In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: A Rich Lady, Truly a Rich Lady

Might Guy's eyes lit up as he saw the Pokéballs. Having seen these little balls before, he didn't doubt their function.

He reached out to take them from Ryo, but just as he was about to grab them, Ryo pulled his hand back.

Might Guy paused, slightly stunned. "What's wrong, boss?"

Ryo didn't answer right away. Instead, he pointed toward the price list hanging on the wall.

The group followed his gesture, their gazes landing on the price board.

Seeing the prices listed, most of them remained calm.

But Lee, who had always been short on money, was wide-eyed. "Wh—what?! Guy-sensei, are you sure we're not being scammed? These little balls cost 2,000 ryō each?"

Hinata Neji and Tenten, though surprised by the cost, glanced at Guy out of curiosity.

They hadn't been told why they came here or what this place was. Guy had simply brought them along.

Still, they didn't doubt it like Lee did, especially since they had enough money and 2,000 ryō wasn't much to them.

Even though Might Guy's enthusiasm was sometimes over the top, he wasn't a fool.

Guy noticed their questioning looks and chuckled. "Hahaha, sorry about that, boss. We'll pay."

He reached into his pocket for his wallet.

But when he opened it, his expression froze.

The others noticed and became curious, even Ryo, who couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

"Haha… I… I forgot my wallet." Guy scratched the back of his head sheepishly, looking embarrassed.

The group nearly collapsed on the spot.

Their expressions turned speechless.

Tenten pressed her hand to her forehead and sighed before stepping forward. "I'll pay."

"Hahaha, thanks, Tenten. I'll pay you back later."

"No need, Guy-sensei. It's not that much."

With that, Tenten pulled out her wallet. Under the group's watchful eyes, a fat stack of cash spilled out.

Ryo's eyes widened in shock. What the hell?! How does she have so much money stuffed in her wallet?!

It was more than all the money he'd ever seen!

Ryo couldn't help but stare at Tenten with a different expression. A rich lady, no doubt about it!

No wonder ninja tools were treated so casually in the anime—these guys were rolling in cash.

The rest of the group remained unfazed. They were used to it.

"Boss, here you go."

Ryo snapped out of his shock and accepted the money, handing the Pokéballs over.

"Alright, take these with you. Just remember, no forcing the Pokémon. If you do, the consequences won't be something you want to face."

Might Guy nodded seriously, "We'll be careful."

"Excuse me, boss," Tenten spoke up again. "You mentioned the Pokémon have to agree to be captured. What if they don't?"

Ryo replied, "If they refuse, the Pokéball will become useless. You'll have to buy another one to try again."

Tenten nodded thoughtfully, then opened her wallet again. "In that case, give me ten more Pokéballs. That way, I won't have to come back if it doesn't work out."

Ryo's eyes lit up. He nodded eagerly and handed her ten more Pokéballs.

"Boss, I see you also have Pokémon food listed on the price board. Can we buy that too?" Tenten asked while accepting the Pokéballs.

"Of course," Ryo replied with a smile. "It's all for sale."

Might Guy and the others stood there in disbelief.

Boss, weren't you acting a bit different just now? Isn't this too much of a double standard?

Can you at least try to treat everyone the same?!

"Boss, give me four bags of low-grade energy blocks, and also four Pokémon Guides."

Ryo nodded, smiling broadly. "Sure thing."

He swiftly packed the requested items and handed them over.

After paying, Tenten distributed the items among the group.

"Te… Tenten, are you sure this is okay?" Lee hesitated. The small purchases were fine, but these items cost tens of thousands of ryō—there was no way he could repay that quickly.

Guy and Neji accepted their share without hesitation. The amount didn't faze them.

Tenten noticed Lee's discomfort and reassured him with a smile. "Don't worry about it. Consider it a loan. Pay me back when you can. I'm in no rush."

Lee nodded, finally accepting the items. "Thank you… I'll repay you for sure."

Guy turned back to Ryo. "Boss, we'll head inside now."

Ryo nodded. "Alright, take care."

Led by Guy, the group headed toward the backyard.

They crossed the battle area and stepped into the forest, beginning their search.

On the way, under Might Guy's explanation, the group learned what Pokémon were. They were astonished and quickly started searching seriously.

Meanwhile, Ryo wasn't interested in the group's hunt for Pokémon in the backyard.

He was sitting comfortably, counting the stack of cash in his hands with a satisfied smile. "Letting them catch the Pokémon themselves is so much better. This way, the money comes in much faster and easier than before."

During the past week, Ryo had been doing more than just training his mental energy. He had also renovated the wooden house and redefined the rules for catching Pokémon.

The renovation wasn't anything fancy—just some new furniture purchased with some of his previous earnings.

As for the new rules, instead of selecting Pokémon, customers now had to find and capture them themselves.

"Finally, I don't have to worry about affording food anymore," Ryo sighed in relief.

When he was buying furniture, he had thought the shop wouldn't lack customers, so he spent all his savings without a second thought.

But after that, no customers came for an entire week! He had nearly starved!

Now, however, with this recent influx of cash, he wouldn't have to worry about meals for the next six months.

"This time, I won't spend everything again. I need to save some money—yes, save it!"

With that resolve, Ryo activated his mental energy. The stack of bills in his hand flew into the air as if they had a life of their own, quickly floating toward the room and landing in a wooden box.

After securing the money, Ryo sat down again and closed his eyes, silently continuing his training.

Thanks to the week of focused practice, his abilities had improved significantly.

If he were to face the Root Division's elite jonin from before, he could easily crush them.

Even against the strongest of the elite jonin, Ryo wouldn't back down anymore.
