Chapter 88: Everyday life of two S-Ranks
The morning sun barely peeked over the horizon when Jinwoo and Po left their home, stepping into the bustling streets. Today's mission was simple: get fire-resistant cloaks for their upcoming dungeon runs.
The two arrived at Hunter's Haven, a well-known store catering to high-ranked Hunters. The interior was sleek and modern, lined with weapons, armor, and potions, each item labeled with astronomical price tags.
"Yo, welcome! What can I get you guys today?" the shopkeeper greeted them enthusiastically.
"Two of your best fire-resistant cloaks," Jinwoo stated, glancing around at the inventory.
The shopkeeper's eyes widened upon recognizing Sung Jinwoo and Po—two rising titans in the Hunter world.
"R-right! Coming right up!" he stammered before rushing to the back.
Within minutes, the cloaks were presented to them—pitch-black with a faint red shimmer, made from the hide of high-ranked fire-type monsters. They offered top-tier resistance without sacrificing mobility.
Jinwoo paid in cash, and they left without another word.
Upon their return home, the moment they turned the corner to their street, they saw it—chaos.
Reporters, cameras, and flashing lights surrounded their house, broadcasting live feeds of their address, personal details, and baseless rumors.
And in the middle of it all, Jin-ah stood with her arms crossed, fuming.
"You two left so fast yesterday that the media lost its mind! Now I can't even enjoy my own home!" she huffed, glaring at them.
Jinwoo and Po exchanged glances.
"Want us to make them go away?" Po asked.
Jin-ah smirked. "Obviously."
Po nodded casually and snapped his fingers.
BOOM.
From the shadows, an army of dragons erupted—towering, menacing, and completely silent as they surrounded the crowd. Their glowing eyes bore down on the reporters, who immediately panicked and fled, screaming.
"T-they summoned dragons!"
"Run for your lives!"
Cameras were dropped. Vans were abandoned. Within minutes, the entire block was silent again.
Jin-ah let out a satisfied sigh. "That's better."
Jinwoo chuckled. "You really take after me."
"And you're a terrible influence," she shot back, walking inside.
Just as they settled in, a knock sounded at the door.
Jinwoo opened it, revealing Yoo Jinho standing there, looking miserable.
"Hey… So, um… My dad kicked me out," Jinho muttered sheepishly. "And since my apartment was under his name… I'm kinda homeless now."
There was a long pause.
Then, without saying a word, Jinwoo slowly shut the door in his face.
From inside, Jin-ah, sitting on the couch, called out. "Who was that?"
Jinwoo and Po, in perfect sync, replied monotonously:
"No one. Never heard of him."
From outside, Jinho let out a betrayed gasp.
"HYUNG, NOOO!"
Meanwhile, across the city, Baek Yoonho and Choi Jong-In sat in a high-end bar, deep in thought.
Baek sighed, swirling his drink. "We should've recruited them when we had the chance."
Choi nodded in agreement. "It's too late now. They're just going to keep growing stronger."
There was a long pause before they both exhaled in defeat.
Over at White Tiger Guild, one of the high-ranking officials (a man whose name wasn't important enough to remember) was pacing back and forth in the office.
"We need them in our guild! We won't stop! No matter how many times they refuse!" he declared, fire blazing in his eyes.
His subordinates, equally fired up, clenched their fists in solidarity.
"We'll help you, Boss!" they shouted in unison, their eyes literally burning with determination.
The rest of the office workers, watching from the sidelines, just sighed.
"They've lost it," one whispered.
"Just let them dream," another muttered.
Back at the Yoo Family Estate, Jinho's mother approached her husband with concern.
"Don't you think kicking Jinho out was too harsh?" she asked.
Her husband scoffed. "You mean I wasn't harsh enough."
But as soon as he finished speaking—
His body wavered. His vision doubled.
"How… peculiar…I see... two of yo-" he mumbled.
Then, without warning, he collapsed to his knees, clutching his chest.
"Darling!" Jinho's mother cried out, rushing to his side.
Her hands trembled as she tried to support him, panic evident in her eyes.
Something was wrong.
Very, very wrong.
That night, Jinwoo and Po stood in Jin-ah's room, watching her sleep.
Jinwoo crouched beside her bed, placing his hand on her shadow. With a whisper, he assigned one of his stronger Shadows to her, ensuring she would be protected at all times.
"Stay hidden. Only act if necessary," he instructed.
Then, turning to Po, he added, "Increase security."
Po smirked and snapped his fingers.
From the rooftops, Shadow-Light Dragons emerged, silently patrolling the neighborhood like ethereal guardians of the night.
Jinwoo exhaled, satisfied.
"That should do it."
And with that, the night carried on, dark and quiet—yet under the watchful eyes of titans.
