Chapter 497: The Truth About the Poison Gas Case
Southern San Francisco, an abandoned parking lot.
The shouting of SWAT members drew the attention of everyone present.
Luo An and Captain Kevin hurried to the center of the crowd next to a package, bent down to inspect it closely, and found in the pocket of the white Tom Hamilton, only a small top layer of real money, with the rest being fake US Dollars that felt wrong to the touch.
The black captain's large black bag, supposed to contain poison gas bombs, also did not hold real bombs but instead two prop models with a metal shell of poison gas bombs.
Luo An and Captain Kevin looked up only to see speechlessness in each other's eyes.
Before either of them could speak, Tom Hamilton and the black captain, who had also seen what was in each other's packages, were the first to furiously curse at each other:
"Fuck you, nigger! You useless piece of garbage farm tool! How dare you trick me with fake shells!"
"You're carrying fake money too! Cop's pet! You damn white moron!"
Hearing Tom Hamilton insult him as a farm tool, the black captain lost his temper too and spat out a series of discriminatory words against white people.
With the black captain's Rap talent, his cursing had rhythm and rhyme, infuriating Tom Hamilton so much that veins bulged on his forehead, nearly spitting blood, yet unable to get a word in.

The SWAT members and FBI agents witnessing the scene were all exasperated. Luo An gestured for everyone to quickly pull the two men up from the ground and escort them back to the FBI's San Francisco Branch building.
After treating the gunshot wounds on Tom Hamilton at the hospital and conducting a brief interrogation, Tom Hamilton confessed the whole story.
Just as Luo An had deduced before, Tom Hamilton had contacted Professor Lloyd Webster in an online chat room to purchase poison gas for staging a large-scale event aimed at eliminating people of color in downtown San Francisco.
On the day of the exchange, Professor Lloyd Webster's son committed suicide by jumping off a building, leaving the professor disheartened and unmotivated to proceed with the trade, causing Tom Hamilton to make a wasted trip.
Tom Hamilton later contacted the professor online again, questioning him and intending to purchase the poison gas, but the professor refused to deal.
Threatening the professor's life, the detached professor indicated he did not care if he died, infuriating Tom Hamilton who was left with no choice but to abandon his goal of obtaining the poison gas from him.
When the Los Angeles Bank poison gas incident erupted, Tom Hamilton saw the news on television and learned from the media that the gas was botulinum toxin. He immediately realized that Professor had previously hidden the poison gas there.
Worried that the FBI might investigate the professor and, under interrogation, the professor might reveal him, potentially jeopardizing his noble plan to eradicate people of color, Tom Hamilton decided he had nothing to lose and went to the professor's home to kill him.
However, the professor, having seen the same news on TV and filled with guilt and regret, swallowed his gun and committed suicide. Before dying, he wrote a long letter detailing the entire course of events.
Not long after the professor's death, Tom Hamilton snuck into his house. He did not expect the professor to commit suicide, but upon seeing the letter, Tom immediately decided to take and destroy it. He then deleted the chat records from the computer and quietly left the house.
As for dealing with fake money during the exchange with the black captain, it was because Tom Hamilton had never intended to deal with him from the start but planned to eliminate him with a gun after successfully obtaining the poison gas bombs.
Tom Hamilton's reason was simple; he stated he was a member of the "First Order," a white supremacist who believed black people should not exist in this world, and that killing them was a waste of bullets.
After interrogating Tom Hamilton, Luo An and others turned and entered another interrogation room to question the black captain, quickly learning the location of the two poison gas bombs, in the basement of the black captain's home.
At the same time, Luo An and the others also learned why the black captain had brought fake poison gas bombs to the exchange:
The black captain declared himself a patriot. Born in the military, he knew all too well how many people the Sarin Poison Gas Bomb could kill and the terrifying impact it could have. To protect the federal citizens and peace, he never really intended to sell those two poison gas bombs.
Of course, patriotism aside, his own life was also very important.
Thus, the black captain agreed to the deal, planning to trick some money out of Tom Hamilton with fake shells.

After the interrogation, Captain Kevin hurriedly sent people to search and retrieve the two poison gas bombs. Luo An walked out of the interrogation room feeling deeply, realizing that the federal land indeed does not foster idleness, with talents and potential like hidden dragons and crouching tigers everywhere.
After working through most of the night, Luo An and his two companions rested well at a hotel near the FBI San Francisco Branch. The next day, they entered the building to continue handling the case.
After a brief discussion with Captain Kevin, the FBI San Francisco Branch finally agreed to Luo An's request. They would dispatch a fully armed squad to safely escort Tom Hamilton to the FBI Los Angeles Branch.
The case involving the white supremacist group "The First Order," and the two poison gas bombs found in the black captain's home, would be handled by Captain Kevin and his team.
Luo An nodded in agreement, firstly because both incidents occurred in San Francisco and, being the head of the Special Investigation Team in Los Angeles, it would be inappropriate for him to intervene.
Secondly, the "The First Order" organization had over a hundred members and involved racial discrimination, making the case complex and difficult to handle. Luo An had no intention of dealing with that case.
Regarding the two poison gas bombs found by the black captain, further communication with the military was needed, as the matter involved more complex and extensive issues.
Luo An was only in charge of the poison gas case. Since the real culprit has now been caught, there was no need to complicate matters further. It was preferable to smoothly build a good relationship with the FBI San Francisco Branch and Captain Kevin, resulting in multiple benefits.
On the way back to Los Angeles, Luo An took out his phone and called the group supervisor Potante Byrne to briefly describe the case proceedings and the current situation of the suspect.
"The suspect has already been brought back?!"
Listening to the narration on the phone, Potante Byrne's face showed astonishment, and then he suddenly slammed his fist on the table and stood up, laughing loudly while repeatedly praising Luo An.
This morning, just as Potante Byrne walked into the office, the Mayor of Los Angeles had called him due to various negative media reports, asking about the progress of the case investigation.
Potante Byrne, not wishing to disturb Luo An's investigative progress, briefly introduced the clues previously found, which left the Mayor of Los Angeles somewhat dissatisfied as he hung up the phone.
Aware of the frontline personnel's hardships, and not wanting to disturb Luo An, Potante Byrne had originally planned to call Luo An during lunch to inquire about the progress of the case.
However, Luo An beat him to it by calling first and even brought such a big surprise!
After asking about the approximate time the escort team would arrive in Los Angeles, Potante Byrne took a deep breath to calm his excitement and solemnly said:
"Be sure to bring the suspect back to Los Angeles intact. I will report this matter to the chief and request commendation for your Special Investigation Team.
As the head of the Special Investigation Team, Luo An, you have played an indispensable role in the investigation and capture of the suspect, as well as Mona and Michelle, you both have worked hard!"
Mona and Michelle's faces were full of smiles, both feeling very pleased. Potante Byrne had never praised them like this before, and being involved in such a high-profile case and personally solving it would certainly mark a significant accomplishment in their careers.
As for Luo An, there was no need to say more. The biggest beneficiary in solving this poison gas case was him, as he had full authority over the direction of the investigation and work, and he personally identified and captured the suspect. No one could erase his contributions, and he had firmly secured the chief merit.
After hanging up the phone, Potante Byrne immediately got up and headed to the chief's office to report the situation. Luo An and the other two sat in the second car behind the transport vehicle, quietly waiting to return to Los Angeles.
