Chapter 169: Alaric's Grudge
Alaric had also been quite confused when Cassius occasionally disappeared from all radars, but with his loosening seal, it wasn't all that surprising that there would be a few oddities. And more importantly, that little sh*t had blatantly cheated on his daughter! Multiple times!!
This was unacceptable!!!
But what could Alaric do to change this…?
He and that womanizing bastard had signed the contract years ago. The deed was done, and not even he, with his beyond SSS-Rank power, could do anything to change that fact.
If he backed out now, the consequences would be unimaginable… After all, the contract they each signed was done so in their blood. Although Alaric was unlikely to die even though he should, he would still be weakened to a state where the other Vampire Dukes could take advantage of him and his family.
Furthermore, if he reneged on the agreement to marry off his daughter to the bastard's son, his daughter would certainly come to loathe him. From the very first moment Bella laid eyes on Cassius, she basically orchestrated the whole marriage arrangement and even coerced him into placing one of his best seals on the boy after the womanizing bastard mysteriously disappeared.
Even now, Alaric had no idea where the real Adam Steele went off to. He heard some birds speak of there being a new Floor Guardian for the Trial Area of Humanity; however, since no one had ever seen the new Floor Guardian, he was unable to confirm the relation.
But the one thing Alaric did know for sure was that Adam Steele was not dead. Him dying was even more impossible than HELL freezing over tomorrow. He, more than anyone else, knew full well how true that statement was. After all, a few dozen years ago, when he had first encountered the bastard, they wound up fighting in a tournament meant to decide who would take the Princess of Yggdrasil's hand in marriage.
Alaric had been leading in the tournament for a good majority of the competition, and he was confident that if not for that womanizer's interference, he would've made it into the Top 25. However, because of Adam's sudden appearance when the tournament reached its final stages, Alaric was brought from Top 30 all the way down to Top 90!
His fight with that bastard had practically taken him out of commission for the remainder of the Tournament! He only barely managed to pull through in the end and secure a spot in the Top 25!

Naturally, this meant that when Alaric and Adam fought, the former got his ass absolutely handed to him… And it wasn't even close…
Adam even went so far as to fight him with a single arm and a single leg! He also blindfolded himself and plugged his ears!
Yet, even with all those handicaps, Adam plowed through Alaric's confidence gained from thousands of years serving as a Vampire Duke. Moreover, he took those same handicaps and fought the rest of the Tournament Competitors with them!
For a member of the human race—a species that could only live up to a few hundred years on the highest Floors—what Adam had done was akin to suicide! The Ascension Tower of Humanity had always been looked down upon! Humanity was supposed to be the weakest!!
However, that day, the preconceived notions of Humanity were completely shattered! Reality came crashing down on countless of the most powerful figures in existence!
Adam won the Tournament, did so overwhelmingly without being harmed, and came out with a Princess as a prize…
Alaric's hateful rivalry with that womanizing bastard started there, and over the years, they met each other on numerous occasions. Though, with nearly an entire century having passed since then, what was once an irrevocable hatred transformed into a friendship of sorts. (Neither would admit it.)
And one particular day roughly 17 years ago, they went out drinking, and in their muddled states of mind, they conjured up a blood pact that would tie them by blood through the marriage of their children. Alaric regretted it the very moment he became sober, with his regret exponentially increasing when his once resistant daughter first met that ungodly baby.
He couldn't believe the foolish thing he had done…
But when Bella proposed the whole Seal idea after Adam's disappearance, Alaric's depressed mood was slightly alleviated. After all, if he made the overly divine baby too hideous to look at, surely his daughter would feel repulsed and eventually forget all about the target of her overpowering infatuation.
Unfortunately… Alaric, the millennium-old Vampire Duke, with all his vast experience, underestimated just how deeply obsessed an offspring of his could be…
Bella hadn't just fancied the infant Cassius not much younger than herself, she had made him her entire world. No matter how ugly he became, no matter how generally unattractive he was, her obsessed feelings for him never lessened. In fact, they only increased over time!
Cassius was Bella's everything! She would do any number of indescribable things for him!! Erasing entire races from the face of the planet was not even close to being out of the equation if he asked it of her!
Alaric, her father, realized this all too late. And before he knew what had even happened, the situation before them had come to pass…
"Daddy, you must make sure that you restrain my husband! You must tie him down good! Really, really, re~ally good!!" Bella raved, her eyes darkening into swirling vortexes of obsession and love.
But when she recalled the other troublesome matter, the darkness within her morphed into something… terrifying.
"Those stupid clingy, fcking btches…" she scarily mumbled. "I'll kill them!!! I'll f*cking kill them and rip off their ugly little heads…!!!"
Alaric and his wife Carmilla watched as their daughter began to incoherently murmur with some unknown fog seeping from her lips. Alaric didn't know whether to be pissed off, worried, or depressed.
Whereas the lovely, curvy Milf Carmilla simply giggled while holding a hand over her bright red lips.
