Chapter 41: Blame Your Brother
Lilian could never forget that day. That's why, every time she encountered another Ashborn, she struggled to control her emotions. She was always wary of their intentions, worried that another Aliath might appear.
Fortunately for her, the other children of the Ashborn family, though frighteningly talented, were not as monstrous as Aliath had been from the start.
When she heard that Elias was also an Ashborn, she was taken aback. She couldn't believe she hadn't been informed that another Ashborn had entered the academy.
She quickly sent the students away after telling them about the trial. When they were gone, she immediately requested information on Elias's measurement ceremony from the academy's administrative department.
She received the complete file on Elias Ashborn, including everything that he had done from the moment he stepped inside the academy. It also mentioned his battle with Rey Esterin, which left both of them injured.
On the last page of the file, there was information related to his Measurement Ceremony. Even though she looked at the information with her own eyes, she found it hard to believe.
That person was from the Auxiliary Class? Was he pushed into the Destroyer Class simply because of his family name? She wondered, unaware of the true reason an Auxiliary Class student would be sent to the Destroyer Class.
Still, she was somewhat relieved to know that Elias wasn't a threat. Even if he seemed a little unusual, he was still an Auxiliary. What could an architect do? Even if he wanted to, he couldn't harm her.
Just to be certain, she kept an eye on the rankings for the first few days to see the scores of the Destroyer Class participants. Every time she glanced at the rankings, she found Elias at the bottom, his points in the single digits.
After a few days, she stopped checking the lower rankings that often, becoming more certain that Elias wasn't a threat. If anything, he was even weaker than the fourth Ashborn Child.
Lost in memories of the past, Lilian didn't notice a person walking towards her amidst the heavy snowstorm.
Elias had completely erased his presence using one of the temporary abilities he had merged with. He also used another ability to make his body lighter which allowed him to walk on the snow without leaving footprints or making any noise.
To ensure that Lilian wasn't alerted of his presence yet, he had even stopped using the Snowmobile when he was a few kilometres away from the cliff. From that point on, he had been running in the snowstorm to reach the top of the cliff, wanting to get here before the test could end.
He pulled out a dagger and approached the Frost Queen, who was gazing into the distance as if she hadn't noticed his presence at all. He was completely focused on her, knowing that this might be his only opportunity.
He took a deep breath, and once he was ready, he used the same method he had used to kill the two rankers.
To his own pleasant surprise, his dagger successfully hit the target. It stabbed through the woman's neck. However, before he could celebrate, he noticed that something was wrong.
There was no bleeding. He didn't even hear the woman make even the slightest noise, as if she couldn't feel anything.
Right before his eyes, the woman's figure started turning into an ice sculpture, which began cracking until it broke into thousands of pieces that fell to the ground.
Once again, thousands of ice spears appeared all around him, and he came to a realization. The Frost Queen was still alive, and he had clearly been entrapped.
Since the Material Composition didn't show anything strange when he attacked, he was sure that the person he struck was really the Frost Queen, but still, she had managed to survive.
It made him believe that she had some ability that helped her switch with an ice statue at the last moment to save her life. If she truly had an ability like that, then it made it even harder for him to take her down.
"It looks like I really underestimated you," Lilian's voice reached his ears, appearing from behind him. "You are just as ambitious as he was."
Elias slowly turned around and saw the Frost Queen standing in the distance, completely unharmed. She didn't even have a single scratch on her body, and her clothes remained pure, untouched by the impurities of this world.
"Don't worry. I won't kill you. I don't want your family to come after my head. But I will definitely make sure that you learn your place." She raised her right hand, and the hundreds of ice spears around Elias started trembling.
The winds became stronger while her bangs moved, occasionally revealing the deep scar on her forehead.
Ever since she was defeated by Aliath, she had been working harder to become stronger. In the future, she wanted to challenge Aliath again. Unfortunately, while Aliath grew up, he became even more monstrous.
Until that man graduated, Lilian never had the courage to challenge him, despite being a teacher at the Academy.
Even if Elias was different from Aliath, her anger and shame of the past had overwhelmed her. What she couldn't do to Aliath, she wanted to do to Elias so she could calm her anger.
"If you want to blame anyone, then blame your foolishness and that arrogant bastard brother of yours!" she exclaimed as she suddenly clenched her fist.
Simultaneously, the hundreds of sharp ice spears fell, aimed at Elias. Even if she said that she wasn't trying to kill Elias, her actions didn't give the same impression.
An attack like that was strong enough to kill almost anyone in this world, especially a child who had only gained his Class less than a week ago.
The moment those spears struck, the cliff itself trembled, with snow flying in all directions. The impact of the attack was so strong that even the participants of faraway domains felt the trembling, as if there had been an earthquake.
Most of the cliff was destroyed, just like the cliff was destroyed in her battle with Aliath. The only difference was that she was the winner this time, and she didn't regret anything.
