feel a little envious.
—
After chatting with Garchomp for a bit, Cynthia led it outside to the backyard, likely introducing it to the other Pokémon.
Seeing this, Ryo didn't say much.
He took out the Origin Fruit of the Mysterious Tree and followed them.
—
"Ryo, are you sure this fruit can really help Dragonite break through to the Master-level?"
Cynthia's eyes widened as she stared at the fruit in Ryo's hand.
Ryo nodded. "Yeah, that's exactly how it works."
Cynthia frowned slightly. "That's impossible. In my world, we have similar mysterious fruits, but they don't work on Champion-level Pokémon."
"This may be a mysterious fruit, but it's not just any ordinary one."
"Oh?"
Cynthia looked at him with curiosity. "What's the difference?"
Ryo explained, "This fruit came from the very first Mysterious Fruit Tree—it's the Origin Fruit. Any Pokémon under Level 100 can gain one level upon consumption."
Hearing this, Cynthia's eyes widened in surprise. She might not have fully understood all the mechanics behind it, but she could tell that Ryo was telling the truth.
Ryo didn't say much more and turned to Dragonite. "Go ahead and eat it, Dragonite. Once you do, you'll break through."
Dragonite hesitated for a moment, then nodded and took the fruit.
Everyone watching—both humans and Pokémon—became completely focused.
"ROARRR—!"
Suddenly, Dragonite's face contorted in pain.
"Dragonite!"
Ryo's heart tightened as he quickly stepped forward.
Cynthia, along with Gardevoir and the other Pokémon, also rushed toward Dragonite, concern filling their expressions.
"ROARRR—!"
As they neared, Dragonite let out another agonized roar, its face scrunching up in pain.
