In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: This One’s a Real Menace

"It's nothing," Ryo shook his head before looking at Jiraiya curiously. "By the way, Jiraiya, aren't you in a hurry?"

Jiraiya suddenly remembered. "Oh, right! I still need to meet the old man!"

"Deino, we're leaving! See you next time, boss!"

After recalling Deino into its Poké Ball, Jiraiya dashed out of the shop at full speed, kicking up a cloud of dust behind him.

Ryo's eye twitched at the sight.

I guess not everything in anime is fake after all…

He sighed before muttering to himself, "I really hope Jiraiya can handle Deino's personality."

But the more he thought about it, the less confident he felt.

If even he, with maxed-out intimacy, couldn't completely control Deino, how could Jiraiya possibly manage?

"Well, not my problem," Ryo shrugged. "He's the one who insisted on catching it. Nothing to do with me—I'm definitely not taking it back."

No matter how strong Deino was, even if it had top-tier potential, Ryo wouldn't take it back.

That thing was just too much of a troublemaker.

If it were a Legendary Pokémon, he still wouldn't want it. The headache wasn't worth it.

Other pseudo-Legendaries at least behaved themselves. But Deino? Nonstop chaos.

"I was wondering which unlucky fool would end up catching it," Ryo sighed. "Turns out… it was Jiraiya."

Shaking his head, he dropped the thought and sat back down, resuming his training.

Meanwhile, Jiraiya had reached the center of Konoha.

As he walked through the busy streets, he let out a lecherous chuckle. "Ahh… Konoha's still full of beautiful women. If the old man weren't waiting for me, I'd definitely go peek at the hot springs."

But before he could get too lost in his fantasies, he suddenly felt his Poké Ball shake at his waist.

Snapping out of it, he looked down in confusion.

A second later, a beam of light shot from the Poké Ball, and Deino appeared in the middle of the street.

Jiraiya's eyes widened. "Wait… Pokémon can let themselves out?! That's not how it's supposed to work!"

But Deino ignored him completely.

Its eyes gleamed with excitement as it stared at the bustling crowd.

Grrr!

Letting out a cry, it suddenly bolted toward the pedestrians.

"Wha—Hey!"

Jiraiya panicked. "Deino, calm down!"

He immediately took off in pursuit.

But the street was crowded, and Deino was small. Jiraiya could only weave through the throng as he chased after it.

Then—

BAM!

Deino rammed straight into a random pedestrian.

Not stopping there, it bared its fangs and let out an intimidating roar.

Jiraiya, watching from behind, felt his stomach drop.

A strong urge to just run away hit him.

And then—

"Aaaahhh! Help! The Pokémon's eating people!"

The victim's terrified scream echoed through the streets.

Hearing that, the nearby civilians turned toward Deino.

Then they saw its expression—

And instantly, panic spread like wildfire.

The once-peaceful street erupted into chaos.

People ran in every direction, shouting in terror.

Most of them were ordinary villagers. They knew that Pokémon were strong.

A Pokémon with ninja-level power? One that was attacking people? Running was the only option.

Jiraiya's lips twitched into a helpless smile.

He felt utterly defeated.

Why did I bring Deino out…?

He had thought that Deino was just like him—interested in pretty women.

But no.

Despite being surrounded by beautiful women, Deino had deliberately chosen to attack a middle-aged man.

Deino, for its part, was having the time of its life.

Seeing the people running in fear only made it more excited.

It happily dashed after them, chasing one person here, another person there.

At that moment, it deeply regretted not escaping its Poké Ball sooner.

This—this was paradise!

Naturally, the commotion quickly caught the attention of nearby ninja.

Frowning at the scene, they immediately rushed in.

Jiraiya, seeing this, snapped back to reality and hurried to intercept them.

"Wait, wait, wait! This is my Pokémon! It's not attacking on purpose!"

He grabbed Deino before it could cause more trouble and turned to the approaching shinobi with an apologetic smile.

The ninja hesitated, then recognized him.

"Jiraiya-sama?"

Jiraiya forced a smile. "Yeah… Sorry about this. I'll keep a closer eye on it."

The ninja exchanged glances before nodding.

"Alright, Jiraiya-sama. We'll leave it to you."

As they walked away, Jiraiya let out a deep sigh and looked down at the struggling Deino in his arms.

Suddenly, he understood why Ryo had looked at him so strangely earlier.

This wasn't a brother.

This was a menace!

He could already tell—his peaceful days were over.

The realization hit him like a ton of bricks.

The ninja vanished into the distance, and Jiraiya turned back to Deino.

"You… you little brat!"

Deino huffed and glared at him in defiance.

Jiraiya scoffed. "You have no right to be mad! I'm the one who should be mad!"

Gritting his teeth, he declared, "That's it. I'm taking you back—I don't want you anymore!"

Deino froze.

All the struggle drained from its body.

The anger on its face vanished, replaced by wide, pitiful eyes.

Jiraiya was speechless.

That… that was fast.

And dammit, it actually worked!

Sighing in defeat, he shook his head. "Fine. You can stay. But from now on, you have to behave. If you cause another scene like this, I'm sending you straight back."

Deino nodded furiously, as if saying, Got it! Got it!

Seeing that, Jiraiya had no choice but to accept his fate.

He hoisted Deino up and carried it toward the Hokage's office.

At this point, he didn't dare put it back in the Poké Ball.

Meanwhile, Deino wasn't bothered at all.

It simply looked around curiously as Jiraiya carried it away.

Once they were gone, the people slowly returned to the streets, whispering nervously about what had just happened.
