Chapter 1082: The big Boys
[OP: ]
"Huuuu…"
"Don't go overboard like last time, Brian."
"Yes, dude. That would be a problem this time."
As the sun rose over the vast ocean, its golden light spread across the calm waters. Gentle waves rolled onto the shore, making soft sounds that mixed with the calls of seabirds flying overhead.
The horizon glowed with bright colors, pinks of the birds and the skies, oranges of the shores and the trees, and yellows of the sand that cover the shores, marking the start of a new day.
Approaching a lone island some distance away from the main archipelago islands, the first thing to see was a beautiful stretch of white sand, framed by lush green trees swaying lightly in the morning breeze.
Trees with tops shaved and their trunks covered in thorns dotted the landscape, their pointy leaves rustling softly in the wind.
The air was fresh and salty, filling the lungs with a sense of energy.
-Ooooooooooooong!
"This is just one… I don't even know why we need a spell like this to take it down."
As one moved further onto the island, a wide field opened up, surrounded by thick bushes and Normal trees, a stark contradiction to the periphery of the dangerous island.
"You'll see when you hit it, Brian. Just do it!"
The grass here was a rich green, sparkling with morning dew that looked like tiny diamonds in the sunlight. Wildflowers containing Mana in shades of purple, indigo and blue swayed gently, adding bright colors to the scene.
"GRRRRR…!"
In this peaceful setting stood three young men, arranged in a triangle at the center of the field. Each of them had a unique excitement as they faced a giant, slime-like creature that seemed to be around (Blue) rank or probably above.
"Alright then…"
On one side stood a tall man with messy black hair and bright eyes.
-Ooooooooooooong!
"GHAAAAA…!"
He had raised his hands and magic energy around him formed into a spell circle, half of which was green, while half was blue.
Glowing light swirled at his fingertips as he prepared to cast the powerful spell which would cover a wide area.
His non-serious expression told this was just a simple task for him.
"Good one!"
Opposite to him was another cheerful man, slightly taller but just as carefree.
He held a strange-looking magical device… a complicated gadget covered in glowing symbols and intricate parts.
His long blue hair was tied back and his light blue eyes reflecting the sky had a spark of childish glee in them.
The way he handled the magical device was masterful, though complimented with the magic of the black haired individual, the two seemed like seasoned professionals.
With careful movements, he was adjusting its settings, making sure it was ready for action that would follow as the consequence of the magic spell destroying that giant creature. The device hummed softly as it responded to his delicate touch.
In the middle of their formation stood the third man, relaxed yet confident.
He waved his hands to guide currents of wind that swirled around him like playful spirits. The winds moved through the field, bending grass and flowers as they headed toward their target… the giant slime creature, their target that now struggled under the intense heat of the previous spell that had not only burned its body but also a one meter radius around the creature as well.
His steady gaze showed he was focused on directing the winds to trap the creature within these flames, blocking any paths to escape that it may have.
"Yes, now that it's done…"

When the slime creature was just about to burn to death under the magic of the two younger ones, the older of them, Elken, Carla's dad and the classteacher of Class A at the great academy, controlled the complicated device and created a barrier around the screeching slime creature.
The barrier did not put out the flames but instead, controlled the Mana within it and sucked it out, creating a unique energy pressure within.
Though the slime was still burning, its voice had now vanished with the pressure present inside the barrier.
But, just like the device that it was produced from, this was no ordinary barrier…
"Now, if we only do this…"
El controlled the device and shrunk the barrier, shrinking it so much that it became as small as a coconut.
The slime trapped within it had been condensed several times, becoming nothing more than an essence of what it used to be.
Though still alive with only its core left, the creature inside was struggling like no other being on the island, and, while struggling, it started producing something… that the magic engineer had been looking for.
"That's it!"
Drops of unique green fluid started appearing outside of the barrier containing the creature possessing a unique scent so strong it instantly filled the entire area around them.
"Hahahah! We've done it~."
He screamed with a triumphant voice… though before he did, he had carefully placed the delicate device inside his magic storage device.
He seemed much more excited now. Though, his two companions had no idea why he was reacting like that.
"Brother El… Can you elaborate what it is that we've accomplished?"
It was his idea to come here, it was his idea to hunt down this slime in this complicated manner, and he was the one that planned this trip of theirs.
The three of them were the only ones here today, away from their ladies who were chatting about the heroes back home.
"Haha, you'll see. Just wait and watch~."
They had been going through a few things even though it was their vacation. Though, now that it seemed like Eon and Elle had recovered from whatever they were going through, and since their estate was getting crowded recently, the Boys decided to take a day for themselves as well.
They had done something like this many times. Every time they were on vacation, they would spare some time for themselves. And when they were spending their own time, they would always do something that was fun…
Something their ladies would not like them to do.
"Hmmm? What?"
"Brother Brain?"
"No, wait…"
Brain was a (tier-7) mage and a father of two special children, El was an academy teacher and someone known for his many inventions that had revolutionised many fields, and Theo was famous for being connected to many actually powerful people since he had represented them in legal cases.
All three were famous and yet, unknown to everyone, they were also childish and liked to have their own adventures.
"There… there's a bunch of other creatures coming! From all directions!" With his Mana senses, he had already sensed many dozen creatures coming towards them.
"Hahah…"
The creatures seemed to be drawn towards something, and from how they were coming from all sides, it was obvious what was attracting all those beings at once.
Additionally, with El making that wicked face and with taking out a magic wand encoded with spells… the other two did not take long to put together what was happening.
"So this is why you wanted to come here, huh?"
A smirk appeared on Brain's face as well.
"Since this is a slime island, they aren't going to lessen anytime soon. With how many there are, it shouldn't be a problem to clean up a few hundred of them."
Theo had already made his calculations and knew how dealing with a certain amount wouldn't cause any trouble at all.
For a mage that practically controlled winds and could redirect the beings that mainly relied on environmental cues, and a mage that practically specialised on mass destruction, this island was nothing less than a heaven.
"Go wild, boys… oh, but spare the ones that I mark. They might be something good."
With a unique magic glass covering his eyes and forehead, El nodded at his two companions with a smile.
Theo also called out his familiar, Tulli, and asked for her help while Brain simply pulled out his magic wand with the calmest look.
"Haaa…"
He simply took a deep breath and used one of his Skills to float into the air with the help of Theo's wind currants and watched tens, or hundreds of slimes of various shapes, colors, types, kinds, and verities moving towards them as quickly as they could.
"Just what we needed, I guess."
Many of the slimes were simple creatures. Many were of (Red) rank while some of them were stronger creatures of (Green) or higher rank.
While some of the slimes had so weak Mana that they could not even be considered creatures, but some were stronger, as much as a (Purple) creature despite their low ranks.
The reason this island was a restricted area was exactly because of these slimes. Not even the adventurers were allowed here, and only the Lord's personal forces cleaned it periodically.
Some of the researchers and energy beast specialists were permitted access to this area sometimes, but right now, there was no one present here aside from the five of them.
"This is one of my favourite places, you know? I knew you two would like it~."
Though it was the first time the three were coming here together, El had been here many times in the past.
He liked this place for how diverse the ecosystems of this island were for it to house more than hundred species of slime creatures.
Some were common species, while some were damaging to the existing ecosystem.
The one that they had just trapped was also one of the dangerous ones, but, when used right, it became a beacon that attracted all the other slimes that could leave their particular environments.
"Well… here we go then." With his spells ready and his heart free of any guilt for the creatures, he looked down with an excited heart and special anticipation.
He was excited to destroy them, to let out all his pent up emotions, and the other two were the same…
Just that Elken was here to pick up some souvenirs as well. So, he would be looking out for the good apples among the many common and ugly ones that are responding to their invitations…
