Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!

Chapter 148: The Discovery

He never expected that someone would be that observant, or perhaps be caught in the act of interacting with the system.

Although he was surprised, he didn't take that as a controversy.

With a casual smile finally wrapping his face, he gave Harper a look and said,

"That's nothing, my love. Sometimes I just picture things and start drawing in the air. It's nothing significant," Jayden said.

"Twelve times, Jay... The last time I saw you, you seemed baffled by what you saw. I was beginning to believe I was seeing things... Or..." she pushed and shrugged.

"Or maybe you are going nuts."

Jayden laughed loudly at that, but then wore a serious face and struck a sharp glance at her.

"Trust me, Harper. It's nothing. Believe me," he said.

Harper gave a small moment of hesitation before nodding right after.

"But you have to promise me something, my love," she then said.

"Name it," Jayden responded.

"You have to promise me you won't act strange again. I mean, you would stop drawing on thin air. There are good papers available for you to use," Harper said.

Jayden chuckled, but he understood her feeling and knew why she had said that.

But it was clear that that couldn't be possible, because he would always have to interact with the system.

However, that didn't mean he would decline her...

At this point, he would just be a little more enclosed and make sure she never saw him that way again, or else, he knew he wouldn't be able to escape her questions.

"Sure, my love. I will use the books," he said.

She then drew near and kissed him deeply on the lips before they headed back out of the building.

"It's funny how you brought me here because of that," Jayden said as they walked down the alleyway.

"I didn't want the rest of the girls to hear a thing. I'm the only one who knows about it, I guess... So, it's best I just ask you in private," Harper replied.

"Well, my room is safe," Jayden objected.

"No, it's not. Charlotte has a recorder in every room for security reasons. I mean, an audio recorder... She would probably hear it if she's in her office or even discover the recordings later," Harper said.

It was then that Jayden understood, as he nodded in amazement.

"Ohh..."

But then a sudden realization flashed in.

He figured that he might speak sometimes when he was with the system, and the fact that Charlotte had every record made him flinch.

She could have been hearing him all this while.

Harper never knew that Jayden could speak to the system... She didn't even know it was a system he was interacting with after he lied to her.

So it was understandable that she didn't suspect that Charlotte could also be aware of his strange acts.

At this point, Jayden realized he hadn't sorted things out. He might have gotten past Harper, but he probably hadn't sorted Charlotte's yet.

But then, when they were walking through the hallway, giving short glimpses to the framed images on the walls, Jayden suddenly spotted a view that made his heart skip.

"Who's this?!" Jayden asked in a bellow, his eyes wide.

"That's Sofia Taylor... She's been one of our best workers. We had to honor her diligence and hard work by making a framed image for her," Harper said with a smile.

"Sofia Taylor, my ass!"

Harper flinched.

"This is Sofia Hartley. Daughter of the recently murdered Lynna Hartley," Jayden said, completely stunned.

"Wait... What? What do you mean? The one you suspected to have killed her mother?" Harper asked in awe.

"Hell yeah."

Stunned, Harper walked closer to the frame and gave it a long look.

"Sofia Taylor... Sofia Hartley... She said she's a chemist, and her father's a retired FBI officer," she said.

"Those were all lies. She forged everything. She came for a reason. Damn it!" Jayden said as he placed his hands on his forehead.

Harper became completely speechless, not even knowing how to react anymore.

"How long has she been here?" Jayden then asked.

"Five months..."

"God!"

"Okay, you have to calm down, my love. You really have to," Harper approached him and patted him on the back.

But Jayden was completely pissed.

"Where is she?" He turned and asked.

"Uhm, I don't know at this point. I gave the workers a week off after the completion of the Wild Wings First Phase project," Harper replied.

That was actually not the reply he wanted, as he clenched his fists and teeth before storming out of the building, heading straight back into the villa.

Harper had no choice but to follow up, since things appeared to be serious. She would swear that she had never seen him so pissed like he was today.

When Jayden entered the house, Camilia, Temi, and Paula were present in the living room.

They noticed his countenance and had to know what was wrong.

"What's wrong? What happened?" Temi asked at once, as Camilia and Paula stood up.

Jayden tried to keep the news on hold at that moment, but soon decided to tell them.

"Sofia... She has been here all this while. In Harper's Defense Unit," Jayden said.

The three ladies had their mouths agape instantly after hearing that.

At that same point, Harper also stepped in, noticing the tense scene.

"I never knew her. I'm sorry," Harper said, her face worried.

"That bloody bitch. Thought she left the country before the final exams?" Paula wondered.

"How did she even get here?" Camilia asked, visibly confused.

"Someone must have helped her in. Someone really must have helped her in," Temi added.

These three ladies were the only ones who knew Sofia, and Camilia and Paula were once students from the same university as Sofia and even Jayden. As for Temi, she clearly remembered the day Sofia came begging for Jayden's forgiveness.

She would never forget it, and even her face when she saw her again.

"She claimed to be Sofia Taylor. Says her father is a retired man from the FBI. Bloody lies helped her into the island," Jayden said, his face completely dark.

"What do we do now?" Temi asked.

"First, we find out who helped her in. Leave that to me and Harper. And then, we find Sofia. This has given me other reasons to hunt her down, before she prepares enough to do the hunting against me," Jayden said.

"I need Charlotte to track her. She must be here for a reason that could affect us and might have gotten close to success. We need every detail," Jayden told Temi and Paula.

As for Cammy, she was just standing there waiting for him to tell her what to do, but then came disappointment.

"You should rest here," Jayden said with a soft tone and left.

What's more tense? Camilia happened to be more pissed by being left out.

It was something that she never wanted, but this was one of the few times she was getting it.

She completely judged that Jayden was trying to joke with her and surely wasn't liking it.

While she was about to storm into her room, Becky approached her.

"Hey, Cammy. I was thinking of something," she said.

"What?" Camilia asked.

"I am traveling to the South today, so I was thinking if you could come with me," Becky said.

"No, thanks," Camilia said and attempted to continue walking away.

"You are going to love it. I'm gonna need you for something. Quite a good job," Becky said.

Camilia halted with a glare and asked, "What job?"

Becky went ahead and sat on a chair, and then tapped on the other chair next to her.

And with a half mind, Camilia had no choice but to go sit and hear what Becky had to say.

Truly, she didn't want to be idle all day.

******

Two cars arrived from different directions and settled at a lonesome spot.

Sofia came out from one, and from the other was Razer.

Razer came out alone, which made Sofia curious. They were planning on taking on a mission, and he was arriving alone?

"Where are your boys?" she asked.

"Dead," Razer replied casually.

"What?! What do you mean 'dead'?" Sofia furrowed her brows.

"They are all dead, boss. I had to kill them. They were all against our plans... Your plans," Razer said.

Sofia gave a doubtful look and hesitated, but then she couldn't judge.

It's not as if she cared anyway.

"There's no way you are doing this alone, are you?" she asked.

"No. I have brought new boys. Tougher guys, boss," Razer smiled and whistled.

Instantly, about seven figures stormed out from nowhere.

Sofia flinched, frightened.

"How smart are they, huh? They have been here before we arrived. Yet you never noticed. No one would. This is to show you how smart they are," Razer said.

Sofia had to nod in approval. She really saw it, and it was clearly the type of men she wanted.

Although there was a lady amongst them, one that even seemed tougher than them all.

"Alright then. I have a first job for you. One of The Core members, Lady Clave, will be traveling to the South. The job is to track her down and... kill her."

Razer nodded. "Consider it done, boss..."

Sofia nodded hopefully, an evil smile on her face.
