Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Acting Like They Have a Serious Illness
Meanwhile, in the back mountain, Might Guy and his team looked around with puzzled expressions.
"Guy-sensei, are you sure there are really those so-called Pokémon here?" Tenten couldn't help but ask.
Rock Lee nodded in agreement, while even Neji Hyuga cast a curious glance at him.
They had been wandering for quite a while, almost covering half the mountain, yet they hadn't seen a single Pokémon—or even any other creature.
Might Guy furrowed his brows, looking slightly doubtful. "Let's keep searching."
If he didn't trust Kakashi, he might have thought he'd been tricked by Ryo.
It wasn't just that they hadn't found anything—there wasn't even a hint of movement in the area.
Tenten nodded, suppressing her confusion as they resumed their search.
"Ha-cha-cha!"
Suddenly, a strange sound came from nearby.
"Hmm? Did you guys hear that?" Tenten asked, her eyes lighting up.
The others exchanged glances and nodded, their expressions turning serious.
"Let's go take a look," Might Guy suggested, and the group carefully moved toward the source of the sound.
As they approached, they finally saw the creature making the noise.
"Guy-sensei, Tenten, Neji, what is that thing?" Rock Lee widened his eyes in shock.
In front of them was a round, rocky creature with arms, fists, and facial features—something that looked entirely bizarre.
Tenten and Neji were equally stunned, though they kept their composure a bit better.
Might Guy stroked his chin thoughtfully. "This must be a Pokémon."
The others rolled their eyes.
Wasn't that obvious enough already? Did he really need to say it?
Tenten reacted quickly, pulling out the Pokédex she had bought earlier and scanning the strange creature.
[Geodude]
Gender: Male Category: Rock Pokémon Type: Rock/Ground Ability: Sturdy (can survive a one-hit knockout attack) Level: 5 (Genin level) Moves: Tackle, Defense Curl, Mud Sport
As the Pokédex finished scanning, a robotic voice explained the details.
The group listened intently, their curiosity growing.
"So it's called Geodude... This Pokémon is really unique," Tenten said, intrigued by the creature.
Hearing about Pokémon was one thing, but actually seeing one in person piqued her curiosity even more.
She found herself fascinated by the details on the screen—its abilities, type, and level.
Neji and Rock Lee were just as curious, though slightly bewildered.
Might Guy laughed heartily. "Haha! So it really is a Pokémon. But it's quite strange, isn't it? A living rock!"
While they were staring at Geodude, the little creature noticed them as well.
It didn't show any signs of fear or panic. Instead, it seemed somewhat curious, tilting its head and observing them.
In the past week, Ryo had added several new Pokémon to the back mountain, including this Geodude. He had also explained the situation to them, so they wouldn't be startled by humans.
"Look at those strong arms! Does anyone want to try capturing it?" Might Guy asked, turning to his students.
"Guy-sensei! I want to capture it!" Rock Lee immediately stepped forward, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
As a taijutsu user, he couldn't help but admire Geodude's sturdy-looking fists.
"How about you two?" Might Guy turned to Tenten and Neji.
The two shook their heads. "We'll keep looking," Tenten replied. They couldn't appreciate Geodude the way Rock Lee did.
"Alright, Lee! Go capture your new partner! This is the spirit of youth!"
"Yes, Guy-sensei!" Rock Lee, tears streaming down his face, ran toward Geodude with determination.
Tenten and Neji watched, their faces twitching with embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Geodude tilted its head in confusion at the dramatic display.
"Geodude, be my partner! Let's burn with the passion of youth together!" Rock Lee declared passionately, his eyes full of emotion.
Tenten and Neji cringed in unison, black lines forming on their foreheads.
Might Guy, however, looked deeply moved, as though watching his child grow up. His eyes even glistened with tears.
Geodude, seeing the sincerity in Rock Lee's gaze, nodded enthusiastically. "Ha-cha-cha!"
"It worked?!" Tenten couldn't believe her eyes.
Neji's usually expressionless face showed a rare hint of disbelief.
"Hahaha! Well done, Lee! Now that you've got your Pokémon, let's celebrate with 10,000 push-ups!"
"Yes, Guy-sensei!"
The two green-clad figures immediately started doing push-ups, their enthusiasm unshakable.
"Ha-cha-cha!" Geodude, seeing them, mimicked their movements.
Might Guy and Rock Lee were so touched that they sped up their exercises.
"Guy-sensei, Lee, can we continue searching for other Pokémon now?" Tenten covered her face in exasperation.
Even though she was used to these antics, she still couldn't look at them directly without feeling second-hand embarrassment.
It really seemed like these two had some sort of serious problem.
No matter what the situation was, they always found a way to turn it into training.
"Ahem—" Might Guy coughed awkwardly and stood up. "You're right! Let's keep searching. Lee, we'll finish training after we find more Pokémon."
"Yes, Guy-sensei!" Rock Lee agreed, his voice filled with resolve.
