Chapter 1080: That's exactly why we should do this
[Eon's POV: ]
"Ugh…"
It has been a while since Headmaster's first aid was finished.
"This feels bad…"
There was no pain anymore, but the strange feeling of something having wrapped all around my body, like I was covered in bandages, felt so strange I could not even move properly.
"My body feels sluggish."
The headmaster used his magic with the power of his Aether and made a protective barrier around our bodies, slowing down the rapid expansion that he was talking about earlier.
'Additionally, he created various barriers around us that slowed down the mental expansion.'
He used a very powerful spell to do that, something that though was closer to a (tier-10) spell, was not exactly a (tier-10) spell due to its unique constitution that could not be fit into conventional spell categories.
"Deal with it, you dummies.
In the first place, who goes around in dungeons taking on legacy trails as if they are house plays?"
The headmaster was really frustrated right now.
It took him three hours just to cast this spell on us, and it took a lot of his energy to finish the process.
'For the first time in my life, I saw him use a potion to recover his lost energy.'
And the potion that he was using was also much different from something one can find on the market.
'It was similar to the red potions that I have. The ones that master had made for me.'
But, even they did to compare to the one that he had just used.
'It was an elixir that restored not just his energy, but also his stamina, something only Clover was capable of until now.'
Seeing him use that green potion was certainly something unexpected, but then again, the way he was looking at us right now was even worse.
"This was supposed to be your vacation. You should have been on a break, spending time with your family playing around with your siblings or bonding closer.
You should have been having fun… and here you are, almost risking your lives again."
The headmaster seemed disappointed as well…
'The look in his eyes was unbearable to both of us.'
As students, what he was saying certainly applied to us.
We were on vacation and we should have been spending time with our families.
'But we ended up going to a dungeon by ourselves, and ultimately ended up nearly dying.'
If that wasn't enough, we were now experiencing far worse situations than simply dying. Our very existence was on the line because of our own foolishness.
And, none of it would have happened had we declined the request of the five children.
"You're adults now. At least act like one…"
He also had to go through something unpleasant because of us.
We can tell he ended up remembering something he did not want to go back to because of this incident. And, it was also our fault.
"We…"
"We apologise-."
The two of us even tried to apologise, but he shook his head firmly and stopped us midway.
"I do not want your apologies. You should save that for your family and friends that don't even know the seriousness of this whole matter."
The only thing that he wanted, thus, was for us to get better.
"Haaa…"
He seemed tired, so he sat down on a log on the other side, and when he did, president and Cradle walked up to him.
"Headmaster?"
Those two could see he wasn't looking so well either. He was struggling with his own thoughts, and as Mirror might have guessed, he did not have pleasant memories of something like this happening.
"I'm… alright. There's no need to worry about me."
Since he looks so young and bright all the time, we sometimes forget he is an old grandpa that has lived for at least a thousand years.
He is old already, and despite being a wizard, he isn't immune to the passage of time and the memories that might have become prominent inside of him.
"If I wasn't here, they would have also faced the same…"
The headmaster was mumbling to himself. But, the two of us could hear him faintly.

I had not even accessed my ability yet, and if I was still facing such consequences, I don't even want to imagine what could have happened to Rein.
'She seems fine now, so, at the very least, that's a good thing.'
Also, since she looks a little sleepy now, it seems like she will finally be able to sleep after three whole days.
"Haaaa."
The headmaster did not dwell too much into his past and shook his head after a deep sigh.
"Anyway."
Then, one by one, he looked at the four of us.
"It seems like you've been doing something at least. Spending your time meaningfully."
He stood up, examined Rein and me one last time, and without saying anything else, started walking back towards the shore.
"We were going to try and create a miracle drug."
He started speaking in a calmer voice that seemed to have returned to normal.
He wasn't shaken or anything, and now that he had recovered as well, it seemed like he was planning to return to our original business.
"With the help of little Sansan's pinnacle skill and with Eon controlling the whole process, we would have transferred a significant energy through the skill, utilizing the magic circle disc that we have created over the last few months in a controlled environment devoid of any energy other than Mana, to create an elixir possessing the essence of life."
The experiment that we were going to do was simple.
Sansan would be the medium, the president would be the enabler, the headmaster would be the one to supply us with the required energy and mathematical calculations, and I would be the one to control the process with my energy conducting body.
'I would use my entire body to control the output of the energy and filter the energies even further with my Solnova, and if we do this right, what we would obtain at the end would be the pure life essence that might possibly contain the properties to bring dead back to life.'
We weren't certain what we would end up with, but we were going to do this on a nearby island some distance away from here.
"Theoretically, this was supposed to be a possible experiment with a success rate of 87%."
The island was located pretty far from here so we were all going to fly there.
We had the headmaster with us so we wouldn't have to use our own strength to fly all the way over there, and on that island, in what seemed to be a barren ancient site with pretty much nothing, we were going to conduct the experiment.
'The site was already checked thoroughly and was cleared.'
The headmaster was coming from there just now as well and he had also checked the place and knew there was not going to be any problems with anything.
It was the perfect place. Sansan's skill was ready as well.
The president had already prepared everything that we would need, Cradle had even helped him pick better things that what he had planned.
Rein was prepared for the departure. And, even though we went through that complicated experience, we were ready to do this experiment.
But now, seeing the seriousness of the situation…
"It seems like with Eon like this… we would have to postpone the plans."
I could tell he was worried about me.
It was because I went through something like this, and even more so because Rein who I cared the most about had gone through something even worse, that he was considering this.
We would have many more chances to do this in the future after our bodies have stabilised. There was no need to follow the same path that we had planned, but then again, there really wasn't any need for anything like that.
"We should do this, headmaster."
I know we went through something like that and now we are facing the consequences. I understand the chances of success have gone down significantly as well, but I have become stronger.
"We have to do this."
My mind was expanding and my body could not keep up with it, and… that is exactly why we should do this experiment.
"Since I will have to use my body as a medium and my mind as the guide, if there is more pressure on my mind, thanks to the spells that you've put on me, the mind should exhaust faster."
When that happens, I'll be able to slow down the expansion of my mind even more, and my body will be able to catch up with the expansion with the sudden influx of foreign energy.
"One of the traits of Solnova is its uniqueness and distinctiveness. It will not mix with the other energies, but since it is one of the major sources of those energies, it will still conduct those energies."
I knew the headmaster knew about Sol by now but the two presidents did not have any idea what I was talking about.
And, they were puzzled as well.
"Let's do this, headmaster."
But, when they saw how firmly I was saying it, they understood it meant a lot to me.
And, since it meant so much to me, to the president, it also mattered a lot to Rein and Cradle.
"I can handle this."
I somehow knew I would be fine when we do this… there was no doubt in my mind that we would succeed as well.
And, as we knew… missing this opportunity when the moon would be closer to us more than most of the times, would mean missing the one good chance that we had.
'I did not want to wait for months for a good chance like this…'
And neither did they.
So, even though it's dangerous, I don't mind it.
"It will work out."
I was, at the very least, sure of that much.
